I AM familiar with these projects first hand. They are indeed crime ridden. It's fucked up that these people have nowhere else to go. But those projects were unlivable and they were on schedule to be closed before Katrina. Before the storm most people were glad that they were going to be closed down. When government subsidies start coming into play, private industry starts to see the people as "subjects".
