  • where the hell are we going as a nation,we are scared to carry a flag on our national day,we are threaten with disiplinary action by employers, for being proud,no-one calls the jocks the taffs and the micks racist when they sing loud and sing proud,we should stand tall and stand proud of what our forefathers have done for this nation as a hole, yes we have made mistakes in the past, but the biggest mistake is to allow the our pride to be down trodden and national pride to fade into nothingness

  • Respect and admiration to all those men and women who fight for this land that is the British Isles! Stay safe and come home soon!

  • @DoneronChips The problem with dying for one's country, while an entirely noble and selfless act, by default it leaves it in the hands of those who would not die for it.

  • @DeltaFoxtrotWhiskey3 and fortunately also in the hands of those who would but haven't done so.

  • I bought a poppy from a local pub here in the US - when do I start wearing it?

  • @UrbaneFarmer About two weeks before November 11th. Generally they cease to be worn after the 11th.

  • This Brit now lives in Nova Scotia, Canada. Breaks my heart to see my old country in its current state, overpopulated, overspent and utterly dirty.

  • @DoneronChips ..and that my friend is what is wrong with us as a species. Altruism for a nation state rather than a fellow human being.

  • Speaking as a Welshman and as a proud Falklands veteran, we have Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau (Land of My Fathers) as our national anthem, Scotland have The Flower of Scotland as theirs, so what's wrong with England having this as their national anthem? It's all well and good having God Save The Queen, but that's the communalist anthem of Great Britain. So yes, I would have to support England in having their own specific national anthem.

  • @RevMalcolmWilliams Thank you for your service! from a 15 year old lad from England :) When Im old enough, I will vow to thee my country like my father and brother! RIP to all fallen hero's xxxxxxxxxx

  • @RevMalcolmWilliams It's not because it's a United Kingdom that it needs to be homogeneous. It's important to remember why your flag has 2 cross and 3 colours on it.

  • @IMRAN3521 Go off and shag your cousin, and leave our country to us

  • @IMRAN3521 I would like to see you try

  • @IMRAN3521 Or, more likely, we nuke you before any of this can happen. Your own nuclear weapons would reach about as far as Iran, which means we'd kill two birds with one stone. Then India can wipe your third world, war-torn, treacherous dung-hole of a country off the map by incorporating you back into a Raj sized greater India. Then you'll be ruled by Hindu's.

  • @IMRAN3521 If you do invade us and take over, will you please make sure, whomever does it improves, syntax, grammar and punctuation, Thanks.

  • @Islamisbad1 Nice one. I support you.

  • @IMRAN3521 Go back to fucking goats in your cave you carpet chewing rag head.

  • @Tlb91UK BRITAIN ISN'T A country you jackass

  • @SeiferOptics I don't know what he said, but just try and relax and forget about it.

  • I don't give a fuck what country your from this should the national anthem of the planet DEATH TO THE ARABS!

  • @SeiferOptics Wow.

  • @SeiferOptics be quiet

  • @DoneronChips we still have a lot of greatness left in us no matter whats happening atm

  • @slipknot4eva94 ... I was ok until ...cashpoint?

  • We are a nation of immigrants, from the Normans, but I am English!

  • @adamc1407 At last, every Nation is a Nation of Immigrants, so who cares? :-)

  • Portuguese and British, together until the end of the world. Fear not! Our alliance stands against the test of time! Since 1373 that our forefathers and us are joined in a sacred alliance! At the sound of the "A Portuguesa" and at the melody of "I Vow to Thee My Country" we shall defeat our enemies.

Our empires may be part of history, but noone can take away our pride. Rule Britannia! Rule Lusitania!

  • @AvatarMarxon90 Oldest alliance and not many people know about it. So much respect, from the UK.

  • @AvatarMarxon90

I didn't know that thanks for sharing

  • ALL HAIL

  • From across the pond, we salute you!

