  • I don't really know if I have shin spleen or not. About a year ago my leg shin got toe poked by a friend leaning all his weight behind it during a game of football. A lump grew out of my shin about the size of a golf ball. Ever since then I've had some trouble with it. At times my shin seems to feel itchy and painful even though there is nothing there. Normally when I've on my feet all day or lifting too much at work. It feels like a stress point on my left shin. The bone under the skin.

  • @SuperVideo50 It sounds to me like some form of stress fracture, which often is a components as well trigger for compartment syndrome/ shin splints. Of course all self techniques I am proposing can help to manage as well as to prevent escalation of this syndrome. but first of all I would recommend to see a doctor.

Wishing you ,Fast recovery and very happy 2012.

  • This scares me now my coach seas i have it =[

  • IDK if i have this I have been boxing for a year almost and i have some pain in my ankles. They crack sometimes along with the shins but the shines dont have any pain though what could this mean.

  • Hey Boris,

Thanks for posting this video. Do you have any techniques for shin splints that is medially posterior to the tibia? (tibialis posterior i think, and its right into the groove of the tibia). Also do you have anything that helps with varicose veins?

    Thank you Boris!

  • @Solidstryker on my DVD#6 I'm proposing a hands-on techniques that could be helpful in cases like you have described. In regards of varicose veins, I believe that massage shouldn't be performed directly on affected areas.

    Best wishes.

    Thanks Boris

  • i got really bad shin splits on the inside of my leg but i have a skateboarding competition in 20 minutes is it possible to skate still? im going to anyways but what will happen...?

  • PLEASE READ I like your video has alot of knowledge but I think I'll just keep running. I think I have shin splints but im not sure. It hurts like a nasty bruise on the inside of my right leg. On the lower half right where the shin changed into muscle. It doesn't seemed inflammed and only hurts when pressed against and after running. I run all year long. Even winter and summer. Any suggestions?

  • @Dezzerack my suggestion is to be careful, to slow down with running ,to consultant experts. As you described symptoms it is possible to aggravate condition to stress fractures, compartment syndrome est.if to address it you can stay healthy as well will continue to run all your life.

    Best wishes.

    Boris

  • @Dezzerack if that developed into anterio compartment syndrome it is a very bad thing so i agree with boris

  • I'm going on 2 months, still bother me. Xray shows only inflammation. Any suggestions appreciated.

  • @andersoncity first of all I believe you should reduce and significant physical activities and talk to your doctor. If inflammation was picked up by x-ray( which is unusual case) you should be extra careful to avoid elevation to compartment syndrome.hands on techniques that I am teaching on my DVD #6 can be tremendous help.

Best wishes and get well fast.

  • (continued) a regular skater i had to kick with the injured foot. i yelled for about ten minutes straight. after the pain went away i went back inside and let it rest. it has been aching since than, that was about 3 weeks ago. is it a serious injury? please respond, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • @TheDraindeimo as you described mechanics of your injury, and symptoms, many negative outcomes possible including but not limited to bone fracture, ligament tears est. I would recommend to see a doctor for examination( the best is MRI).

Best wishes and get well fast.

  • @mgaft1 Another thing i just noticed is that the pain disappears when i walk around for a few minutes, when i rest the foot and re-apply pressure by walking the pain comes back, any indications there?

  • i had a skating accident and landed with my foot facing towards me. i gave it a few minutes because it had happened multiple times before. After about an hour i tried to stand but i fell. I had to get a ride home because i could not even press the gas pedal. in a few days it felt better, i was walking but i had a tid bit of pain. Needless to say i got back on my board and got back to skating, idk if you know how a kickflip works, but you simply kick the board, since i ride opposite than

  • I bought your DVD and tried the massages for shin splints. I massaged for a week and practiced those rehabilitating exercise. I also rested during that period. I have to say that it helped to get rid of shin splint when I got back to running. Thanks.

  • @bigfatfoot my goodness. I was so happy to receive your comment. If you constantly involved in running I highly would recommend at least twice a week to perform the same protocol that will help to manage side effects of exercise stress and will prevent future injuries.

I mean will break wishes cycles of muscular tension accumulations est.

    Best wishes.

  • Thanks a lot mate, I have shin splints at the moment and this has really helped me get some information on it. Don't listen to these haters. Onya

  • @specials29 in your case I feel like my mission accomplished.I pray and hope that all will be good with your health.

