  • wonderful :)

glad to see the fast form still alive and kicking!

  • Anyone know if there's information available to the public on this form or any Wu style fast form. I've not come across anything in print (in English) yet.

  • Last few places left at this year's Double Dragon Alliance martial arts training camp in Shanghai 6th October - 14th October 2007.

Please check out our Double Dragon Alliance website or contact Rose Oliver for details.

Welcome to Shanghai and come and meet Master Liu for yourself!

  • That is true. High level teachers are loathe to display their personal forms training for the public. I've seen Sifu Eddie do a fast form in 1998, also his auntie Wu Yanxia demonstrated one in 1995, and his uncle Wu Daqi did one at the HK Founder's day banquet in 1980. Rarely done, and each different, but fast forms with jumps and fajin notwithstanding.

  • Yes, I know that Wu Ying Hua is a blood descendent of Wu Jian Quan. She did NOT practice this version of the fast form. Ma did. No one else in the direct blood line of Wu Jian Quan practices this version of the fast form. I can attest to that as I am a disciple of Master Eddie Wu (fifth generation of the Wu Family).

  • Don't confuse what Wu Ying Hua did in public with what she did behind closed doors. In public she never pushed hands, but everyone in Shanghai knows that Ma and Wu used to push hands private. Keep in mind that the martial arts became a target of the Cultural Revolution which further drove the art into secrecy. The fact that Shanghai Wu and the Hong Kong Wu are different simply means that different teachers choose to emphasize different things.

  • Agreed

  • I don't recognize this form. Is it Wu Jian Quan Style TCC, or Wu Hao?

  • It is the fast form from the Yang family as passed down by Wu Jian Quan to Ma Yu Liang.

  • It's interesting that no one in the actual Wu family practices this version of the fast form.

  • The Wu family in Shanghai all practice and teach this fast form.

  • Yes, I know. I mean that no one from the actual Wu (blood line) family practices this form -- i.e. Wu Jian Quan's descendents.

  • On wustyle dot com you can see the fourth generation of the Ma/Wu family descendents in Shanghai, their mother was Wu Ying Hua, the daughter of Wu Jian Quan. In China if you are family you are family and as such you are in the circle, because you represent the family's gongfu. It should also be noted that Wu Jian Quan himself also taught and lived in Shanghai and has students here to to this day.

  • now this is wu tai ji at its greatest ^^.
