  • someone forgot the epo and transfused blook, I think

  • 1:49 what happened to his helmet?

  • If detractors could feel the pain he experienced in the last climb, they would immediately go down the bike and start to cry.

And yes, I agree. Sometimes a video can´t show the steepness of a road. I have done that and when I see the video it doesn´t look as hard as when you saw the climb and suffered trying to go up.

  • @CycleGranCanaria "english cunt" really isnt offensive haha. Greasy fucker.

  • NO HELMET, CALL THE UK COPS!

  • most annoying voice in history!!!!!!!

  • Im sure he doesnt need his comments to keep going....

  • Comment removed

  • @CycleGranCanaria Good to know we have an expert in the house.....Lmao.. I'm pretty sure Lance Armstrong of all people would know what grade the hill is if he rides on it that much, your comment is ridiculous.

  • Comment removed

  • @CycleGranCanaria I sound like a fool? You are the one who is trying to make a "technical observation" of a video. The fact that a camera can't capture the actual incline of a hill may make it look like what you may think it is, so I think you should just believe what he is saying. He's also holding the camera on an angle for most parts of the video.

  • @CycleGranCanaria what pro team do you ride with smartarse???... i love people who cant prove anything on a bike and so they insist of running their mouths with a keyboard! LOL

  • Comment removed

  • @CycleGranCanaria Oh please...

  • go Lance

  • i wish the guy with the camera would just let lance do his thing.. his comments are so annoying

  • the dude on the bike needs to shut up, i think lance knows wat hes doin

  • @chuckle500 i know haha...when im running at a hard pace, i hate when people try to talk to me, screws up ur breathing pattern. same in biking

  • you guys should check out the Xterra rides that are off road and incredible far more fun to be in and watch than on the road and way harder with hills that have a 20 degree pitch over roots, rocks, ledges, natural steps. mountain biking rules.

  • He should probably wear a helmet...

  • Cyclists make most other athletes look like wimps.

  • i wish i had such a strong trainer

  • I did a century ride that finished with a 22% grade. THAT was only 3/4 of a mile long. I cant imagine doing 100 miles then finishing with this climb in Kona... amazing.

  • I've done a few 9% slopes but 17 wtf lol

  • For all of us out here that have ridden a 17% slope know just how Vertical it feels, but to ride it at THAT CADENCE, and after 4 and a half hours....Ultimate RESPECT. And to all those out here who want to believe all the circumstancial slander about doping....just sit across from an Oncologist and hear YOU have cancer and see if YOU wouldn't give anything for 1 more chance to be all that you could be. This guy is an inspiration and all his motivation is in his 1st book! Enjoy. =)

  • Incredible. I can only dream of being able to climb like that!

  • cycling is a fantastic sport, but you suffer a lot if you do it right, training, competing, the right nutrition, resting and recuperation after hard workouts, requires great dedication to the sport of cycling, but in the end you feel great.

  • @talibe801 suffering like hell....but in the end you feel great! ;-)

  • That's some hard core shit. I google-mapped this just now... there's a .4 mile stretch at the top that calcs out at 19%. When Lance stands up at the end his cadence is ~60... riding 39/28 puts him at about 6.6 mph. A guy's gotta have some kinda serious mean-ass shit going on to do that after 5 hours in the saddle.

  • Go Lance go I am your fan in India.

You are the best in the world.

Errors and emissions excused in English.

  • now throw in thousands of screaming, fanatical spectators...just to get him used to racing again.

  • Wow that guy is really annoying. I suppose for someone like Lance having a douche bug you constantly would be good for racing because you can practice with extreme distractions, but that guy would kill my concentration on that hill.

  • @echtogammut I'm with you 100%.. however... Concentration? Please. These carbon riding crackheads -- they just don't give half a rat's ass about the kinda pain that would sideline us mortals on a pert'near permanent basis.

  • @UltimateFreakify it is an awesome sport but it's boring as hell if u go long distances by urself to get in extra training. I did a 100 miles and man was it boring, haven't been on my bike for about 6 months but i can't wait until the snow clears : )

  • hes great, just let it be, noone will ever prove him guilty

  • Good Lance will soon confess his doping abuse.... and maybe his other lies !

  • ouh, i can feel the hurt in my legs just by watching him go! makes me wanna go ride too :D

  • Id be pissed if some dude was riding beside me on a loud annoying moped saying "This hill just keeps going eh lance" Give him space.. Let him zone out

  • Go Lance

  • Damn it, towards the end the camera got so close I thought they were going to collide!

    (go Lance, go!)

  • Sure would be nice to have a climb like that where I live. Indiana's flat as hell. The only hill I have that's that steep is less than a quarter mile long.

  • no part 2? noooooooooo!!!

  • 17%...amazing.

  • he makes it look so easy

    hes a beast

  • his calves at 4:00 look like they about to explode. Lactic acid must be unbearable at this point.

  • I just love this sport so much. It's so painful :)

  • TANKKKK

  • wow 17%. rough

  • Fuck me the calfs, The triceps too! Looking strong man, Awsome!

