Too much focus is put on global warming, and there really is a lot of human activity that can concretely be demonstrated to have a negative effect on the environment. If those things were addressed, like oil spills, pesticide run off, oil dependency, etc., it would help curb global warming if its true anyway. If its not true, it'll still address those possibly related problems.

Christy's satellites were showing less warming until they realized there was measurement error due to changes in the satellite orbit. Since then Christy has written a paper showing the rates of warming according to satellites is the same as the ground based measures. See Greenman3610's video were he is filmed saying this.
I can't really say anything for said "warming" but i can speak from my own experience that things are different than they were. for 20 years i have lived in the same valley and have noticed quite a change. My 1st winter here saw temperatures from; heavy frost begining of sep. to snow in late oct. then 3-4 months constant -20C then to a wet spring and hot summer reaching 40C+. last fall the leaves fell early in sept. wet/warm until frost in late oct. snow mid Nov. -Jan. then eratic freeze/thaw..

@BryanLim14 The ocean temperature is measured in 3 ways. There is a huge network of weather buoys - eg NOAA maintains over 1000. The USN has its own network (much larger and more extensive). 2nd ships monitor samples of sea water both the USN and RN do this as do several other major naval powers - these data go back over a century. Last satellites measure SST all over the globe..
So yes there is lots of measurements going back a long way

If modern industry was causing this warming, there would most certainly have been some kind of lag; & it would have accellerated as industrialism spread over the whole globe. That is NOT what happened. In fact a significant DECLINE began around WWII. It made slight correction beginning in the 70s & we're now seeing a return to decline.
@VictorLepanto I am not sure what you are refering to as being "utterly false" but to say there was no industrialization 150 years ago is utterly false - the industrial revolution started in the late 18th century in Great Britain. That was fueled by coal which is probably the worst GHG producer there is. It was powered by the invention of the steam engine (Watt 1780's) but by the early 19th century there were vast coal burning industries across Europe and N. America (iron, steel, railways).

@VictorLepanto Get a history book and crack it. I grew up in an 18th century pub - it was designed to be heated by coal & coke, not wood. The original building had a huge coal cellar and shute from the road above & that was in a small rural village. Same was true for my aunt's house in London which dated back to the early 19th Century. So one major industry was coal mining to supply domestic heating but also textiles, refining, & transport. . This was true across Europe & in the eastern US.

@VictorLepanto . The industrial expansion after WWII also resulted in a significant amount of pollution- which actually blocks energy input from the sun. This is a larger effect then the CO2 effect on a yearly basis. In the 1980's there was a serious push to remove the 'acid rain' effect and reduce pollution and this resulted in the CO2 effect regaining strength. In the 2000's, China's economic demand for coal pushed the pollution level up again, with a tapering off of global heating.

It is a prerequisite for Photosynthesis. Younger, faster-growing Plants consume more Co2 than do older, slower-growing ones. The more Co2, the more robust vegetation, the more robust habitats and ecosystems, the less dependence on water for growth.
Not the point. The comparison was that small amount of things can do AMAZING things. Just becouse CO2 makes so small part of the atmosphere doesn't mean changing it doesn't change anything, it still vibrates in so many ways in comparison to gases like oxygen.

Even this January, temperatures were once again above average, with a huge amount of glaciers melting in South America and the break up of the Mertz Glacier in Antarctica. For 15 yrs SOHO has been monitoring the sun with never before aquired precision. Never has a good correlation of datasets pointed to the sun as main driver of the current change. Meaning a realative steady output with few tos-and-fros.

Too much focus is put on global warming, and there really is a lot of human activity that can concretely be demonstrated to have a negative effect on the environment. If those things were addressed, like oil spills, pesticide run off, oil dependency, etc., it would help curb global warming if its true anyway. If its not true, it'll still address those possibly related problems.

Christy's satellites were showing less warming until they realized there was measurement error due to changes in the satellite orbit. I can't really say anything for said "warming" but i can speak from my own experience that things are different than they were. for 20 years i have lived in the same valley and have noticed quite a change. My 1st winter here saw temperatures from; heavy frost begining of sep. to snow in late oct. then 3-4 months constant -20C then to a wet spring and hot summer reaching 40C+. last fall the leaves fell early in sept. wet/warm until frost in late oct. snow mid Nov. -Jan. then eratic freeze/thaw..

Christy should know better. He knows the satellite data tell the same story as the surface measurements - he works with that data. In fact the satellite data sets are currently WARMER than the surface records! "Urban heat island" my ass!
He knows satellites measure temps at various altitudes and that weather balloons can also. He knows the warming at the surface with cooling high in the atmosphere is consistent with greenhouse gas warming. How can he honestly ignore all this when interviewed?

