  • like this tune

  • wow its good to be white in the 1950's

  • @johnnytodumb420

Oh dear ... are you a self-loathing white person?

  • I turned 13 in 1953 and was 19 in 1959...My teen years in the 50's...Can I please go back..

  • @tiggs95 Me too.

  • I am very happy to see the vidoe Good times good music from you, hopefully the others also are happy for You

  • Steady I Really Like This Video Good times good music

  • Good, I like that you share this video Good times good music, I wish success always

  • Nice Video Good times good music That You Share , So Very Nice Thanks You

  • I Really Like The Video Good times good music From Your

  • Your Video Good times good music Is Very Useful Sharing

  • ah, Santo and Johnny, in one of the best tunes of all time.

  • You picked a perfect song to open with, the one I always think of first when I remember the sock hops I went to in the late 50s and early 60s ... "Sleepwalk" pretty much describes my state of awareness during that time, too -- lol.

  • This was the time to live in! When the chrome was thick and the women (and men) were straight! None of this hypochondriac white guilt, no kissing every ass darker than yours, no apologizing for American supremacy, no acceptance of unnatural sexuality, no giving a shit about someones little bullshit feelings, AND NO TRENDY ATHEISTS COMING ON YOUTUBE AND NOT SHUTTING THE FUCK ABOUT ABOUT THEIR ATHEISM. The good old days...

  • and not a fucking terrorist in the sky

  • McCarthyism, racism, no gay rights, THE fear of god, no technology, women were second class citizens..

    NO THANKS

  • @davidallenroth no technology? i think not. If you couldn't live without extremely complex technology, you are one sad sad man.

  • @Kaneownzu

i never said i couldnt live without it..

  • @davidallenroth No technology?? Give me a fucking break. The 1950s were the technology revolution! What about all the modern medicine that came out at that time, the hitbreak records, custom cars, the home projectors etc?? The era you're talking about is the 1850s!

  • i wish this era still had the '50s attitude, but without racial segregation and today's technology.

  • @firringsquad14

then it wouldnt be the 50's lol

  • I agree with many points here, the music and the fashion were lovely and fun, but there was alot of things going on that the 50's should not be praised for such as prejudice, racism and sexism. Also the rise of capitalism in America and the affect that that had, not only on so many Americans that were left un mentioned, but the rest of the world as well

  • @AllieRoseify Ppl came here under this vid to naturally eulogize the 50's (like me). While it is important to point out the racism etc.. I seriously doubt the majority of ppl praising the 50's also means they're "praising racism". If u look we establish the point about the "bad times" in the 50's but moreover the reason why we admire the different aspects of the 50's.

side note- I should also point out the fashion and not even the music is the major factor of my admiration of 1950's America. :)

  • if you HATE the 50s THAT MUCH, why do you even bother watching the videos? I happen to love the 50s..its better than the garbage now...by far

  • @danzigvi living in the past

  • the 50's was a very racist era, where women's place was in the kitchen serving her man, gay men were seen as an abomination and any one who wasn't white was considered next to an animal!!!

there is nothing remarkable about the 50's...

  • @TheYaom

Blow it out of your ass, sweetie. With a name like Yaom, your feeble-mindedness

comes as no surprise. By the way, the last time I compared animals with people, it

seemed obvious that to compare people TO animals would be an insult, to our four-

legged friends (though undoubtedly not yours . . . how's life in the turd world treating

    you, anyway?)

  • i wouldn't want to live in the 1950's because of all the racism and that kind of shit.

  • WHAT SONG IS THIS THAT IS PLAYING?

  • @reinex3 sleepwalk by santo and johnny

  • @reinex3 Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny.

  • I lived it and it was the greatest time in the historyof the world! We got caught up in coming out of the darkness off ww2 that killed 100million and cripled 500 million and Korea to boot, we unwound and brother did we lose it but it set the stage for decay we moved to good feeling with drugs and dealers, whoredom to the tens, marriages went in the toilet etc the viet nam war changed it all and slow, we saw it coming but we were not smart enough to stop it, maybe you kids can! its up to you now

  • @ravenwolf789 The 50s was still dark for Europe, which didn't fully recover from the war until the 60s while in the States, Americans were taught to mistrust the rest of the world and regard anything not American with suspicion. Like every other decade the 50s has many things that are best left there.