  • @ralfmalf420 you are extremely rude and lyre because of in case of compartment syndrome to ice it, will be too late and if you would developed compartment syndrome you wouldn't talk this way but would tell to peopleto be careful with shin splints.I just telling the true to the people about extreme importance to prevent escalation to compartment syndrome and stress fractures.your terrible language is between you and creator .

  • @ralfmalf420 *facepalm* You dont just 'ice' a sprain, you could have developed Compartment syndrome, dont set people on the dangerous paths YOU carve

  • @ralfmalf420 take a chill pill fucktard, just because he has an extended knowledge on something you seem to need help on does not mean you have to let the PMS effect you.

  • @ralfmalf420 wow you are a real idiot. It seems you need treatment for something else as well. Put ice in your empty head.

  • @okdark thank God not a lot of site visitorsposting so disrespectful comments like yours.I decided to reply because on one thing I agree with you with you :"it is scary picture".compartment syndrome incidences are increased lately at my presentation is kind of: please be aware".I didn't try to scare no one but proposed awareness on the subject. BTW.if you will be not afraid and will develop compartment syndrome damage will be the same as if you would be scared.to be aware can prevent.

  • @mgaft1

Saying Muscles will die and other things to make us buy your dvd

    you basicly selling health

  • @okdark “selling health” it sounds good LOL. But to be serious, provided information with in this clip is absolute true including that if not to release surgically pressure inside of compartment, muscles will die and other irreversible damages. I know this is frightening but this is true. If to address shin splints symptoms on early stages aggravation like stress fracture and escalation to compartment syndrome could be prevented. Techniques proposed on DVD can be helpful.

    Best wishes.

  • ive has issues with this since i was 17, im 30 now and cant walk any distence or run for that matter. below the knee near the ankle or just above it is where it really hurts, feels stiff and unresponsive i walk weird when this happens.

  • sometimes its nots shin splints if you run to hard on your feet and stomp your step that could also be the case

  • during senior year in hell weak of football i started getting SERIOUS pain on the outside of my leg. this hasn't gone away since football four years ago. it's gotten so bad that now walking for an extended period of time, it starting killing me. is this shin splints?

  • I've had shin splints for three weeks and i cant skip track practice. Im icing ALOT and the splints just keep hurting more and more as the week goes on. They feel better after a bit of rest but im trying to train out of them. Suggestions?

  • I am suffering with left leg ankle ligment froblem for the last 2 years. Please give me solution or self treatment

  • Ive been struggling for two years with splints. Yes two years! Nothing seems to help me. Im going insane. Ive had physio massage/deep tissue massage/ acupuncture ive got orthotics ive had a fasiaotomy incase it was compartment syndrome and that has added to my problems. Every running shoe I buy is approved by several proffesionals. Im doing a hell of a lot of stretching and im taking ice baths now after every session of exercise. I cant go a track anymore because the pain returns immidiately :(

  • @immigrationplague yeah , its like wtf ? I used to be able to ice skate for hours and run for hours but now i can only run hard for about 10 min. before the splints start to attack . . . .it sucks . . . feels like im a step closer to being paralyzed. LIfe without being able to run sucks .

  • @SabrinaOnDeck I'm glad to see there are nice people on Youtube

  • If it is preconditioned to Compartment syndrome, what can I expect to happen? Will I need surgery or is there a way to stop it before it actually develops to Compartment syndrome. Will I need continuous massage therapy? My college program is $16,000 I can't afford to stop now, it would all be wasted. If not and its treatable with massage, Then how long until I can start running again?

  • Dear MellowMommie .

It is wrong to come to some conclusions. again what is obvious from your descriptions is that you must see a doctor and stop running until she/he will not diagnose you. when diagnose will be established then maybe I will be able to advise. very possible that this is just severe strain which is curable and fast. just go to a doctor and meantime do not run. wish you get well soon . Boris

  • Ok will do. Thanks :) I will let you know how it goes.

  • My legs were on fire and it felt like all my bones from my knees down were shattared.. I had to walk through this pain home. The pain lasted for about an hour but eased up when I iced them and massaged them. Its been about 5 days and my legs still hurt. I don't know what to do. I can't afford to get professional massage therapy. I need to keep running, I am in Police college and its necessary for my job. I need to know how I can self teat this.

  • Dear MellowMommie.

your descriptions indicating that you have to see a Dr. And sooner is better. it could be a stress fracture or precondition to compartment syndrome. 1st thing and immediately you must stop running until you will not see a doctor. I wish you get well soon.

    Boris.

