It seems to me that since the Fed is just a fraud , do we really owe anything? I contend that we have no debt at all. Perhaps we should give the printing and control of money back to ourselves and declare what has happened since the Fed's inception a crime and therefore pay NO debt whatsoever. National debt wiped out instantly.

The minimal ties to gold we had before the Great Depression were essentially worthless as the Federal Reserve created more money than the actual value of Gold allowed; thus, the majority of the "money supply" was tied to thin air while the minority was backed by Gold...this is why FDR confiscated all Gold and at the same time decreased the money supply drastically...problem...the remaining money supply in currency was not tied to Gold, but thin air.

Fractional Reserve contributed to increasing the money supply in the mid-late 20's - which is the direct cause for the Great Depression...a true Commodity (Gold) Standard doesnt allow for fractional reserve banking without decreasing the value of the commodity immediately...todays fractional reserve, as it is based on a fiat currency, takes years to decrease the value of the Dollar and ultimately has the worse affect on the middle/lower classes due to inflation.

you are comparing the value of Gold to the number of dollars we are in debt; not the value of the dollars we are in debt...the value of that trillions is way less than the trillion it is stated at...if Gold Standard was in place, the "cost" of items would drop relatively across the board to the actual "value" of items...this includes your labor (salary / pay rate)
