  • @jimbeauxtexas

I used to work with a woman who said she and JJ were at Lamar at the same time and ran in the same circles. She had a lot of anecdotal information about her and while I tend to be something of a doubter, her tales sounded credible. When this woman got married and had a baby, she put some distance between herself and Janis and seemed to carry more than a bit of guilt over that decision.

  • Dear Janis, you are real Queen! This song is so sad and true it's breaking my heart every time I hear it.So much feelings and emotions, such a great talent! You will live in my heart forever and I'll enjoy your amazing music while I live.

  • oh my God..

  • may be,so still emotion.

    not must everything happen.

    i feel,sadness.

    sadness,janis pain.

    why,her tell music is feathery?

    i never stop cry.

    but,

    i feel lady emotions.

  • Yea she was a sweetheart , saw her at golden gate park ,there will never be another JANIS---singing for Creator now.

  • "quizás" la mejor voz de todos los tiempos... ahi se va con el robert plant!

  • best song ever

  • have you heard a voice quite like that?

janis, richard manuel, rick danko, and way too many others with amazing talents have gone from this world way too soon

  • Perfect becouse she SANG, she was not a remastered studio shit who playback on the stage, showing her inner dress in live talk shows. She was not a "media monkey" as it is said in my country. She was a pure talent with a God given voice...

  • Heard this for the first time on AM radio. Janis you were truly blessed!

  • Maybe

Oh if I could pray and I try, dear,

You might come back home, home to me.

  • masterpiece)))))))))

  • wish now more than ever that i wasn't born in the 90's. i like a lot of new music but i just would rather be listening to janis joplin, jimi hendrix, bob marley, and the who more than anything.

  • @heyitskiahh than listen to them

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... *then. but thanks for the tip :)

  • @heyitskiahh you have born and that give you the pleasure to listen to janis

  • @heyitskiahh - who's stopping you?:)

  • Comment removed

  • @heyitskiahh i'm also a 90's kid and already had similar thoughts too, but i'd miss hiphop grown out of the last decade...

  • @heyitskiahh You still can, they left all their records behind. ^_~

  • @heyitskiahh rip amy winehouse

  • Peloescarpia

  • A Master of the human vocal chords.

  • @LongLiveStopMotion2 Destroyer is more like it. I saw her live several times and it was screechy.

  • @LongLiveStopMotion2 You can still listen to them anytime you want! And even though they're not in their prime, The Who is supposed to touring next year, so I hope you can get to one of their shows. Rock will never be better than it was from the 60s through the 80s. I am lucky enough to be old enough to have lived through those great years, but I feel for you. Just keep the music alive! Turn on your friends, go to whatever shows you can afford, and rock on!

  • @LongLiveStopMotion2 you¨r right

  • that soul is.... aaaarrrggghhh awesome!!! easy to play but hard to feel. and you cant really play it if you cant feel it.

  • OOH SI,NENA,DESTROZAME!

  • GRANDE

  • was reminded of this song again after watching an episode of freaks and geeks.

  • If I had a time machine, I would so hit.

  • I'm really feeling this old school vibe today.

  • that's incredible...

  • GarPeteY Janis was real no woman today could match what she had, only one close is my Mari she is mine sorry no share !!!!!!

  • she was beautiful, just like her music

  • I never heard anyone with so much raw emotion in her voice.

  • I Prefer John Frusciante version

  • @HikenNoVictor it's a matter of taste; and taste, my friend, is not a discussion topic.

  • la mejor! no hay palabras

  • @nayners I agree with you, i can listen to today's music but i don't feel it. I could feel amy winehouse's music, but she's gone too.

  • who the hell is katy perry on the suggestions?

  • this song is like better than everything amy winehouse has ever done in her life including her skill at being a druggy

  • I still love listening to Janis and was fortunate to see her in concert at Whooley Hall in New Haven but nothing compares with the original version sung by Arlene Smith and the Chantels, listen to it on youtube. The great list of singers that died at the age of 27 includes, Janis, Jimmi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Brian Jones and Kurt Colbane, just added Amy Winehouse to the Band in the Sky.

  • @MrRayFil It's like God's private concert.

With some of the best artists ever to walk this Earth.

  • @MrRayFil Kurt COBAIN, JIMI Hendrix.. Tard acting like you know what you're talkin about.

  • She can feel the music. Listen to how she sings , ..She can feel it . I mean ; Actualllly, feeeeel it. <3

  • Only one word to describe this song "BEAUTIFUL"(: <3

  • IM IN TEARS

  • @mtl1865 I know you are :)

  • @ Leela Debris Nobody can steal music, music is music and it's for everyone. Janis is famous because she is a legendary singer and no one is like her, no matter how hard they try. Thats the beauty of Janis Joplin, she is one of kind. So you can hold your opinion and say a particular race stole music from another race but in general everyone is thinking you are a jackass. Music is music and no one owns it.

  • This song is so much fun to sing.