  • make a hot ass bath and just stand in it the pain should go away right away

  • I ran a 15km and felt amazing, but was in agonizing pain the next morning with shin splints, knee pain and toe and arch pain. I realized that I have a moderate foot pronation and wasn't getting the proper support. I rested up, bought new shoes with proper arch support and when my pain was gone went for a run again. I was only able to run for about 10 minutes until I was in agonizing pain that it made me cry. I had never felt pain like this before.

  • I run about 6 days a week. And just recently developed shin splints. At first I had minor pain and didn't know what it was so I just pushed through it. It eventually got worse and would hurt when just walking. I stayed off it for a week and stretched, and did self deep tissue massage. After about a week of rest I felt amazing so I started running again. I did a short run so I could ease myself back in, then the next day I ran further and had no problems, then the next day ...

  • when I was in basic training, our instructor had us do running every other day and upper body on days we weren't running. you need to let the muscles recover everyother day to build otherwise your muscles may be destined for injury

  • my gym teacher told me that i have a shin splint but the pains in my knee all the way down to my foot,is that a shin splint or something else

  • Dear icecold04044. possible that you have developed numerous abnormalities, that will produce symptoms of knee region disorder, lower back disorders including myofacial tissue dysfunction as well shin splint phenomena. sometime you can start with shin splint and neighboring muscles not belonging to region can start to accumulate tension and will produce pain. doctors using differential diagnostic techniques in order to establishe diagnosis ..you should see Dr. Best wishes.

    Boris

  • i had shin splints and i ran track all i did was stretch and wore a brace and i was up and running in a couple of weeks

  • Dear groveside6465,

I'm glad you have came out from shin splints with no severe complications. Having said that let me say that there are different degrees of shin splints development that progressing with time. Experience shows that direct stimulation of tissue is the only way to restore normal resting muscular tone, to release fascia tension which will normalize local metabolisms. Otherwise you are at risk of developing compartment syndrome, stress fracture, etc.

    Best,

    Boris

  • just stretch, look up those videos. someone will show you on youtube.

  • i dont speak doctor

  • Okay, this video scares me :[ Can I still run lightly while having them? I read somewhere that a heel-to-toe movement of running will prevent too much additional stress to it, so will that be okay?

  • Dear Boris,

Hod do i know if i have a shin splint. I 15 and do long distance running 3 times a week. Sometimes the area around my shins hurt for about a week but its not the calf muscle but like the muscels on the other side of y shin. Is this a shin splint

  • Dear thelastsonofsparda.

As you describing symptoms would be good idea to see Dr. and especially because of age. you are still growing and sometime bones growing faster than muscles development. My self DVD#5 materials can make big difference in cases like you described and most important can prevent stress fractures. Best wishes.

    Boris

  • yes

  • fear mongering twat.

im a physio and most shinsplints are muscles sticking to the bone.

just get a physio to help.

  • I do martial arts and one of the core requirements are conditioning of shins.

Does kicking hardened surfaces (eg sand bags) constantly make the shin bones grow thicker and stronger? Or is this a myth?

  • woara shnubner snuckers"on

    shnu"ck vi"N schvedered :) _)

  • what shall i do to my ankle sprain? can i take a medicine

  • Im an mma fighter , and when i strike a bag with my shin (outside of my shin) i get a shooting pain down my lower leg , last s for only a couple of seconds ,

  • well you can change your shoe sole. Btw do you run alot ?

  • Will ankle sprain affect my sports performance in the future after my ankle is recovered? I still can walk with a slight pain when i sprained my ankle.

  • Dear kaederukawa187,

I am very sorry to hear about your injury. But even more so I worry about possible significant re-injuries. I apologize that I am answering with a question, but in order to provide a comprehensive answer it's necessary to ask you what is your warm up routing before a game. I can assure you that this question is directly related to answering your question the next time.

    Best Wishes,

    Boris

  • Seriously i did not do any warmup before the game.

  • Dear kaederukaawa187.

Maybe your ankle injury is a result of lack of warm-up.Now at post trauma period you must to warm-up appropriately. Please careful view my clips on necessity for full rehabilitation and appropriate warm-up. please be aware that usually reinjuries causing much more severe damages than initial trauma.Highly recommend careful to study material from my clips. It will help to reduce chances of future injuries as well manage existent as well to perform better. yours

    Boris

  • Dear mamatalu.

Many people developing shin splints but ignoring the symptoms. Some people paying a very difficult price because they do not addressing this condition. The idea of this clip is to awake awareness regarding potential development of shin splints to something very scary and dangerous as well to offer a solution. really sorry that you find all as a" negative tone" I hope that my explanation will change your mind. Best wishes.