  • i am not british, i am english. if you ask a scotsman , he will say he is scotish, a welshman will say welsh, and the same for an irishman.so why must the english be different, you may not agree with me , but it,s only my opinion

  • I am still young enough to emember the Falklands> I came home from school and got told my best friend was on the Sheffield. I still miss him and appreciate what he did

  • T COULD BE BETTER IF THEY DIDNT LET JUST ANYBODY IN

GET OUT THE EU AND CLOSE THE BORDERS THEN IT WILL IMPROVE

AND NO I AM NOT A RACIST BEFORE YOU CALL ME ONE

  • @jendon3 unfortunetly due to the demographic of the nation, primarily the fact that couples are having fewer children and later in life means that the ratio of retired to employed to growing, meaning that there is not enough labour to fully supply the UK. So basically we need immigrants. Also coming from a nation that is essentially a massive mix of celts, romans, saxons, jutes, angels, danes, norse and normans it is fairly ironic to suddenly say we should keep others out.

  • Hang on folks.........we have our freedom......just look at the conflicts around the world. We will always thank our armed services for putting us in this position

  • I fought during WWII at Nijmegen as part of the Grenider Guards, where I was injured by shrapnel and returned to England. At the time I was fighting for King and country and now as I look back I wonder what I fought for, where the country that I served has become one where soilders are called murders or butchers by the people they have sworn to protect

  • @jkirk1262 Ancient Egypt invented toilets

  • God save the Queen!

  • I send my love to Britain from across the waves. We love you, England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. We love your music, tradition, history, style, glory, heritage, pomp and circumstance, and your people. From America

  • England used to dominate the globe, when "the sun never set on the British Empire."

However, imperialism fell out of fashion and out of favor. But England is still a beautiful and historic country. I think what makes a country great is the character and honor of its people. I'm American, and the trouble now with America is that people are not honoring God like they used to. There is more dishonesty in the people than there used to be. Curse of debt from Deuteronomy is on us.

  • @astrolog7000 You don't have to dominate the world to be a great country. You do have to lead it, however.

  • I think the chorale from Gustav Holst's Jupiter op. 32, was the best part of the Planet's. The fact they made a patriotic song out of it, would seem to support the opinion.

  • long live the common wealth, long live the queen *with love for the motherland from canada, can't wait til their royal highnesses william and katherine come! :D

  • What a gorgeous melody and a gorgeous song! England is a beautiful country, full of history, castles, and cathedrals. How could anybody be ashamed of being English? I am saying this as an American who has had the privilege of visiting England twice.

  • @astrolog7000 me too, I agree with you!!

  • Before you all be so quick to throw hate and discrimination at eastern culture.

Dont hastily forget the thousands of indian and other eastern commonwealth forces that fought for britain not too long ago.

  • @flargle1967 Well said!

  • @flargle1967 hear hear

  • @DoneronChips Yep but you got to start small first the Burka then the nasty fecking way they kill their meat, if they are still here find something else to ban, religion, clothing, smell etc ;-)

  • I vow to thee my Country....... proud to be English cos of MY Ancestors who were Celts Saxons, Vikings, Danes??? God bless this Nation don forget, they are yours too!!!

  • stop arguing and listen to the song

  • This is a very pleasant rendition. Who's performing it? (I realize this question may have been asked and answered, but I don't have the time to sift through 450 comments to find out, and your description doesn't say.)

  • to whoever disliked this, shame on you

  • "no finer sacrifice"

How foolish to sacrifice a life for something that is here today and gone tomorrow. Our nations are pillars of mere sand in comparison to world history. Truly, an anthem for the cannon fodder of the front lines.

  • this nation has forgotten how to be proud, for fear of upsetting those who see us as rasicst, the scot are proud the welsh are proud and the irish are also proud of their nations,so why the hell are the english so scared, maybe to many of the pc brigade.COME ON ENGLAND BE PROUD ONCE AGAIN ,and if those who come to our shores do not like this, maybe you should return to your homeland or go elsewhere, and stop putting this nation down and trying to make it something its not ,ITS ENGLAND,AND PROUD

  • @toby19635

I AM ENGLISH. Take heart, we are legion.

  • @toby19635 If someone calls you 'racist' look them square in the eye and say

"In your OPINION I'm a 'racist' but you ONLY say that because I'm White.'Anti-racist' is just a codeword for Anti-White.No one is flooding Black countries with non-blacks and telling everyone to 'mix'.No one is flooding Asian countries with non-asians and telling everyone to 'mix'

ONLY White countries are expected to 'assimilate' with the 3rd World and create a 'blended humanity'

    It's not diversity,it's Genocide "

  • @toby19635 the English are as proud as any other nation.