  • @UlsterGroundhopper By the mid 50s Europe was recovering. So not all of the 50s were dark times. In the UK we were able to live our life the same way as Americans in 1955. America was not the only country partying in the 50s. We were too. We were so relieved the war had finished and it was the technological revolution for the whole world. The 60s pushed it further, but the 50s started it.

  • I watch this video and wonder what happened to America. It seems to be in a downward spiral of moral decay, sadly.

  • @danzigvi oh yes because in the 50's human values and morality were up the roof

-women were slaves, their place was in the kitchen serving her man and simply being in the shadow of her husband.

-people of color were treated bad, degrading them, segregating them, humilliating them, abusing them was ok because their skin colour was different.

-people who were born gay were an abomination. the list goes on.

the fifties were great only for white hetero christian republican ronald reagan types.

  • 1950 years. The best and unforgettable time. The world and we were happy - day and night! Thanks for this video

  • @AssasinOfBrotherhood WHAT WE REALLY NEED TO DO IS GET RID OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU. THE FASTER THE BETTER (AND WE WILL SOONER THEN YOU THINK ASSHOLE). OH YES I"M WHITE.

  • a civilization murdered by cultural Marxism.

  • YOU FORGOT JAMES DEAN......... JAMES DEAN IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ICONS OF THE 50s--.......

  • the 50's sucked... back then you would die from polio and the racism was up in your face... blacks were treated like garbage, mexicans wouldn't even be allowed to be on tv and women were expected to be their husband's maids.... the 50's were great for heterosexual, christian white all-american males..

  • @TheYaom

As society has developed so have our values and standards, yet so very little has changed. Women are still beaten, children abused, whole nations are starving, wars are still occurring, we still have racism, prejudice, sexism, I mean you name it, apart from the music, where's the difference. Man is a fool driven by the lust for power to abuse. Every step we take to improve the environment is destroyed by yet another abuse, sorry old mate, the 1950's was no worse than today.

  • @TheYaom You didn't die from Polio because they had vaccinations to stop it and it worked. Children didn't die from it at all in the 50s. Maybe before WW2 times but polio ceased to exist by the mid 50s.

  • How did people survive the 1950's without internet porn? I couldn't do it!

  • Don't I just love those fifties American cars!!

  • i woulda LOVED to live in the fifties..but umm the whole racism thing.. yea..

  • i would rather live right in this time period. I mean i know we have debt, & alot of other problems now but as a minority the 50s sucks. The only people who could enjoy the 50s are white men.

  • What a shitty time period. Sexism, racism, ect, ect. You people that wanna live in that time wouldn't last 5 hours before screaming get me the fuck outta here.

  • Who will ever know the exact reason why America is so shitty now, but I know if I could choose any time period to live in, it would be anywhere from 1920's to the 1960's

  • Having been a kid in the fifties, it seems like a complete different world now. But not all of it was fond memories. The Korean Conflict, racism, segregation, but no doubt the US of A was the strongest economic engine of the world and there was a very prosperous middle class. I remember a saying back then when someone wanted to illustrate the reliability of something. It was as "sound as the dollar". That is laughable now just over 50 years later. What happened to us?

  • @Fedproman women left the kitchen

  • @Fedproman for one, we were kinda tricked into believing in a piece of paper.

  • @gardenshock I like the way you put that. Of course were were tricked into believeing that a lot before the fifties.

  • @Fedproman liberals like you is what happened to us.

  • @KevUrbie What in the world did I have in my statement that would bring you to that conclusion? If you knew me, you would realize how absurd that is.