This is bunk. 101 _scientific_ organizations and academies around the world say that global warming exists, not one denies it. The temperature record shows warming; the extra nighttime warming and reduced infrared radiation into space show it's the greenhouse effect; and the carbon isotopes show that that effect comes from human-burned fossil fuels. Each of those scientific cases is now airtight, although there is still honest debate about the level - is it bad, horrible, or catastrophic?

@drkstrong first of all, nobody denies the world is warming up, at least since the 1980s to 2000 as it picks up from a period of decline between 1940-70. urban heat island effect or blackbody biasness are real if u've gone around cities or areas where the weather sheds are built & do maintenance checks. regarding the oceans, i'm curious to know, how do U know that the ocean sfc has warmed up? we dont have the appropriate amount of buoys out there to yield a good approx at all. this is nonsense!!

@BryanLim14 The ocean temperature is measured in 3 ways. There is a huge network of weather buoys - eg NOAA maintains over 1000. The USN has its own network (much larger and more extensive). 2nd ships monitor samples of sea water both the USN and RN do this as do several other major naval powers - these data go back over a century. Last satellites measure SST all over the globe..
So yes there is lots of measurements going back a long way

If modern industry was causing this warming, there would most certainly have been some kind of lag; & it would have accellerated as industrialism spread over the whole globe. That is NOT what happened. In fact a significant DECLINE began around WWII. It made slight correction beginning in the 70s & we're now seeing a return to decline.

That was fueled by coal which is probably the worst GHG producer there is. It was powered by the invention of the steam engine (Watt 1780's) but by the early 19th century there were vast coal burning industries across Europe and N. America (iron, steel, railways).

The original building had a huge coal cellar and shute from the road above & that was in a small rural village. Same was true for my aunt's house in London which dated back to the early 19th Century. So one major industry was coal mining to supply domestic heating but also textiles, refining, & transport. . This was true across Europe & in the eastern US.

@VictorLepanto Nature does NOT create more of CO2 then we do.The fluctuations in the CO2 levels on a season to season basis are large, cyclical and are created by Nature, and are larger then a single years increase, but the overall yearly increase, is created by man. And that increase is steady, and at the current rate (which is increasing) the cyclic maximum CO2 this year, will be the minimum in 4 years.
GW gases don't correspond to weather changes, they correspond to Climate Change.

@VictorLepanto . The industrial expansion after WWII also resulted in a significant amount of pollution- which actually blocks energy input from the sun. This is a larger effect then the CO2 effect on a yearly basis. In the 1980's there was a serious push to remove the 'acid rain' effect and reduce pollution and this resulted in the CO2 effect regaining strength. In the 2000's, China's economic demand for coal pushed the pollution level up again, with a tapering off of global heating.

In case you did not notice, Plants actually consume Co2.
It is a prerequisite for Photosynthesis. Younger, faster-growing Plants consume more Co2 than do older, slower-growing ones. The more Co2, the more robust vegetation, the more robust habitats and ecosystems, the less dependence on water for growth.
Oh, and by the way... you are breathing out Co2.

It is very very wrong for a media outlet to describe to describe global warming as a "debate".Our planet is getting hotter. the level of CO2 in the atmosphere is escalating astonishing pace and the polar ice caps are melting. The British MET office models show that this change is almost entirely due to human factors.

No need yo use that kind of register. In reality the last decade was the warmest in recorded history. Even this January, temperatures were once again above average, with a huge amount of glaciers melting in South America and the break up of the Mertz Glacier in Antarctica. The evidence in support of man made global warming is overwhelming. I don't know what your aim is, maybe you want the Earth to have a high CO2 climate comparable to planet Venus.

A good one to start with is Rosenzweig et al. 2008, Attributing physical and biological impacts to anthropogenic climate change. Nature 453 (available on Google Scholar).

This guy being interviewed is well educated and was involved with IPCC. I think his view should be taken into account......Anyone who denied the Sun causes temperature variations, and that the building of cities and farms have changed LOCAL climates which were then used to calculate the entire earths temp, are fooling themselves. Even if we did create this problem, we can only postpone the inevitable for a couple years anyways....silly way for scientists to get money and politicians to ge power.

For 15 yrs SOHO has been monitoring the sun with never before aquired precision. Never has a good correlation of datasets pointed to the sun as main driver of the current change. Meaning a realative steady output with few tos-and-fros.
