  • Jim Steinman is getting his rightful place in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame alongside Bob Seger and Gordon Lightfoot <3

  • This is my theme song. I will never fucking grow up. Fuck you, society. Fuck you, school that told me I'll never be anything. Fuck everything I'm gonna live fast and loud until I die at 48 of a sudden stroke. I predict that is how I will die, though it will probably be much worse, but fuck if I care I'll be listening to this when I die and I wanna have an open casket and be dressed in my birthday suit and black socks at my funeral. WASTED YOUTH FOR LIFE!

  • A facebook test said this was my theme song :3

  • Mozart didn't live log enough to write this but if he had, he would have done.

  • i'm 13 and i love this song!

  • Im only 17 and I think this song is great!

  • I like my music like I like my life: EVERYTHING LOUDER THAN EVERYTHING ELSE! Yeah, man

  • @gojira931 Jim Steinman released almost this entire album after meatloaf refused to record it after he lost his voice two days in. however, Stark Raving love followed wasted youth on Steinman's version, and they are very similar in certain areas. you're not the only one at all, my friend! amazing song. Steinman never gets enough credit..

  • am i the only one who hears shades of stark raving love in here?

  • if this song's story was the theme to a musical id so go see, i think it would fit perfectly

for an epic show (sorry for the mind poop, thinking about school's musical coming up to help with)

  • Thanks to my mom, i can now appreciate the awesomeness of Meat Loaf

  • @BATISTABOMBF5 I agree with you.. my mum brought me up listening to 70s, & 80s music lol even 1930's onwards lol

  • Awesomeness. You hardly hear music this good nowadays. I mean, the fact that Nickleback even exists is an insult to my ears. Thanks for posting this.

  • @YoungBrave2006 Nickelback is a polyp on the ass of rock and roll.

  • @wolverine2244 No, Nickleback is the dick shaped tumor on the back of the head of rock n' roll. They are the bottom feeders of the ocean of music, the dredgers of the scum, the eaters of the shit. I hate them with the white hot heat of a thousand suns for fucking with my music.

  • @YoungBrave2006 SERIOUSLY!? You guys are cracking jokes about Nickelback during Meat Loaf? -.- You both are CLEARLY in denial about your dislike for them as well.

  • @YoungBrave2006 I agree that you hardly hear music this good nowadays, infact I'd say GREAT music - but Nickleback are good band and Chad Kroeger is a good singer.

  • wtf happened to the music? this is MUCH better than the crap I hear on the radio now. Meat Loaf rules :)

  • This song takes me way back, good post man

  • this song could be the intro to naruto

  • @Z3kedog And you could have the Mona Lisa as a backdrop for the title while you are at it!

  • Pure FUCKIN" Art!!!

  • FUCK YEAH, only 2 dislikes.

  • @BassGr00ve No, no. They missed the 'like' button.

  • The whole message of the song is harmless creativity and fun!

  • seems like this guy had some big influence on modern power metal bands... never heard anything quite like this anywhere else

  • i freaking LOVE this song.

  • You gotta serve your country... gotta service your girl.... awesome lyrics

  • This song was always my favorite

  • Fucking epic!

  • For all the real fans of Meat loaf. Check out his youtube-page where he answers questions from people like us: his name is RedPony2

  • I REMEBER THIS SONG!!! i listened to it from a disc my mom had. i listened to this song so many times that i forgot the lyrics and i couldnt listen to it.

  • 2 ppl didnt wake up and got smashed on teh head w/ a gutar

  • @captiancapitalism ... i hope the guitar is ok

  • Where's the "Absolute Legend" Button?

How does anyone write songs like this?

  • @Sarcasticprick1 one note and one word at a time...

  • thats the way every rock'n'roller should lead his life!!!

  • The beginning of this used to scare the shit out of me when I was younger! Admittedly I was about 4 years old!

  • this what true rock n roll is all about

  • good stuff, but i remember listing to the earlier stuff about 20 years ago when i was 6-7........ Good Old Rock and Roll..

  • wow can i skull fuck my teachers with this

  • I Love the song. I think Everything louder is the most underrated song on Bat 2

  • I had no idea what the hell the words to this song were about when I was listening to this when I was 7. You bet I fucking loved it though!

