  • I've watched this about 30 times because I'm trying to create Yuuya's deck :P

  • Yuuya Watanabe is the most chill pro magic player.

  • nice black lotus sleeves

  • @DeadHand1992 He cuts because the card Mind's Desire says you have to shuffle the deck first before flipping the to card. Saitou cut the deck just for speed (probably because its faster than shuffling). It was an intense match!

  • why does he cut between reveals?

  • what a hell? watanabe wins? O.o

  • how is anyone confused here? you youngins and your planeswalkers and what nots dont understand what a storm count even is?

  • o.0 what the hell

  • What the deck does:

It is Storm. I.E., when he casts a spell that has storm, it gets copied for each spell cast before it that turn.

On turn 3 with his ramp spells and lotuses, he had a lot of mana and storm count. He then cast Minds Desire, which makes him shuffle his deck, then reveal the top card - and he can play it for free. (With storm - 9 storm count = 9 copies on the stack). He eventually got Grapeshot and Electrolyze x2, which allowed him to deal lethal damage. Please upvote :)

  • @TimEddyHughes Turn 4!! In his first turn he exiles the lotuses. Then 3 turns later they come into play ;)

  • huh Yuuya Watanabe

    more like youyou wannabe

    right?

    right?

    RIGHT!!

  • combo breaker.......

  • These guys are great in the tactics and abiding to the shuffle and cut rules, i like that.

  • Storm Decks are sooooooooooooooooooooooo Rigggggggggged!!! one turn is like the entire match!

  • @teiouatobe

    XD

  • Wow, nice. He played the Mind's Desire, which means you basically shuffle and reveal the top card of the deck - and it has storm (it copies itself for each card played before it that turn).

He played 9 spells, then Mind's Desire, causing it to trigger 8 times (i.e, minds desire and 8 copies.); once all the copies resolved, he bounced the original.

  • Some form of commentary would have made this a lot easier to understand.

  • Say what?

  • what happened to just playing a land and playing a monster?

  • @JonathonInjection Saitou is playing Zoo, it is exactly that what you mean.

@ soemad5 it is your opinion but not the right opinion.

But wtf Saito didnt remove the Jitte counters to pump up +4/+4?

  • @JonathonInjection psh that's WAY too mainstream. These guys prefer to keep it underground :p

  • Poor zoo cant do enough vs storm

  • imagine if he had fireball in that deck XD

  • either watanabe was on manalock or he just didnt wanna play mana o.o

  • @JonathonInjection

He's playing TEPS; you don't need many lands. You need to cast your rituals and lotus blooms, then you have lots of mana and a high storm count to kill your opponent with a single card

  • lol

  • The Deck combos with Minds desire (exiles top card and u can play it free per spell played this turn) and a bunch of mana pool adding spells (makes it so he could play many spells in one turn) with scry like draw to find answers Like grapeshot for 15

  • at 1:45 did Saito cut his own deck in the end?

  • @MrGarruk123 Pretty common and honorable among the Japanese

  • @marcusngtzekiat

Grapeshot for over 16 damage (with all the remaining spells to play, the storm count would go to at least 15).

  • Would have been so funny if he suddenly realized he'd done something wrong and got 10 manaburn...

  • Mind´s desire for the winner !! 5 minutes making rainbows that holy fuck

  • his turn was fucking 5 minutes, holy fuck.

  • god i wish i was this good, that was a cool play between mind's desire and grapeshot

  • i want that table just to eat my lunch and dinner. have my veges goes on the tree, flaming tacos on mountain, sprite on island, fries on plains and dope on swamp,

  • I'm confused. After fetching, why did Saito cut his deck again after Watanabe had already shuffled it? Is that legal?

  • @daryldeveyra He probably just cut it again out of habit, but he also offered Watanabe to shuffle it again, though Watanabe refused. It was probably an illegal thing to do, but since Watanabe didn't protest and call the judge, no fuzz was made of it.

  • at the time was this extended or legacy? i'm guessing extended but idk :/

  • Oh and he does fetch for a Grapeshot, the opponent scoops at that time.

  • What happened was, he had shit loads of mana and storm count too high, any brain freeze, grapeshot, etc. would kill his opponent.

  • whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat the FUCK just happened???? :/ im confused here.

  • @exp1jhon storm ability happend making that grapeshot hitting 11 damage

  • @exp1jhon he gained like 15 mana casted a minds desire and grapeshotted the other dude 11 times

  • @exp1jhon It was a combo deck, storm copies a spell for however many spells played in a turn if I recall corectly don't know what he stormed though, most likely a burn spell

  • @Ihatemelee grapeshot :-)

  • @tordenjonny ahhh when I looked up that card it made me lol. he stormed grapesot, epic

  • @Ihatemelee 2 electrolyze's = 4 damage grapeshot = 11 damage won the match

  • @exp1jhon he used the lotus bloom to add 3 mana, then he played a lot of card, mind's desire has storm

  • @s3ph7r0th then he played grapeshot, which has storm, so he won the match

  • god i want to play legacy

    !!!!

  • we Americans are better than the asians at MTG

  • Nice Shuffle-Skills Saito

  • What do they use for?

  • I should learn how to play magic. hmm.

  • how many cards are they playing with?

