The 6MT tranny might have made the Gen Coupe quicker (maybe not) but 1 full second is A LOT. Then you got to consider the Civic was riding on really shitty tires.

This is stupid. Gencoupe=RWD, Si=FWD? Si's great, just dun go around saying "here's my SPORTS car" cuz it isn't. Check gencoupe forums and find with intake, exhaust, and ecu upgrade, you get good over 250 Whp. Not Si. FailWD are limited in hp, as front wheels can't take too much power.

Genesis are slow because it already have turbo plus the 23 MPG combined that sucks. put a stock turbo in a civic.. The civic will kill the Genesis. There nice though

Stock tires on the Civic Si are indeed, HORRIBLE; kinda kills the test for me.

Dunlop DZ101's for a great compromise, or Dunlop Star Spec's for great handling and track tires, but the stock Michelin all-seasons BLOW.

I got a 09 white SI and theres sometihng about driving hondas.  They just feel right. Easy to take for granted. I'm in love with my car and thank god Honda is leaving the racing market in the future to Hyundai and toyota and subby with their rwd cars.

Honda leaving Formula 1 is a good thing????? That's where they do alot of their research and development. That is one of the main reasons why they got into F1 in the first place. If it wasn't for F1...then God knows where they would be. Perhaps that Si would feel like a Cobalt where they just feel wrong.

Tires make a HUGE difference in all performance ratings (acceleration, handling, braking).

Then, even worse, an AUTOMATIC Genesis?

An automatic changes the entire handling behavior of an underpowered RWD car like the Genesis. What tires did the Genesis have?

Not to mention, does the Genesis have an LSD? Because the Civic's helical LSD makes it the best handling FWD car on the market (when it has the $200 summer tire option).

over at Hyundaithinktank they are talking about soon realeasing the genesis coupe R-spec probably as a 2011 model, it will be lighter than the 2.0 track too. and only as a 6spd manual.

I currently own a genesis 2.0T and prior to this i had,guess what ? a Civic Si and my last 2 cars were civics too.

Genesis drives way better. I hope the tester disabled the ESC and traction control otherwise it cuts power as soon as you start sliding.

I would have enjoyed a litlle bit more power , but then again you never have enough no matter how much you have

Why didn't they use the 2.0T track version (i.e. with the manual tranny) of the genesis? Would have been a better comparison since the Civic Si is the higher end (sportier) civic model. The comparison in this vid doesn't make much sense, who would would buy a 'track toy' and think the auto is the way to go....

Yeah but there are other things that matter. Honda is known for its unquestionable reliability, it gets better MPG, and they have higher resale values than the Hyundai. So if you buy it then 2 years down the road decide I want to go for something else you'd get more back with the Si. So they both have their pros and cons. For pure fun though, Genesis easily.

Might want to double check a couple of things here...The Genesis is rated slightly higher for mpg than the Si according to government testing. The difference is close enough to say they get the same mileage, though. The Gen Coupe is a brand new model, and there is not enough data for resale value, yet. Reliability is another thing that has not enough data, either.

Genesis coupe sucks considering all the dam hype. And the current Civic Si has been out for awhile now.. I would rather have a GTI, WRX, or MS3 for the price for a track model 4 cylinder. And I would DEFINITELY prefer a 2008 Evo X GSR or 370z instead of the crappy 6 cylinder HYUNDAI IMITATION G37 wannabe Korean knockoff. Korean = imitation of the Japanese.

Read the review morons. The reviewers who maded this video already estimated that the Gen coupe with the Manual Shifter(not the automatic in this video) would cross the line somewhere between 1.5 to 2.0 seconds faster than the Civic. That equates to a lead of well over 200 feet ahead of the Civic on the track when finishing.... Well that says it all.
