Interesting thing I came back to these videos because this really closely resembles the Lanna Fon Jerng. It seems Tai martial arts are very quite similar. Even the video of the Lao royal palace guards doing their jerng :)
I highly respect the work you are doing there, bringing attention to the plight of the Shan people. I might not be able to assist directly, financially or otherwise, but I can favorite your videos, etc., and help spread the word through your own work. And, of course, I can say a prayer for the Shan people.
thank you for your prayers. i appreciate spiritual report as much as financial. in fact i wish i didnt even have to ask for finaincial because i just want people to see the videos and to tell their congressman or woman to please help.
actually the "salute" is not from the martial art. it is the normal way we say hello, good by, and thank you in shanland. it is part of everyday shan culture.
@brooklynmonk1 see brooklnmonk u speak thai to him he understands because shan r tai and thai r tai same family tree just seperated after mongols kick our asses but khmer all piss off at thais dont realise that thai can mean shan lao assam ahoi and many more other tai tribes not just thai siam but since khmer brain r size of peanut they dont know that

an interestin point: they salute the same way after a set like we do in kung fu!
Though, the sword set is a lil bit different cuz we seldom swap hands for swords in kung fu
