any pangeous, irie or paroon, grows relative to the amount of foot given. oddly enough, some paroon are much more active than others. i have seen the more active ones grow to about 6-9 inches from a hatchling in roughly a year. iridescent sharks grow a little slower and much much smaller - usually to about the size and shape of a football in captivity, in my experience.

@ sparrow6190 and stoprot NEVER chose a tank size for a fish using ANY of those stupid formulas. When chosing an appropriately sized tank you need to think about whether your filtration is sufficient for the fish at their adult size, and whether the floor space of the tank allows them to easily turn around @ the adult size and has a sufficient length for them to swim back and forth.

Nice tank, terribble music, lol. I don't think it is overstocked, the fish can easily turn around and seem to have plenty of space lengthwise to swim in. As long as there is sufficient filtration to cope with the large amount of ammonia.

You really can't compare a person being able to turn around to a fish being able to turn around due (obviously) to the difference in the type of movement. When a fish swims it is horizontal to the ground whereas we are vertical to the ground when we walk. So the human equivalent to the minimum size I'd recommend for a fish tank, would be about 18'x6'x6'.

a question for all people in my tank i have 1 apollo shark, 1 rocket gar, 1 sparkling cichlid, 1 tiger datnoid, 1 lima shovelnose, 1 ornate bichir, 1 polypterus palmas, 3 asian sun catfish, 2 stonefish, 2 synodontis petricola, 1 asian red tail catfish, 1 albino bristlenose, here is the question i bought a spotted gar and the next day all that was left of it was its head which fish could of done that???? all these fish are between 5 - 7 inches long please tell me what you think