  • Wow i bet that scooter pissed Lance off

  • this is what gets me in the mood to bike

  • ok im tired of haering all the o lance is a doper he suxs no body else in cycling dopes and the people who say what lance no hes an american boy he doesnt cheat. come on guys every one noes that ever pro dopes (or at least the ones that stay with the peloton). im sorry but its not a secret doping has been a part of cycling since the very beginning. get the fuck over it it will never change, because cycling would need to change

  • How is it possible to train with Carmichael who was implicated in the doping of the Junior US Team?

Easy, Lance trained with Dr. Ferrari, the most infamous doping doctor too. So no one is surprise by the finding of EPO in his samples!

  • aw that last mile looks so painfull

  • at 2:54 hes goin up 75 degrees !!

  • @Technopunkster

ARE YOU SURE?...THAT SOUNDS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE

  • The decent must have been sweet...Iam a 10yr old again once I hit the crest and start descending. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • este homem e fantastico.

  • What seperates him from other cyclists is when it gets real difficult, he pushes harder. I think it has something to do with living through cancer.

  • @partylwc good job einstein. thats the 1st time thats ever been said.....wait it has... SINCE 1999

  • Well I mean its true, if you bike you understand, Some guys go hard when its easy, but as soon as the race gets to a harder part the guys who win are the guys who attack there.

  • Really nice bike, i want one D:

  • io un video cosi mi sarei vergognato lance sei prorio piantato..........poi bevi un po' di red bull e ti mette le ali.........senza parole.

  • @thekingCG sembrava un amatore

  • Lance is a machine! That guy is simply amazing. Very inspiring.

On a side note: Ditch that loud scooter and use an electric one.

  • Esse Armstrong é show mesmo

  • i was in us for couple months, u enjoy when u ride ur bike, but here in Australia, its mostly flat, dry, lots of flies, wind, etc

  • Wish I lived in the U.S, damn they got some good roads. Over here in regional australia its all traffic and rage aholics trying to run you off the road.

  • you got that right! I've been sworn at, swerved at, had shit thrown at me... Fuck Australia (well Sydney anyway) and our attitude towards cyclists.

At least in Melb they give you bike lines, its not as bad, hopefully things will change in the future and bikes will be given equal footing.

  • this was a reply to toby099

  • wish I was in your place because you have good terrain for mountain biking but I wish I also lived in the U.S. because of good traveling roads.

  • the constant whining of the motorbike would be so annoying

  • yeah i know little things like that drive you crazy when your really working hard.

  • new saddle? They don't make a gear big enough for me to climb a 17% gradient, especially after 7 miles of climbing. He looked like a Cat 1 rider on a 7% grade. Crazy!!! Simoni called Lance a Pirahna. I hope there is a blood-bath at the 2010 tour.

  • Hell Ya!!!!

  • its like 'stop talking!'

  • do you realize how much more crap like that he has to deal with on the tour? 100000x worse with all the psychos trying to get their camera time when he passes by

  • his thoracic area is huge

  • Man! the more i watch these videos the more i want to start cycling this looks like an awsome sport.

  • it is very awesome! haha, i just started less than a year ago after running cross country. road biking is much better, especially if you have good roads. it is tough though, but all endurance sports are

  • it seems u haven't started cycling yet...just do it man....it's fun

  • @slavicman09 However good you think cycling is,it's a hundred times better on a good day. Have a good bike ride and you'll feel like nothing can beat that feeling.

  • @timewillprove Sure enough!

  • @slavicman09 dude you should it is great

  • @slavicman09 and its an expensive sport lol

  • @slavicman09 Yep you grown up just like me but i want go crazy fast is 32mph a good sprint for age 14?

  • @slavicman09

Its a tough sport, its not for the weary or weak, you must go all out or dont go at all. You learn about your bodies limits, but you also understand how awesome cycling is.

  • @slavicman09 best sport eva! tough to get started but awesome to improve

  • @slavicman09 Go for it mate :) Its the best thing i have ever done

  • @slavicman09 It is an awesome sport!

  • @slavicman09 agree!!

  • @slavicman09 it is an awsome sport =)

  • @juremaco123 except all the TDF winners have been juicing themselves. Such a dirty sport. But the sport itself is awesome. I wish that all the cyclists compete clean though.

  • @slavicman09 i highly recommend it. I am a beginning cyclist myself and there is no other feeling like being on the bike when it is just you and your bike. It is an excellent way to be in nature and seeing sights while staying in shape mentally and physically. Even though there is a slight start up cost, the rewards are very much worth it! GOOD LUCK!!

  • @slavicman09 It's really fun, but physically demanding. And this is coming from a 15 year old!

  • @slavicman09 It is an amazing sport and most of all very healthy

  • @slavicman09 You won't regret a bit. I improved so much my fitness when I started cycling and I enjoy it so much... If I had to choose only one of the sports I do and quit the others, I would chose cycling with no doubt.

  • @slavicman09 it is

  • @slavicman09

It absolutely is the best sport I know.

  • Lance will win TDF 2010...

