It really annoys me how shit people make this out to be. Just cause people are so used to special effects and gore these days in horror movies. It's the phycological effect of this movie that makes it so scary.
The people that says it sucks don't realize that what happens is really quite legitimate to the rest of the story/legend. The Witch takes one of their friends, leading them on, over to the Witch's House. Mike of course goes in the basement, where he thinks he hears Josh's voice.
He drops the camera... When Heather goes down after him, and see's that he's in the corner, she screams. Simply since she knew that the witch puts her victims in a corner before she kills them. Probably using Black Magic

A woman gave me a tour in the woods. I didn't know where we were going but she seemed to know exactly where we were. There was a very narrow bridge over a river that she told me to cross. So I did, not realizing she stayed behind. When I got to the other side...I saw a small, scary, house with a mans arm sticking out one of the windows like a murder scene. SCARIEST prank anyone EVER pulled on me! I screamed my head off running back over that bridge, just to hear that woman laughing hysterical.
In my opinion you dont wanna go stomping into someones yard expecting to get something good out of it specially without even knowing wtf your doing. First off knocking on someones door long enough sooner or later someones gonna answer you. That being said whats dead, should stay dead Respect it! Period...
will someone tell me what is going on at the end? i watched the kids cry at each other, go crazy, hallucinate, eat leaves, throw their map into the river because it would somehow help them?, and see a shaky camera being thrown across the woods for 2 hours hoping that the ending will be somewhat decent but... its not.its bad. its terrible. it doesnt deserve the hype it got,, in my opinion

Literally 3 students go into a little village near a big forest and ask questions to the people living near the forest which is meant to be haunted by a witch and they ask some person and they say the witch makes the person stand in the corner of the room and then kills them and the person around them and that is what happens in this film... now you dont have to watch the whole bloody start of the film now lol!

The people living near the forest say that there was a man named Rustin Parr who would kidnap 2 children and bring them to his basement, sending one to face a corner while he kills the other, forcing the one facing the corner to hear the other be killed. Then he killed the kid facing the wall. But you got the ending right.
The house has much too modern fixtures to be abandoned all that long. Items such as an enameled hot water heater, plasticized electrical wiring(it should at least be shellacked/fiber) point to it being outfitted in at least the 1970s, perhaps later.

My dad said this movie was scary because of how real it seemed at times. That and the mysterious ending, that today we can just add in anything hilarious to add some reality to it.
I love how there is no real proof that anything that happened in this movie was supernatural. I always assumed it was supernatural, but not seeing anything supernatrual happen on film made it so much more powerful and terrirfying.
@dominoz22 in the beginning of the movie a cult child killer was arrested for killing multipul children in the town this was close to. The child killer would place a group of children in the basement and tell them to each face the corner. He would tell them to face the corner and not look if they would hear screaming or he would kill them. He would kill them one by one this way keeping order with fear. Girl was screaming cause she couldn't keep up with the Mike running after Josh.

in the stories that the locals tell at the start, an eccentric hermit named rustin parr killed a bunch of kids in the 1940s in the area, and he used to make one of the kids stand in the corner while he killed another one, the childrens handprints seen in the house might be from that time and this might be that house... there were rumours that he was possessed by the blair witch, he claimed to have no memory of the killings. he's long dead in the story, so seeing the same MO here implies...

This will always be one of the greatest horror films ever made. The way the camera view is as if someone is walking with it in their hands is brilliant because it makes the footage seem so realistic. If someone can watch this in a closed, dark room and not be absolutely terrified after watching this, they probably don't have a pulse.

I love how there is no real proof that anything that happened in this movie was supernatural. I always assumed it was supernatural, but not seeing anything supernatrual happen on film made it so much more powerful and terrirfying.

@dominoz22 in the beginning of the movie a cult child killer was arrested for killing multipul children in the town this was close to. The child killer would place a group of children in the basement and tell them to each face the corner. He would tell them to face the corner and not look if they would hear screaming or he would kill them. He would kill them one by one this way keeping order with fear. Girl was screaming cause she couldn't keep up with the Mike running after Josh.

So everyone tells everything about the Blair Witch what it looked like and what it did to kill people. So what significantly they told Josh, Mike, and the girl is that there was this one person who was killed by standing in the corner of the room. So Mike was killed the same way. That's the story

@dominoz22 It was a really scary story nonetheless, because we never get to see the witch, so our imagination goes wild with scary possibilites. It also set the foundation for movies like paranormal activity, cloverfield, chronicle, etc...so the movie is one of the alltime greats.
The ending was bullshit nonetheless :)

in the stories that the locals tell at the start, an eccentric hermit named rustin parr killed a bunch of kids in the 1940s in the area, and he used to make one of the kids stand in the corner while he killed another one, the childrens handprints seen in the house might be from that time and this might be that house... there were rumours that he was possessed by the blair witch, he claimed to have no memory of the killings. he's long dead in the story, so seeing the same MO here implies...

This will always be one of the greatest horror films ever made. The way the camera view is as if someone is walking with it in their hands is brilliant because it makes the footage seem so realistic.