  • those black lotus sleeves are sexy as shit!

  • @luchador1764 I bought them because of this Vid, 8 Euro... not cheap at all XD

  • badass

  • Saito shouldve played wild nacatl instead of tarmogoyf the turn he did.

  • that was 1 long turn and 1interesting combo. Too risky if you ask me though

  • @wohoo5150

    Its very consistent.

  • @Ballinlolz how so? he has a 1/32 chance of getting both lotus's at the same time in 1 hand.

  • @wohoo5150

You can go off without lotus.

you have 4 lotus, and 16 other add mana to your pool cards. then desire

  • I wish they made those red zone mats available to buy and not just on the tour. Those things are awesome.

  • If Saito had Helix/burn spell in hand, he would have won this game.

  • Why Watanabe had extra turn after he played Peer through depths?

  • @braun3812 Played it at saitos end step

  • TEPS is The Extended Perfect Storm. The name comes from the vintage scene which has a deck called tps (the perfect storm obviously =P).

  • what does teps stand for pls tell me ty

  • @AlbertChyn I believe it stands for "The EPic Storm"

  • Wow I freaking hate burn dexs

  • That was intense as hell.

  • it's like a samurai match..... with the bows and stuff lol.

  • the zoo deck keeps shuffling his deck after the opponent shuffled it, i don't think thats legal

  • @teal2180 You're right, that isnt legal. These two players are friends though.

  • i hate these coz i cant see the cards :(

  • it would have been a lot better in english :(

  • @pokemonkiller20 I can understand this despite the fact that it's not in English(no, I don't understand Japanese). And that's more than I can say for most M:TG videos that ARE in English. Including ones produced by people whom you would think would know how to make entertaining television, such as ESPN.

Just keep "Gatherer" open to look up cards you don't know.

  • Realize this dumbass this is a Grand Prix in JAPAN, meaning no Americans and a lot of players are pretty skinny... you must be thinking of YGO players.

  • @PoketoMtg i'm a Yu-Gi-Oh player and it takes me 4 months to reply to a comment.

  • @PoketoMtg Hey I am a yugioh player and I am not fat and i find this statement slightly offensive

  • @pikachuthepokemonash then man up and play MTG more weeaboo

  • @garrysmodsroxs Did someone just say weaboo? 'cause I think I just heard someone say weaboo.

  • @Greenlexluther I think you mean you read that?

  • @garrysmodsroxs that doesnt exactly fit the meme though does it?

  • @reno666 jk btw

  • he cast a grapeshot with a storm of 10 and two electrolyze that is 15 dmg :P

  • wow wtf ? can someone explain wat happened here??

  • yeah wtf did the guy on the left do, all he was doing in the end was draw cards and play them for free and won?

  • Yokudekimashita. Dang, that was the perfect storm!

  • I love these games that are edited after the fact, rather than the live stream uploaded.

  • i love those card sleeves!

  • GG.

  • Comment removed

  • The only think I could clearly understood is that theleft players suspended Lotus Bloom lol...

  • LOL i like the way watanabe picks his card at start its so.....ritual.....haha i like those lotus sleeves!!

  • Anyone know if you can get the play mat they play on in this video?

  • rofl @ long handshakes

  • 2 elektrolyse omg

  • how did he win when he only got the storm count to 11 and saitou had 14 life?

  • He managed to do 11 damage with a grapeshot, as well as the two elctrolyzes he pulled from the top, which each did 2 damage, for a total of 15

  • All the other guy had to do was play all the other cards off of the mind's desire to get a large enough storm count to negate the effects of the jitte.

  • @BlazeRocky22 It was finished because he could have played the Desire again.

  • with 2 elektrolyse, he did 15 dmg, not 11

  • he could play 3 more cards, +2 to electrolize (4 dmg) and storm goes to 16, then grape hit for 17 and 4 from elktrolyse is gg

  • Remanding one of his Mind's Desires was a pro play

  • @novamatrix I think thats not pro play, its the reason why the card is in the deck...

  • @novamatrix

It's not a pro play, it's the correct play. Putting a card back into your hand to reuse it is simple; the only difference here is that the card was buried under many copies.

There is no such thing as a "pro play", there is only the correct play, the innovative play, the weak play, and the wrong play

  • i'm kind of new at the game, this isn't standard type II right? could anybody tell me what type are they playing?

  • looks like extened arfoe

  • 0:07

    Format: Extended (type 1.x)

  • Comment removed

  • darn it. i was keeping track of the game with the little card titles in the bottom, but for some reason they stopped for a short while and then i was completely confused, lol.

why did his opponent start placing cards from his library on the table? couldn't figure out which card had this effect

... and also couldn't really work out what the win condition was. oh well. i might watch it again and see if i can make out the cards from the grubby pixelated video.

  • Mind's Desire lets you shuffle your deck, reveal the top card, and play it without its casting cost, and it has storm. Watanabe let Saitou do the cutting and revealing is all.

The win condition was the Grapeshot he revealed.

  • It looked like a cascade effect to me.

  • ...seriously?

  • storm

  • oh wow... that was awesome. didn't see the remand coming.

  • i LOLed at the Stormcounter :O

  • grapeshot FTWTF

  • damn, that storm is dangerous.

  • Lawl grapeshot