  • @Fedproman because you mentioned how negative segregation and racism are. no one cares about either of them except liberals or conservatives who want to sound 'fair and balanced'

  • @KevUrbie I do care about justice for people, I don't care about sounding fair and balanced, and I certainly don't play the rather(in my opinion) infantile games of "Left/Right" or "Liberal/Conservative" They are primarily used by the Ruling Elites to funnel the frustration of the masses down into nothing, and keep them blinded as to what is really being done to them. I grew beyond that years ago. Take care

  • @KevUrbie Yes, I agree with you. There still is a lot of both. The simple truth is that even today, most whites(and many other minority groups)don't particularly want to live in the same neighborhoods as blacks.

  • When somebody tells me about 50's the first thing that comes in my mind is the 1955 Le Mans disaster

  • Does anyone know the name of the first song? Or know any song like it? Just guitar without any lyrics? Thank you.

  • @MaximilianMontesa Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny

  • @kbs1212 Thanks

  • Why wasn't I born in 1942 instead of 1992? =/

  • @SamLuvsJamesDean I can't help but respond to you. I'm glad I was born in 1963. My son was born in 1991 and I had to raise my kids by myself cause we lost my husband to cancer in 1996. I knew how wild this world is and therefore I kept the kids from going to neighbors houses, they only got to go to daycare 1 hr. before school and 2 hours after school. They never knew what is was like to walk to school. I kept a close knit eye on them. Now there wonderful young people.

  • @SamLuvsJamesDean Ok sorry about your husband.

  • @SamLuvsJamesDean if you were to be born in 1942 you'd be almost 70 years old today..... you live today because this is the age u were meant to be in.

the 50's were good but they sucked too, sexism was rampant, women were expected to be maids, homosexuals were outcasts and evil, people of color were treated like garbage..... the 50's were great for heterosexual white christian all-american males... that's about it.

  • @TheYaom But i would not mind, being a 70 year old women now, at least i could look back and say i grew up in a amazing time! =) And your wrong, i was born in the wrong era, everybody tells me that. The actors, fashion, and music, were amazing in the 50's. I don't like the media nowadays at all! Why did i have to be born a crappy generation, when your famous only for you looks? Nowadays, the kardashian slut sisters are everywhere, teen idols nowadays have no talent, etc...!

  • what song is this

  • @JonasBrosthers122 The song is called "Sleepwalk" and originally recorded by two brothers from Brooklyn, New York named Santo Farina and Johnny Farina, best known by their stage names "Santo & Johnny". The song debuted August 17, 1959.

  • Whats the name of the first song?

  • nicest cars that were built was between 1950- 1960 Bel Air :)

  • Beautiful...

  • Santo & Johnny doing their immortal recording of " Sleepwalk"!

  • people were more racist in the 50s

  • I was born in 1952 , so, i remember the tail end of the 1950's , even though , the early 1960's were just like the 1950's . And i had a 1960's childhood too . If we didnt have the British Invasion, i really think the 1950's style would have lasted till 1970 . When the Beatles came over , everything changed , i remember it well, it was the '' new music '' , and beach party movies looked really dumb , and anyone with Brylcream in thier hair wasn't so cool anymore . So many bands, vanished !

  • @1952kid I'm in the U.K. and I agree that, whilst the Beatles were very good, the Juke Box/Pop style music was damaged and unfortunately never really recovered. However, I've a good store of 45's from that era and here in the U.K. a number of T.V. adverts are reviving them thank goodness. 'Happy Days' is also run from time to time.

  • WE LOVE IKE!

  • whole different world back than

  • Wha's this song called? Like the beggining song

  • Why even have a picture of Truman, I know he was prez until Jan '53, but everybody hated him in that period. Ike Eisenhower was the 1950s President.

  • this song was in sleepwalkers the horror flim

  • I pretend I'm in the 50s....I dress like it and I lead my life like it....It fits me so it works. God bless all of you.....I have to go now and have dinner at the table in the kitchen with my family after we say grace. Tomorrow I have to go to church too.

  • Awesome

  • So glad this was my time to grow-up in these wonderful years!

