I have become disgusted with all the off the puck goon tactics which injure great players. As the players get bigger and faster the injuries get worse, and it is time to make hockey a non-contact sport. I say this because there will always be collisions in hockey because of the speed of play, but there is no reason for the continued acceptance of body contact, especially all of the crap that goes on by players nowhere near the puck.

Russian Hockey has definitely not always sucked, Sadly the Soviet Union owned Ice kin the Olympics for over 30 years. Gold medalist in '56, '64, '68, '72, '76, '84, and '88. Silver and bronze medalist in '80 and '60. Not to mention the 19 Gold medals they had from the World Championship games. Even after the Soviet Union, Russia still won the games in '92 and earned a silver medal in '98 against the Czechs, and a Bronze in '02. Cherry is just an Ignorant asshole.

Cherry is just doing his "schtick". He wasn't even that good of a coach. His career was made by Orr who played a style far closer to the Soviet s of the time than to the 1970's NHL. Orr's style was very different than the 70's NHL , but he would have fit immediately with the Soviet teams because they played the same way as ORR. Puck posession, Speed, Passing, Stamina. Cherry entertained hockey, but Orr and Kharlamov inspired the game of hockey

The french invented it in the late 1700's and brought it over to Canada. I play hockey my friend and have been watching it since 1995 so I would say I have previous experience of the game.
