TAX RELIEF??? Americans have enough "tax relief" already! We're one of the LEAST-taxed nations in the world, for christ sake. In most jurisdictions, unless you make a high income, your taxes are pretty fucking low. State income tax is usually not even 10%. Federal is only 35% for the top bracket! And so on. I don't buy Sean Hannity's crap about paying "60% income tax in New York" one bit.

The diff. between us and Europe and Canada is that we don't get our money's worth...

All we get are very meager welfare-state programs, not a whole lot spent on R&D (comparatively speaking), highly inefficient bureaucracy, lousy schools and military spending out the wazoo. :/

The most amazing thing is when people bitch about "property taxes being too high." WHAT?? The tax rate itself (percentage-wise, I mean) is actually pretty low, and you probably don't pay more than 1 or 2 grand YEARLY on your property taxes anyhow! Unless you live in a really poor area, property tax can't possibly be such a big fuckin deal. People need to learn how to put shit in perspective, instead of whining about taxes so much. WHEN will "lower taxes" be enough, GOP? When it's 0%?

I long for the day when we finally cut taxes ENOUGH for conservatives and Republicans in this country to where they can quit BITCHING about it and focus on much more important matters. Taxes are the price you pay to live in an area with good schools (or at least good attempts at schooling), decent infrastructure, law enforcement, etc. We're hardly 'overtaxed' in this country. The European welfare states have much more reason to bitch about that, but they DON'T, interestingly.

@whoo689 ha, I think he confused the luxury tax for his yacht upgrades... his income tax is so loopholed into nonexistence he probably thinks that what he puts into social security (which admittedly for him is more than most people's annual income, gag me!)--the only thing we can't get out of paying--is punitive. I LONG FOR his financial woes--social security payments being double the average US income (&he'll get it plus interest for retirement,$900/month being typical SS income for 35yrs@45k).
