  • Good rhythms, and you play well with the piano. Watch the tuning; some notes stuck out. There were a few cracked notes; make sure your face is set for the first note, you picked your horn up and tried to play right away and the start was messy. Your dynamic contrasts were good, but don't get too carried away with the loud; your sound was getting edgy and harsh at some points. You have a good sound and a very musical style, good job on your performance

  • oh wow this is amazing :)

  • Holy moly, this isi awesome!

  • the playing was great and i love your earings!!!

  • i played the same thing, only im in 7th grade, im 12, buti am gifted, even for the OCMS band program (11!! in the country) :DDDD

very nice, lovely playing, very nice indeed!

  • very nice and accurate playing. Deserves a better sound engineer to capture the beautiful horn sound, played so well, also the pianist is excellent.

  • This note from Chloe's dad. I posted this video for her but didn't keep up with it. She asked me to thank you all for the kind and helpful comments. Chloe is now 17 and is currently principal horn at a major western university. Her horn is a Holton with removable bell. She was inspired by a family friend at the age of 8 to play horn and had the same private instructor for nine years. I will try to tape a performance and post it for her this Spring.

  • AHHH your tone is gorgeous. you're a great player, but I see one problem. Easily fixable. You sometimes don't seem quite ready when you begin a phrase especially the beginning. It may have just been a brain fart during the performance. But I always start my inhale 2 beats before I come in and set my embouchure during the last fraction of the 2nd beat.

  • beautiful. very solid tempo and very accurate with those triads. And, most of the missed pitches from the expo, you got perfectly in the Recapitulation. Careful, the worst thing a hornist can hear is that they sound trumpety. One more thing--i think that Mozart inteded the trills to be lip trills. for example. G-A is 1and 3 and you trill between the notes. Oh! sorry one more thing. What Kind of horn is that? Holton?

  • very musical playing - I like your cadenza. A very warm tone, but you need more clarity on the start of the notes when you go down below the middle of the stave.

  • tu joues bien bravo =)

  • i love it

  • Good work!

  • Nice job. Your tone is really great.

  • im doing this piece for my grade 6 exam have u got any tips

  • You have a excellent basis for future horn playing. Just a few tips from a solo hornist of 27 years: Remember to keep the playing yours, that is, don't over estimate the value of expectations and enjoy your own playing as much as possible, not just now, but forever. Keep your sternum and backbone pliable. All the best!

  • Very impressive. Your intonation and tone are perfect. No major mistakes and for horn that alone is incredible. Only thing I didn't like was the valve trills. Just start to practice lip trills in your warm up each day. For the first few months they will seem impossible. After that it gets to be fun.

  • ad lib part. its called a candenza

  • Don't listen to these guys who are telling you stuff about your playing. You did a great job and from this performance all you need to worry about is what your horn teacher is telling you. Not these people who only have heard you play once. I thought you did an amazing job for how old you are. Keep it up and listen to the people who know your playing the best and can give you correct information.

  • All i gotta say great plaing for a 14 year old

  • i love your ad lib. part. it was awesome.

i just wanted to say that the sound sounded kinda blatted when you played loud, maybe it's my speakers, they are kinda old, but just saying, you were, just watch that. otherwise, thanks for the awesome performance!!! ^-^

  • tell your parents nice job, and your playing is awesome too :-P

  • more study

  • your are such an inspiration. this is my 2nd year playing horn. Beautiful!

  • Great sound!! Keep up the great work! You probably already heard this or you probably figured it out, but the beginning, you didnt give yourself enough time to set the embouchure and take a good breath. I always bring my horn up a good 2 bars before I have to play a phrase. Also, from my studies, I have found that starting to take a breath 2 and half beats before your entrance is the best way to take a breath. Try it sometime! Again, great job!

  • that sounded really good! I' been plying for 2 years and I'm going to play that exact same piece for a solo ensemble this year so its good to hear it from a good high school student.

  • Due my band director would kill me if I ever held the horn that way...

  • why?? its better than most resting it on the knee which is wrong!! totally! she could of been standing but hey she done a great job!! how do you hold your horn??

  • I actually agree with you, if you rest it on your knee your closing your lungs which is what you need most of all when playing the horn, it's a fairly quiet instrument compared to trombone and trumpet and needs alot of power behind it.

  • Actually, I'm a horn player.

Holding it off your leg or keeping it on your leg is correct. Either way is good, but you may get more sound out of a horn off the leg. But nice playing by the way, I'm learning this concerto now and it's really difficult.

  • why?..

  • the angle the horn is held is not optimal....

but nice playing apart of that

  • wow that was truly amazing. I played that same piece last time for NYSSMA. I was rated 97 out of 100. You could out score me with playing like that. Keep it up!

  • At the time of this performance - 14 years old.

    Thanks for the comments.

  • how old are you? really good!

  • You have a good understanding of the piece, and your technique is good as well. Make sure with the Mozart concertos you think phrasing, especially in this one. This is what makes this piece, holding those 8 bar phrases making it sound all like one measure. That is what David Jolley told me. Excellent teacher by the way. But, very nice! Keep it up! :)

  • You know David Jolley? That's cool. I took a master class with him once. About all I remember is from Villanelle on the 8th note runs he told me "Scoopa da Mayonnaise!" Great player though and fun guy. He stuck around and played duets with some of us afterwards.