  • @toby19635 You are incredibly right. The English MUST be proud of who they are and put an end to Labour's immigration stupidity. Now that the Scottish National Party won the 2011 Scottish Parliament Election by a landslide, all English persons MUST vote for the party that represents the English values the best.

  • @toby19635 Thank you for saying what needs to be said. I am Scottish, English and Irish but above all British. I love this country and am very proud of it!

  • @toby19635 Hear, Hear. I second this. I do not live in England. i live in the US, but I agree 100%

  • British by birth English by the grace of god

  • LONG LIVE SOUTH AFRICA AND BRITAIN. BUT WE HAVE SHIT GOVERNMENTS, NOW OUR TWO COUNTRIES HAVE BEEN DESTROYED BY TURMOIL. I WANT OLD SOUTH AFRICA BACK, BUT NOT RACISM. WE'RE ALL EQUAL. LADYSMITH BLACK MAMBAZO <3

FROM A SOUTH AFRICAN IN THE UK.

  • @worldwar2madman I vow to thee,my friend.....good luck,pal

  • If only we could get out of the EU. Still these new videos I have uploaded should go down well. :-)

  • Flag waving has no place in Christianity

  • Britain > Europe

    greetings from America

  • @tubermann1 wont be long until the people of the nation become mindless Europeans with no nation to be proud of...

  • This American extends the expression of his gratitude to the British who have lost their lives in conflicts ranging across the globe. That you may not agree with us in all things and that you stand by us yet in spite of divergences of opinion is the testament to profound virtue of your nation. And though I am proud to be American, it by no means diminishes my respect for the British, who, now as before, have so much to be proud of. God save the Queen!

  • @KJenq Thanks for that, and I hope you had a good Independence day, still a moving piece of music where ever you come from.Cheers from a Brit. The feelings returned.

  • @KJenq We would love the Americans if only they stopped fighting these unjust wars. They have been fabricated to suits her gains.

  • @KJenq Ditto from this unabashed Anglophile. We owe much to our mother land. There are so many things we share--history, language, and for many Americans, kinship. May we always be friends and allies.

  • I'm Irish American but I love the British. Just not the way they abused the Irish by starving them to death and my ancestors had to flee to America

  • @magpie4321 And didn't they get a warm reception in America!

  • Comment removed

  • @magpie4321 Yeah, Scotch Irish...

  • Comment removed

  • I, my self, am American. Im proud to be American and born into my nation. But, the one other country I love besides my own, is England. I know some of you will say "ITS NOT BRITAIN ITS NORTHERN IRELAND, SCOTLAND, WHALES AND ENGLAND! ITS THE UK!"... but I say England because I love that specific country out of the rest of the UK. Yes, our affairs in the colonial era was harsh, but today, our great alliance flourishes, and hopefully forever.

  • @crossline7 That's true. I myself am 100% English and not British or from the UK. I hate the way it's referred to as that x

  • @crossline7 All together, each has made the others what they are today. One could not survive without the others, and I'm a Scot. None of us need independence

  • @MrCagivaman That may completly true to your self. That is your own opinion and I can agree with it as well. But other scots do not want to even share an island with them. Where my opinion stands is that I am currently fond of England more then the other nations on the isles, (I do love all of them though) EXCEPT for the Brits who make belive that they are still the empire of the world and talk down to everyone like there closest ally, America.

  • @crossline7 Cos we've had weak PM followed by weaker ones.We don't own the world anymore, bout time we stopped sending our boys and girls into battle with boots that melt.Let these other nations get on with it.....and you're not our closest ally, the sooner we all no that, the better.....No offence, pal.

  • @Dalp1974 I dont care the reason, its just your not the world leader and its good that you can admit it. And I could care less if your our closest allies or not, to be honest we need a stronger one, no offense..... but then who is your closest ally?

  • @crossline7 We.....the people who live in this country........US is the US......you've got a lot more probs than us,look at your country,as you say,no offence....hope you sort it.We're not shouting like idiots(You and I),like some people do.Hope your good.