  • meat loaf is a rock n roll legend, i was just a little boy listening to bat out of hell. somewhere along the way I forgot all about his music but it's strange, just out of nowhere I started thinking about it and here I am! each song I listen to just keeps taking me back further and further like im in a time machine.

  • Im the only 14 year old at my school that knows and loves this song.

  • THIS SONG IS FUCKING AMAZING!

WHERE THE HELLS THE LEGEND BUTTON!!

  • @simonacdcwright

Well, not when I first said that, they hadn't -.-

  • I remember sitting in front of the CD player with Bat Out of Hell in it when I was - cripes, it was 11 years ago! That was the last time I can remember listening to these tracks. In 11 years I've done a lot of stuff that's taken up brain space - like going to Uni. But I put this on yesterday (out of the blue) and could recall all the lyrics! And I'm impossible for lyrics. It seems Meatloaf has a special place in my brain o.x

    WOO!

  • Meatloaf, an absolute legend, I love this and this song makes me happy :-)

  • ......what....the.....hell?........oooookay the song is okay I guess but what the heck was with the speach?

  • @Stargategirl044 That's meat loaf girl. Meat loaf isn't a normal singer. He's a legend. Michael Jackson is overrated after his death, but this man is million times bigger than the little MJ.

  • @ellriderke lol okay, haven't really heard much of his stuff before so the speech was not what I expected when someone told me to look this up. As far as the song it's good I'll have to get around to listen to more of his stuff to figure out if I really like him or not.

  • @Stargategirl044 That's a good idea. There's only a small chance you wouldn't like him, because he's music is so bombastic and fantastic. His lyrics are just like poems. And if you really understand them, they are very tragic sometimes.

  • THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!!!!!!!

  • My dad had this album on CD when I was a kid and used to listen to it on headphones at full volume. Not heard this song in about 10 years “I remember everything!” all the lyrics perfectly...I remember asking my dad what a Horny Angel was...he told me “a lass that's well up for it!” I was only 8 and had no idea what he meant haha. I guess at that age, I still had a hell of a lot to learn about rock and roll! Needless to say, my youth wasn't wasted rocking out to this song!

  • I don't know any bad songs by Jim. He's a master of music, so simple as that.

  • Quote "The guitar bled for about a week afterward but it rung out beautifully,

and I was able to play notes that I had never even heard before." I learned guitar because of this song and my fingers still bleed :) :) :) :) :) God dam it daddy :)

  • just a hint if youtube says somthin about music like this post this in the video or in the discription

"Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use."

  • i still have the cd with this song on it xD

  • No dislikes! See how good of a song this is...? ^_^

  • the intro is so super amazing.

Jim Steinman is an absolute amazing writer

  • This is my favourite Meatloaf song!!

I had the Compact Cassette of Bat out of Hell II. back into hell. when Meat Loaf started singing funny I decided it was time to buy the CD as well.

  • this songs kicks ass and fuckin rocks!!

  • One of the only rock songs I've heard with bag pipes at the end

  • An amazing monologue! My favorite from him.

  • this song tanks.

  • There's a Three Stooges marathon and I just had to listen to this.

"The three men I admire most must be Curly, Larry, Moe." :)

  • grew up listening to Meatloaf..... still awesome live and beats the living hell out of the modern bullshit people call music...... Meatloaf and Jim Steinman was a perfect match for lyrical talent and vocal ability!! wish there more artists of Meats calibre!!!

  • Holy shit, 0 dislikes?

well... If any song deserves that its this one

  • God damn it daddy! You know I love you... BUT YOU'VE GOT A HELL OF A LOT TO LEARN ABOUT ROCK AND ROLL!

  • @yorkyrose too right, a few of my college friends have listen to Meatloaf but out of everyone im the only one who listens to it everyday. All of his songs are far better than the crap thats out now.

  • EPIC nothing more to say really :D

  • Wasted youth!

  • The three men I admire most are Curly, Larry, Moe.

  • SPOKEN PEACE by JIM STEINMAN - first appeared as Love and Death and an American Guitar on BAD FOR GOOD!!!

The vocals on THE SONG are MEAT LOAF - this is indeed the only person who has officially recorded this song!!

  • Good?

    No!

    Better?

    No!

    The best?

    No!