  • The music of a beautiful, but tortured soul

  • yes! janis does a creditable job with this olde tune but her rendition is somewhat out of context with those earlier more simplistic, "Puppy Love," and "Bobby Sox" times (vhen i vas just ein a kinder) janis, was just so right for the psychedelic revolution of that era, in the 60s; she made her every production sparkle with her effervesced spirituality; even though and because of her sufferings she indeed elevated the throngs..Bless you "Pearl."

  • dont turn into a race issue nobody of any color could sing it like janis if there was you wouldnt be watching this video.the next thing you would say is little wayne is the best rapper ever even though eminem made him look shitty on his own album.oh and christina aguleria is not white as far as i know.

  • just love it how whites steal black music and go down in history for being greats. when they didn't created it . weather it be the way the band plays (cause Janis always had the best bands backing her) but its just sad that even to this day white pop culture steals black culture and get all the credit and their still doing it even today. they get a white face to represent black music. justin timberlake, christina aguleria and lets not fortget good old eminem. musical genius or just crooks? hm

  • @LeelaDebris Blues music started with black people trying to sing sad white music. Who played the guitar and sang in the English language first????? HMMMM?????Who taught6 who????? tired of hearing racist remarks like this. You want black music uninspired by us go to the jungles of Africa!!!!! Janis had a tortured soul that she could throw at you and is and always will be the Queen. People like you keep racism alive!!!!

  • @paulypaulification wow the jungles of Africa? wow who is really racist here? im just stating facts no need to get upset and personal. the point that i am driving at is. it wont sale unless there is a white face attached to it. meaning they dont want to see blacks. no the media wants to hear the music and the talent but they would rather see someone white or whiter looking. which is why you have a lot of female artist in particular who are either black but with light skin , white or Hispanic.

  • @LeelaDebris Joplin had great (my!) taste in music and her continuing fame has kept its sources in the awareness of those curious enought to go exploring into the realm of Sixties Soul: Irma Thomas, The Chantels, Erma Franklin, and many others. She herself would have expressed admiration for the originals--as did Elvis. Some artists less so, I'll grant you that. Nowadays the rappers, some of them anyway, make plenty of money: Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne...driving Bugattis.

  • @strandwolf all those artist that you stated are ppl that have been in the industry for years, look at who is out now and mainly female vocalist. they are all white, Hispanic or if they are black they are of lighter skin. i am merely stating how the industry and the media have treated artist of color. i'm not taking anything away from joplin but i wonder would she have been so popular if she wasn't white. think about that.

  • love janis, such a great texas girl!!

  • 2010SecondsAway!!! You say it beautifully!!! She, You and I are not alone because of Janis Joplin!!!

  • still miss you Janis, and always will

  • I love her too, and I feel her so.. But I wish I could have taken her pain away, it hurts so much , and is so hard to deal with.. Being misunderstood grows desperation, and babe if anyone can relate.. ! I just wish her outlet would have given her release and sanctity - Instead it seems to have done the opposite.. ! RIP Janis.. You are loved.. And you are not alone !

  • Oh Janis how I love you

  • On Rare Pearls I dig Maybe" I just saw a White Porsche

  • I honestly have to say drugs are bad, why? Because they killed her. RIP Janis

  • i want to smoke some weed and have Janis enter my soul

  • @30juliemango Me too. :)

  • <3!!! me hace sentir tantas cosas..... janis <3

  • i'm in love whit janis

  • love it!!!

  • the best voice ever!!!!!

  • So much talent left untouched and not understood by many !!! I will remember Woodstock & what I learned from being their , always. RIP Janis.

  • Thank God American Idol was not around this time cuz if it was we would not have witnessed one of the greatest artist of all time. simon would not have been able to comprehend the soul inside Janis..

  • @OchotresX simple simon was a pieman and ate shit.

  • Talvez,talvez,talvez...oh palavra que nos dá sempre uma dor e angustia...talvez

  • My boy wanted to watch American Idol last night. As I sat with him, he often remarked about one of the singers trying t sound too much like Janis. I told him the secret success to loving the voice of Ms. Joplin was understanding phrasing. It's totally jazz, and Janis knocks it out of the park with this one. Thanks for the upload.

  • I'm 15 and wish real music would be made like it use too. I love Janis and Richie havens.

  • FIERCE!!!

  • JANIS; WAS a true natural women .She worked hard so she could play hard,SHE IS SO BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT, AND SHE LIVED THE LIFE SHE WANTED TO AND DIED DOING WHAT SHE LOVED SINGING,

  • @lakota2719 JANIS JOPLIN DIED DOING HEROIN NOT SINGING

  • GarPeteY been in love with Janis since first time i saw her in 68 cant find a match in this in this era

  • sooooooooooooo good i cant get away from this song at the minute and its gr8

  • accentlawns, you are welcome. Seeing her live was a treat, but little did I know at the time how soon she would no longer be with us. I should mention that Freedom Hall where I saw her is in Louisville, Kentucky.
