I know you said you would use a saw or axe instead, but this knife is goo all round, but this just shows that, an axe saw knife combination works the best, though I ma not sure I would have this knife just because it is good if I loose my axe.
best not to cook in any kind of aluminium pot, it releases harmful chemicals wen heated or if used for something acidic like tomatoes. better to go with stainless steel.
the wire saw is senseless with an big knife like this. you better chop through that wood. change the little knife against a victorinox. look for the 1-layer pioneer series. they are easy to sharpen an do not rust. i think thats better for a small back up knife
Hello, I'm AD the designer of the FKMD Parang Jungle, besides the Fox Parang XL. Would like to congrats Andrew of AZBushcraft, great explicative video, I also appreciate both your positive and negative comments about the knife. As a personal opinion, the handle's confort and safety on chopping activities could be improved just using a simple lanyard or, better, a paracord D-guard as I have done for my Parang. Cheers, Alfredo Doricchi
@dinozzocsi Hello i realy like your knife and i like the handle to beacuse it is military style and not bulcky! but the d quard would help on chopping. where can i get one for the parang? Nice job man realy good design!
for $200 I could buy 5,6 or even 7, 12 inch ghurka kukri machetes and still have enough cash left over to build kits for every one of them. I do like the fox parang but I dont $200 like it.
It may be sold as a paranf but no... That doesn't even come close to being a parang. It's too short, the blade is too thick and the ergos of the handle is just wrong.
@chipdog38 you are potentially correct. I have thought of this before and even tried it, the problem that I had with it is that if you make the notches on the back of your arrow to fit the wire saw, the teeth of the saw have a tendency to grab the arrow slowing the release and therefore slowing the arrow (less kill power), but if you make it any bigger so that it wont get caught on the teeth of the wire it severely effects your accuracy. I just couldn't justify using in such a way.
@MrCableguyken They are about $200 in the states, or £130 in the UK. You can get them directly from Fox, but in my oppinion I wouldn't trust my life to anything that comes out of Italy. And I have no Idea why they chose the fly out of your hand handle, when their XL Parang had a perfectly good handle.
@TheBackyardBushman Not a big fan of the Outcast because of the D2 and skeletonized handle. It's hard to sharpen in the field and the handle makes it weak.
I prefer my cold steel bowie machete or a kukri, why go small when you depend on it for making your shelter, ect, they're not heavy when you can see what they can do.
Yeah, but I am not planing on going to Siberia or Amazonia any time soon, so I think a good dinner in the restaurant would be better than carrying this bulky extra weight with me all the time.

Please chop a death log next time you want to do a knife review or look just for a tree branch to cut instead.

the saw could also be a bow and just make a arrow

@cujomojo2007 For that kind of money I can get two good knives, and put my own kits on them....thats way overpriced for a knife of that quality.
MrCableguyken 1 year ago
@MrCableguyken Kershaw Outcast = $60. Build your own kit and save a tonne of money whilst having superior gear.