  • @Dalp1974 Oh god do we have alot more problems. Its horrible, but then again, we can use our power that we have aquired to fix them, as soon as we get a better freeking president. and no, we are calm unlike most other youtube arguments.

  • @crossline7 Take care,mate

  • @Dalp1974 Same to you.

  • How foolish to propogate ideas of nationalism in a world so otherwise advanced. Your nations, empires, states are mere pillars of sand in world history. This is a memorial video to those who died because of petty infighting between nations and phony ideology. The sooner we can throw down the shackles that tie us to our cultures and nations, the sooner we can live as one, without the threat of war.

  • @Sbunce92

    here here!

  • @Sbunce92 How foolish to think that by emancipating individuals from society they may be more free than they are now! You are simply pointing one way and saying it's bad, while leading off into a direction that no-one knows the end of.

  • @rctsos I agree! isn't that typical of us! But to me My roots run deep! and we must not forget where we come From! Go mbeannai Dia duit

  • I am Canadian and very proud to state that our Motherland Is The UK! God save Great Britain Scotland and Ireland! God save the Queen!!

  • I was once proud to be british but now that I'm 70 I'm ashamed and embarrassed. We have become a nation of weak soft flabby limp wristed people, Our once great navy is useless , some factions of our emergency services are useless and cowardly. our polititions are on the make we give the workshy money and houses. Thank goodness for the army and the commandos. John.

  • @TheJacomoa

Yeah, thank goodness some young blokes are still prepared to get blown to bits for the sake of those 'Politicians on the make'.

  • @TheJacomoa every country in the world is like that you old cunt.

  • @Thisismytrollingface thats what you think some of us would still fight god and the Devil for our Queen and our nation and it matters not what race creed or colour!!!!

  • @burnley5960 I'm not saying that he's wrong for being a patriot, I'm angry with him for belittling our country when others are even worse.

  • @Thisismytrollingface that was massively unnecessary, what right do u have of judging him?

  • @TheJacomoa We are starting to see the same in America. Cheers to our friends in Britain, from America.

  • Comment removed

  • @of once greaTheJacomoa I feel the same way about the United States. Compare the U.S. of WW2 to today. It's disheartening to say the least. I still have to have faith though we can only take so much before something big has to happen and change it all. Heres hoping for the future of falling nations.

  • @AladricOfDarkhaven I know what you mean a few years ago I met Two American WW2 Vets and you knew they were real men whhen you shook their hands

  • @TheJacomoa Here, here. It's not just you John, a great deal of my generation feels the same. We need to get this country back to greatness and we should look to our true leaders, the men and women of Her Majesty's armed forces, for the inspiration required.

  • @alexshmalex Exactly

  • @TheJacomoa | speaking french will soon be mandatory for sections of the army and all of the special forces will soon have to allow in women and homosexuals because of europeans human rights laws.

  • @dljc1979 So? Makes sense to me. French is second only to English in its global useage. Just another tool in the repetoir for foreign action. And whats wrong with woman and homosexuals in the armed forces and spec ops? Do they magically have less potential than your average joe blogs? (And yes, Im a guy. I've known some who are utter pansies too =P )

Old and stupid misconceptions and stereotypes are better off gone. This is the 21st century, not the 19th.

  • @TechbotALPHA | okay.. i wrote that message to try and freak you out even more.. for the random fun of it, i couldn't care less about women and homosexuals in the armed forces (despite the fact that it IS a problem and they DO shit everything up) and speaking french with this new 50 yr deal with the french is just practical as far as i'm concerned, i lied when i said it was mandatory, i don't have a fucking clue about that.

  • @TheJacomoa you old prick, what is it you've done for this country that allows you to hold such arrogant views, just because your older than everyone on youtube doesn't make you right. Your 70 and can't speak English properly, example it's spelt politicians and work shy isn't one whole word hahaha. what use are the Army and Commandos. FUCK OFF AND DIE

  • have some respect that man has probley served in our armed forces and seen some of his best freinds die and he is right our country could be better so grow some balls go to afganistan and watch your freinds die thats if you survive and then lets see what you think!

  • @liampw20 The question is what have you done for this country and by the way what do you think YouTube is..... a spelling contest?