  • Admit it. Everybody wants to be 20-29 in every decade between 1920 and 1990.

  • brings back great memories of my teen age years loved those years and the great memories i have . thanks for posting

  • I don't wish I was born in the 50s, because if I were born in the 50s I would have never got to see how great it was. I would much rather have been born in the late 30s and early 40s just so that way I can see how great the music was, how people actually danced, and how they fell in love and stayed together forever. Sometimes I swear I was born in the wrong decade. I feel like I miseed out on alot and I am only 21.

  • @RoseDrops20 You were born when you were suppose to be. Many of us may feel we lost out in something in life, but that is the way life is. What matters is how we live it now. Yes, people stayed married then and there was no living together, because people knew what sin was then. Today its not the case, and so, you can be an example of how life was and how it should be. God knows, this is not the life He wants us to live.

  • @2groomers Completely agree with you!

  • @2groomers ya but dont u sometimes wish u cud have been bron then?

  • @RoseDrops20 Don't give up. At 21 you've got a whole lot of living ahead of you. I'm 53 and wish I was 21 again!

  • i'm 21, and I think i was born in the wrong decade! thanks for my mom, i'm in love with this decade, from my point of view the 50s-60s was the best!!

  • james dean, marilyn monroe, elvis presley and the rock & roll, the cars, banana split = 50s

  • at 4:48, it s my mommy

  • so how did we go from that to what we are now?

  • @cra139 LBJ and liberalism ... between printing paper money no longer backed by gold or silver in order to pay for the Vietnam war and new social welfare programs ... led us to the 20% interest rates under Carter ... One parent working was no longer enough, and the feminists pushed women to work instead of raising families ... That is how it happened. Then the push for "diversity" caused a lowering of standards and corporations were made to juggle quotas ... with less qualified workers

  • @cra139 we move backwards and start being racist again -_-

  • I want Steven Spielberg to do another movie set around the 50's. Not a war movie but something like what Matt Damon was saying in his stories as a farmer boy in Saving Private Ryan. And some small town stories. Man i wish I grew up in 50's. The girls looked so nice....the music was so good. There should be a high budget show on HBO set in the 1950's.

  • I couldn't live in the 50's. Something about this time period is...ugh, hard to embrace. I probably couldn't live in the 60's, 70's maybe, and 80's maybe/sorta', since I was born in 1988. I guess some of the music was good and all, but I'm more of a current type of person. Like I'm not the type of person who still dwells over a certain decade, I always move forward, unlike my uncle who can't escape the goddamn early 1980's.

  • I was born in late 50s and grew up in the 60s but I still love the 50s music today then the music they have out.

  • Hopefully in the near future, we will find a way to go to a parallel universe where the 1950's never ended.

  • @pieman97405 Eh, sounds a lot like the Fallout video game series. Set in parallel universe after a nuclear holocaust, where everything is 1950's themed, except it's in th 23rd century.

  • @darthsugi89 It is an awesome game, but that universe has a number of faults. I say parallel universe instead of time machine though because I do not want to deal with the 60's or the 50's ending.

  • @darthsugi89 It is an awesome game, but that universe has a number of faults. I say parallel universe instead of time machine though because I do not want to deal with the 60's or the 50's ending.

  • What a walk down memory lane..... I want to go back., those were really the "good old days".

  • @shearsher The Song Title is Sleepwalk by Santo and Johnny

  • will some one PLEASE tell me what the 1st song is... its so beautiful i have to know it

  • didn't have to tag Sal Mineo -- I'd recognize him in any crowd......

  • i loved the 50s and mid 60s thanks for posting

  • I'm 11, and all my life i've wanted to live in the 50's.

  • @itachilover911melt Well, you'll probably retire in the '50s- the 2050s that is.

  • what's the first track on this called?

  • @alexjemmett Santo & Johnny- Sleepwalk

  • @itachilover911melt it is called reincarnation..

  • @itachilover911melt Your profile shows 54;)

  • @zeke1312 Uhm... So?