    The very best?

    yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss...

    .

  • i havent heard this song in forever

  • @vezok123456789

That's why I've posted it. I didn't like the fact that a song like this would be forgotten.

  • @riddervanbelgie Forgotten?Not while I'm still alive.

  • This song will never be forgotten

  • @riddervanbelgie It wouldn't have been for... I REMEMBER EVERYTHING!!!

  • @vezok123456789 this song wont be forgotten brah

  • @vezok123456789 But I remember EVERYTHING!!!!!

  • Jim Steinman does the spoken part like he also did with You took the words right out of my mouth. Meatloaf is not speaking.

  • Steinman writes, Meat belts them out. theire perfect for each other. bat 1 and 2 are both classic albums

  • Thanks for sharing, love it :-)

  • wasted youth thats me

  • his music & words wirriten by jim steinman & co-written & arranged by meatloaf, sorry but meatloaf hasn't written decent music bat out of hell 1&2 done by jim!!!

  • AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • I am sick of all of your arguing about Steinman or Meat. Who gives a F?

Lay back and "put on the phones" and try to remember why..........

    What are you all? Accountants?

  • I am sick and tired of everyone nit picking the Steinman issue apart.

Sit back "put on the phones" and remember why you listening in the first place!

The song used to mean something deep to all of us.

What have you all become F ing accountants!!!!!!

  • actualy if you look at the credits on the Cd literature its Jim Steinman on this part. I geus it was meatlaofs way of giving him some recognition after making some very bad ass songs for him.

  • it doesn't matter who spoke the piece, it still stays a very nice song. But the radio stations here in Belgium aren't playing this song anymore, and I don't like that.

  • My god, I haven't heard this song in forever. I caught the end bit of it on the radio the other day, and it's been stuck in my head since then. Love it.

  • @singingladybug9 Maybe it's a good idea to say that to the account: RedPony2.

  • fucking awsome tune so my song lol nice one m8

  • josquin des prez is the real composer behind this song

in fact most of the songs by jim are like 400 years old

  • this song was first written in the 1600's jim is a fraud and a cheat and ripping off fans

  • I love that line really makes me smile:

That a wasted youth is better by far, than a wise and productive old age

a wasted youth is better by far, than a wise and productive old age.

    My life haha!!!

  • Forget the questions someone gimmie another beer!

  • and i ran upstairs to my parents bedroom, mommy and daddy were sleeping in the moonlight, slowly i open the door, creeping in the shadows right up to the foot of their bed, i raised the guitar hight above my head! and just as i was about to bring the guitar crashing down upon the center of the bed my father woke up screaming: STOP!! WAIT A MINUTE!! STOP IT BOY!! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING???

  • No...originally done by steinman on his bad for good album.

Years before bat out of hell 2.

    Great album

  • i first heard this when i was 10 years old, scared the c#*p out of me!!!!!!!

  • As someone who is pushing into that alleged "wise and productive old age", I can only say that they're right.

A wasted youth IS much better.

  • Farnazii... Wasted Youth and Everything louder than everything else were tracks released on bat II but were on albums prior only released in england. Jim Steinman wrote both.... and yes, on the original album that these appeared... Jim Steinman did the voice on wasted youth.

  • You are wrong it was originaly sung by jim steinman on the album bad for good

  • a wasted youth is better by far than a wise and productive old age !! so tru lol

  • "I don't remember if it was a Telecastor or a Stratocastor," lol's, so genious

  • probly one of his best songs to date (:

  • Oh man, this is like being a kid all over again. My dad used to play this all the time.... Love love love Bat out of Hell 2!!! One of the best rock albums ever produced. But what else can you expect from Jim Steinman? =)

  • meatloaf: i wanna be you

  • A hymn of praise to Rock n Roll.

  • @usernameofnobody Its the only of its kind, one of the best songs he's sung I really think.

When I was a kid I knew of the guitar that the stratocaster was, but just didnt know its name, I have a stratocaster, my favourite all time guitar, wanted one as a kid and now I have one!

I am not a big fan of telecasters though, not quite sure why, just dont have that iconic look to them I think.

  • @usernameofnobody No! DIDN'T YOU HEAR THE MAN ITS PRAISE TO WASTED YOUTHS!