  • @justharryful why the fuck should i do anything, this isn't the 18th century mate there aren't any wars that need fighting or land to be taken, what exactly does this country need from me??? what have you done that is so great then. if your going to tell me you were in the army, big fucking deal, i could join tomorrow but there is no need for me to do so, nor anyone else for that matter.

  • @liampw20 youre right the country doesnt need you. little cretins like you just leech off the system. you could join tomorrow? bullshit pussies like you dont have the balls. you'd piss yourself and cry if you were put in the position of a soldier. without a military the UK's economy would collapse. and then your scumbag mother would have to go back to whoring on the streets, which incidentally is how you were conceived. tell her i said hi.

  • @mintyvision ok mate will do

  • @liampw20 cheers. tell her im sorry for stretching her out like that...and for all the blood. god it was a nightmare. im guessing the reconstructive surgery went well.

  • @liampw20 This country needs everything from you, and likewise you need everything from the country. The country, the Motherland is the sum of individuals that lies within it. Their habits, attitudes, everything. Work hard, give out to charity, improve the lives of everyone around you and extend it beyond your immediate family, thats serving the country. And likewise its the same for those extending their hands to help you and the people close to you. That's how a country functions.

  • @TheJacomoa i agree to most of that but "our once great navy is useless" is not true with britan and the uk being 1 small island the navy is our first defence against attackers

  • @TheJacomoa fuck you how dare you insult britan we've had many military victorys once again fuck you

  • @TheJacomoa You don't have to be your age to think that. Someone said to me the other day about our historic airshows and mentioned the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The way this country is going, that'll be our last line of defence soon! :( And then politicians and the left wonder why the likes of the BNP and EDL are on the rise. I am not racist, I just love my country. I am just ashamed to be British these days. We've lost all we once stood for.

  • @BigPete007 Time to follow what France has just done.

  • @TheJacomoa That's one of the best comments I've ever seen on Youtube. When I compare our ancestors who slaved and killed for survival to the leeches on society, those who we must house and feed though they give nothing back to society and are undoubtedly going to spawn more useless offspring in the years to come I am revolted at how quickly our cultures have changed. Our government encourage apathy, and I am almost scared to see how much worse our societies will become in the years to come.

  • @TheJacomoa i agree with you on everything other than being ashamed and embarrassed of being british. sure were not perfect but look at the rest of the world. we have a better system than virtually any other country and at a time when our army has worked so hard its unjustifiable to call us a nation weak soft flabby limp wristed people. our public services have been pushed to breaking point, you can not blame the people of the services who work so hard with what they have.

  • @TheJacomoa

It was your generation who presided over our long slide into mediocrity.

  • @TheJacomoa "Nisi Dominus custodierit civitatem,

    frustra vigilat qui custodit eam."

    Your nation once knew that.

  • @TheJacomoa see Rudyard Kipling's Recessional

  • @TheJacomoa it's not only happening in the UK but everywhere in the world. Still, as a foreigner, my father and I still view Great Britain as the best, anywhere. There is no other country and nation as "tops" as GB !!!

  • @TheJacomoa Im 15 and i compleatly agree, from being a country that once 'ruled the waves' to becoming a country that can't stand up for herself, thats why i aspire to become a politician so I can attemp to fix this broken country, i aspire to do things for Brittiania and the Queen and the people, intead of todays popiticians who just do things for their own wallets

  • @TheJacomoa I don't think you have anything to be ashamed of. Smaller Britain has stood down tyranny through the ages despite odds so against you it seemed foolish. How many catholic armadas and blitzes did you look in the face and say "Do your worst!" and come out ahead and free? The electronic computer, TV, the jet engine, even the toilet -- all British. If not for Elizabeth seeing off the armada, there never would have been a Bill of Rights that your wrote.

  • @TheJacomoa @TheJacomoa I don't think you have anything to be ashamed of. Smaller Britain has stood down tyranny through the ages despite odds so against you it seemed foolish. How many catholic armadas and blitzes did you look in the face and say "Do your worst!" and come out ahead and free? The electronic computer, TV, the jet engine, even the toilet -- all British. If not for Elizabeth seeing off the armada, there never would have been a Bill of Rights that your settlers wrote.