    I can't sign up if I said I was 9. (I was 9 when I made the account)

  • wats the first song called?

  • I wish i got to experience this im so in love with the 50's i always listen to the music in the car

    im 14 :(

  • School was a great place to go . dances, sports, and real TEACHERS.

We didn't have metal detectors in the doorways. dress up day was Friday's and it didn't matter how much money you had, but then again everyday you came to school dressed nice. IT WAS CALLED PRIDE.

  • I grew up in the 50s. If I was told not to do smoething I LISTENED AND DIDN'T GET A LAWYER AND TAKE THE TO COURT FOR CHILD ABUSE.

  • I think the 80's were better than the 50's because people didnt have to worry about atomic bombs dropping in our country, you could also dress however you wanted to,but in the 50's if you wore a miniskirt or tank top or had your hair straight or spiky, you would get frowned upon, just no freedom in the 50's,and also it was a revolutionary decade that created everything we have today like computers, cellphones(remember the brick?),awesome movies like the terminator or aliens, and better teen movies.

  • Thanks to them I get the pleasure of watching obese, young women walking around in tight shirts and pants that show every unflattering fold and crease.

I get to enjoy a plethora of sweatpants and Crocs when I do my grocery shopping.

I get the pleasure of living in a society that refers to 50's attire as "dressy clothes" when back in the 50's they were just considered normal attire.

Yay 2010! What a great time to be alive.

  • Everyone was well-dressed, regardless of socioeconomic status.

From executives to laborers; everyone wore buttoned down collared shirts, ties, sport coats, slacks and nice shoes. The women wore dresses that were beautiful and not too revealing.

The early 60's was the destruction of fashion. I have nothing against the liberal movement. I'm all for equality and peace. However, they did screw the rest of us in terms of fashion.

  • Watching it brings back so many memories, rushing home each afternoon to see Arlene, Justine and Bob, Pat Molitari, I sent away for the dance steps and the special books. A wonderful era with great music and the kids were surely young ladies and gentlemen, not the hoods and fowl mouth young people we have today.

  • i was born in 1975 but i would have loved to been around in the 50s i love every thing about the 50s the actors the singers (elvis) the style the way people treated each outher it would of been great just to be there

  • 1950's had class all i gottah say

  • America in the 50's, was at it's best!

  • damn it... born at almost 40 years too late to even grow up in that decade...

looks like our only hope now is that scientists get off their lazy asses and MAKE US A GOD DAMN TIME MACHINE ALREADY!

  • what's the first song? ..should put a few captions to know who's who

  • @gusdrach it's Sleepwalk by Santo & Johnny..LOVE IT! :)

  • I'd much prefer to live in the fifities. They were much more family oriented and moral. My memory is of girls dressed modestly and kids calling everyone sir.

  • @rp316117 Still exists in some countries like Syria.

  • @rp316117 Yes the 50's was a pretty good time period but it wasn't as good people think it is. A book called The Way We Never Were explains it.

  • @fashionhistorylover

We remember jukeboxes and forget racial segregation.

Good and bad from every era.

  • @rp316117 Same here and dont forget times were great under Ike!

  • @rp316117 they were also super racist

  • @rp316117 my parents grew up in the 50's, its interesting hearing about growing up in those days, and how very different things are today. Im just glad Im not growing up in todays age, kids just dont know what they have anymore.

  • @rp316117 Oh yeah and blacks were forced to sit in the back of the bus and women were just slaves. Good times? For white guys with crew cuts maybe. Don't feed me that crap about the 50's being more moral.

  • @rhcmlc QQ

  • @rhcmlc As a matter of fact I did have my hair short and I am proud of it. I am a man and I believe in men being men and women being women not the androgonous mess we have today.

  • @rhcmlc

every generation has it's downfalls but you can't damn the whole decade because of it.

People back then had something that doesn't seem to exist anymore.morals, honesty, patriotism,

and being able to walk down your own street without worrying that someone is going to kill you.

women were ladies and men behaved like men.

  • Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens ... What more could you ask for?! Two of the best singers from the 1950s! Love it! I have sleepwalk by Ritchie uploaded! Excellent song choice XD

  • I thinks of the good times of the1950s and remember it well.

  • Okay, I grew up in the 50s. Here's the GOOD--Neighborhoods were solid, moms were home being June Cleaver, on Sat. we went out to play and came home when the street lights went on (our parents knew where to find us), no being rushed around to activities because if we couldn't walk there we didn't go, family life was peaceful, unstressed, 0 drugs, gangs at my integrated high school... Here's the BAD--Polio, Cold War fears, air-raid drills, no air conditioning except in a few stores & theaters

  • @zgravmary they still had fans to stay cool,my dog has polio & still fetches the ball & plays catch with me,they were using heroin in the 50's(charlie parker)they had plenty of gangs(the outsiders)& the world is always at war. we just have to get rid of the dumb niggers & filthy spics & suicidal a-rabs & everything will be just fine & dandy!!!!

  • @rrrjjjmmm100 OH, you reminded me of some of the other BADS -- Black people were shut out of a lot of neighborhoods, schools, professions, and public places. My ex-husband had polio and he'd love to be able to fetch the ball and play catch. And if we got rid of the dumb, filthy, & suicidal whatevers, who would be left for you to hate?

  • @zgravmary i forgot the fucking cat/dog eating slanted eye gooks!!!

  • Gosh how would have loved to be a teen in these times! hopefully they make time machines soon hahaha!

  • I think i was born 35 years to late

  • @mwr0585 make that 45 for me.

  • This song "sleep walk" will always remind me of summers at Paragon Park-- Amusement Park at Nantasket Beach, Massachusetts. It seemed they constantly had this going in the background even into the early 1960s.........and the ever present aroma of fried clams, coppertone and cigarette smoke

  • lol! 'the good times' in the 50's were SO good that they featured twice in the title! :D

  • Comment removed

  • Great i still live in this decade :O)

  • what song is this...

  • @daRkjames99 the first song is Sleepwalk by Santo & Johnny

  • I wish i was 18 in 50's, cool times... and America was still America... Family oriented country with values... no mexican, spic, beaner, chink, wetback, spanish, puerto rican, and all others with out respect and family values... (pls don't take me wrong way cause i do know clean, working class, family oriented spanish people)

  • @pirat024 u white pieces of shit is y this world is so fuck up starting wars over money and greed y do u hate mexicans???just cuz we do the jobs that you white people dont want to do but still want us out of this country just cuz u guys are all greedy

  • @Mr2brewed Do you know what a working class is??? how about family oriented? From what you say you work so this doesn't concern you than!!! :) And im not White!!!

  • @pirat024 Amen. I too wish MAerica was America not this multicultural BS. Immigrnats do not assimilate and the liberal hippies have ruined the US by letting in third world people like hindus, muslims and pagans.

  • SUGAPIE 4200 SAYS IT ALL--- AND ALL RIGHT. WHY DO THEY KEEP CALLING ''RAP''-- MUSIC?

  • J'aurais bien aimé vivre à cette époque mais aux États-Unis. My god que c'était beau. La musique, les voitures, les vêtements. Wow!!

  • Regarding mores then and now, Michael Ventura had a great line many years ago in the LA Weekly:, "In a godless Eden, the only fool is the one who doesn't grab for the biggest apple!" I always loved that phrase and it really describes - better than anything else I've ever heard - where we are right now!

  • Excellent! Actresses were really beautiful then , and the men were handsome!

  • Isn't the song Sleepwalk by Santo & Johnny?

Not Bill Haley & His Comets - Shake, Rattle and Roll.

  • Blues Muddy waters, John Hocker, Ray Charles Rock'n'roll Elvis MR. J.R. Cash Bill Haley, Little richard, Roy orbison, Jerry lee lewis Chuck Berry, Classic car's Pomade on hair try to be gentleman, John Wayne Martin Luther King... ....minus the racism

    and today "lady" KAKA!!