  • @S2ug when is the tdf? will it be on tv?

  • @S2ug

    sure hahaha

  • @S2ug Fail

  • Comment removed

  • @S2ug

    too bad he didn't

  • @S2ug well we saw how that went lol what was he like 35th overall?? granted he did crash a couple times.

  • 39x28? damn. that's silly steep. What does a 28 tooth cog even look like?

  • a dinner plate

  • haha it is very big on a road bike. looks a little funny. i just switched from a triple to a double and 39x28 is doable, but pretty rough on steep hills

  • Holy cow at 2:50 what is that like 70% grade?

  • The gamera was tilted.

  • i think lance was a bit too bulky with muscle here, and amazingly this climb would have probably been much easier for him had he been at ideal weight, typical armstrong though he just powered on.

  • And yeah i've done some 15-20 % grade climbs to and its amazing after going from 180-150 lbs and no body fat how much faster it gets.. Now imagine weighing like 130 lbs like contador.

  • ive done 20% grade climbs at 5 or 6 mph and thought i was going really slow. that looked like roughly the same pace i would do it. then again he was riding for nearly 5 hours....lance is still awesome. but contador looks like he might outdo lance eventually.

  • i dont know, lance looks really built there but he doesnt look as slim as he did back in the early 2000s, and honestly i dont know why but im willing to be thats the difference. I mean Lance in his prime would be hard to beat, its like comparing michael jordan to anyone. Contador is by far the best right now but hes got a HUGE advantage on climbs like this. The man doesnt weigh much. Contadors main disadvantage would be a TT with a side wind or a head wind. With the wind hes fine.

  • thats the main reason he didnt win the tour this year. He thought he would get in shape for the tour by going to italy and riding there all he did is brake his collar bone. Come next TDF Lance will be fit and I am assuming he will win it again. Because lost it on the Alps because he had alot more weight.

  • damn that guy is annoying!!

  • lance is the man for being able to ignore this guy on the moped pestering him

  • "real strong real strong." armstrong should have kicked that fool off his scooter

  • Its his coach/trainer...

  • Comment removed

  • Holy Shit! Last mile is 17%

  • Holy shit....you hear him say 400 watts? Yup just pushing 400 watts on my training ride, not to the hard part yet...jezzzzzus

  • man stfu guy on scooter

  • Comment removed

  • When is lance going to do the Kona Ironman?

  • cool video

    carmichael is annoying however

  • looks humid

  • Insane!! I train on a hill near where I live...it's 12% for 300 meters and I'm suffering at 39/25 (my bike's lowest gearing). But 17% for 1 mile??!!! Freakin nutz. I wonder what Contador would look like on that same hill.

  • Nice hill =P i wish i had something like this,i have a few really steep hills around, there maybe a bit steeper but a lot shorter, we're talking like 2-3k only P:

  • Jesus... I'd be walking my 34-27 up that thing. 17% for an entire mile?? It hurts just thinking about climbing that.

  • 17 % what the fuck :O

  • ole! campeon

  • He said he's doing 400 Watts...

  • Nothing more annoying when you're killing yourself on a climb to have a scooter or car next to you or immediately behind you...

  • You can hear the scooter's motor struggling while trying to climb the hill.

  • i know those thighs hurt. lungs are on fire. suffering oxygen debt is hard as hell. you want to cadence like Lance on 17% grade but us mere mortals just can't sustain it. you LOVE it!

Funny, all cyclist know; the second you stop, the pain goes away in an instant.

Funny, it feels good to hurt so bad; especially when you know that you can put the hurt on other guys during your next race or hard training ride.

  • yeah man, the pain is addictive!

    why i do triathlon

  • id shoot th guy on th scooter if i was cycling up dat hill

  • learn to spell.

  • i'm secure enough with my spelling thank you, I just don't find the need to prove myself to other youtube users. lol

  • I ride about 20 hrs a week and hit grades above that near 18 percent in mountains of north carolina but this guy is a good notch above me; though i highly doubt hes on any major drugs.

  • Lance is a good notch above you? Correct.

  • Lance is unbelievable! He is looking good

  • that is nuts. I ride 12 hrs a week and look like crap on a 10% climb. That much speed on 17% is freakish.

  • This is what makes a champion; natural athletic ability, good training techniques, and a whole lot of hard work. Go Lance!

  • I'd love to go bicycling in Hawaii someday

  • Fuck Shit Up 2009!

    Go Lance!

  • contador is his team mate, and his said if Contador is stronger when the tour rolls around he'll help him win it.

As for sastre only time will tell that

  • goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood

  • Look at him!! Looking a bit bulky, but after 3 years off the bike and at the age of 37!! Looking strong, and his moves! Minimal energie wasting! He still has it in him... Few things get me exited but seeing him race again...brings back my childhoods great memories...even though he could be my father, I cheer him over the young guys... VIVA LA LANCE :D:D:D!!

  • ouch

  • he is my idol!!! such a legend!!!!!!

  • isnt he everyones

  • Impressive.

  • What a motivational trainer.