  • @TheJacomoa It's not as bad as all that you know. Our navy is comprised of modern vessels, each containing many times the firepower of their WW2 counterparts, and some factions of the emergency service where always useless and cowardly...Some things are different, some things improved, some worse. I'm 26, and I think our best days are still to come.

  • @TheJacomoa I hate to hear people slate the Royal Navy. I admit that we lack ships, but we are not 'useless'. The men and women who serve in her are top notch and the ships that we do have are very capable. We have both RN and Royal Marine personnel out serving in Afghanistan, proud to be fighting for their country. Please don't forget that throughout history Britain has called upon her navy time and time again to save the nation from the jaws of defeat, and she has never once failed to deliver.

  • @TheJacomoa Then instill in yourself a sense of immutable honor, let no one pry you away from it, and maybe, just maybe, you can bring your country back to what it needs to be. Reformation starts at home and the truth speaks itself as long as we are willing to live it and let it live thru us. It does not need rules to enforce its will, just the iron constitution of a righteous man's soul, and like fire it will spread on its own.

  • As beautiful a piece of music this is, it dangerously promotes this blind patriotism of sacrificing ones life for King and country. This is what led to countless un-necessary deaths in the Great War. Granted, on some occasions a sacrifice is necassary. But let us move away from a blind belief that ones country is better than the rest.

  • @truthoutmedia I disagree with your interpretation .... seems to me the message is there is something beyond one's country, and that is God and his heaven.

  • A really good version by a male voice choir. Good choice of images as well, just a shame they are not top quality.

  • Remember the dead. Particularly today, November 11th. RIP wherever they died.

  • Just beautiful

  • all good britons wany aussie , canada and new zealand back

  • I can't say i love imperialism. The alternatives may sound quite moral and righteous, but self-determination, multiculturalism, and cosmopolitanism have their own glaring problems too.

  • I'm Spanish, I love my country, my people, but people outside of a story created by people for people, if not absolute dynasties and kings that they directed. I love England, although not always according to actuarial values that today are considered appropriate, but I love its people, its cities and social work. I am Spanish, British and European.

Long life and prosperity to the peoples of Spain, England and Europe!

  • this is the great blessedncountry i fight for, the great blessed country my grandad died for along with many other great men. God rest thier souls

  • i get goosbumps with the sheer pride i feel for this beloved land when i see stuff like this,i only hope my childrens children will be able to celebrate there fore fathers and there history as were still able to do though im always awaire of those dangerous individuals who see it as shamefull to celebrate your past and teach you children were they came from and what we did.

  • It's hymns like this and Jerusalem that make me wish that I were born a few thousand miles east.

  • Ever since i was a little boy my heart has always burst with pride at the fact that i was born English!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @london1st Exactly I dont care what anyone says I agree 100%

  • will always remind me of the poor boys that walked to their deaths in the great war R.I.P

  • @superdan1875 - I agree. My grandfather a lieutenant in the artillery in WWI;(2 great uncles were veterans as well.) He was in Mons Belgium when the armistice was declared Nov 11, 1918. He never talked about it except to say that it was a terrible loss.

  • @superdan1875 Lest We Forget my friend.

  • gramule be negative about the country u live in ,thats why the countrys the countrys gone down the pan, people like u slagging it off,go and live in india

  • Is that Princess Diana's funeral at .55?

  • @Vydio That would be the Lying in State of the late Queen Mother. Diana, Princess of Wales lay in State in private at Kensington Palace.

  • As a schoolboy in my home of British Guiana as it was then, we sang this among others in school. Jerusalem the other!

  • England need to have their footballers singing a proper English National Anthem.

  • @gunninlinguist no we already have one of those, what needs to hppen is for them to sing!

  • What a wonderful song and video! Thank you for all you've done.

     From a grateful American.

  • This sends a shiver up my spine, what a song.

  • God save the Queen and long may she reign!

  • My country is SCOTLAND

  • @BillDFC what do you want .....a hat.. a clap..

slap on the back....ENGLAND the first colony of scotland.

a few of us know...wink wink..we'll wake the rest up,in time,

pray not in your time..scotland will one day pay for her crimes...

  • @catpainblackudder01 You've got that the wrong way round.
