  • @leemero check out my other 42 listings mate. My latest one 'I Sleep On My Heart' is the best quality :) Let me know what you think!

  • I keep watching this. Best bass work I've ever seen on YouTube.

  • Hey brutha! Love the new add ins!!! Very Funky! Only a couple of bass players on U tube can play Mark King! The Funk and nuttin but da FUNK! Got me smilin like a fool!

  • I know, but I'm not promising anything! I'm going to do a cover of a live version from 83 ish :)

  • nice 1... but don't put too much into it ey mate...sometimes too much can be bad= not slagging you though, great performance

  • i was only looking at this a few minutes ago! I'm going to post another version, so keep checking!

  • This was great! Liked how you added your own flavour!

  • Hi djfobtronics,

Thanks mate, check out some more of my vids, they all have my own little twist on them!

  • Cool Jon, really enjoyed it. Cheers.

  • many thanks, check out my other vids too

  • i got to be honest m8 i much rather the way u played it anyway. yes u put your stamp on it which i like it works well. i cant believe what a great sound u got going on with your washburn status 1000 wow!!! what amp u using m8.. rod

  • Hi Rod,

All I'm using is an old 10 watt guitar amp, with the wire disconnected from the speaker to some old hifi speakers from the 80's. I'd love to have heard my status through a proper amp, the other blokes using the status 1000 seem to go for the really trebly sound with no depth, so I try to make the best of what I've got!! Thanks compliments mate!

  • love this 1 m8 although ive watched quite a few of your vids and they all fantastic.i think i revert back to this 1 as its the first song ive experimented with lol great challenge to ;-) keep up the good work and just keep posting ..rod

  • Thanks Rod, I was incredibly nervous on this one as I think it was one of my first vids - didn't help that the d string lost tune!!

It as also one of the first L42 songs I could get to grips with - still don't play it 100% right!, but as usual, do things with my stamp on it :)

Thanks for the kind words and comment

  • nice 1

  • cheers Rod, did this one ages ago before I worked out how to get the best out of my camera!

    Thanks for the comment

  • Woow... Nice sounds. I really like it.

  • cheers! I just put on another L42 vid, so check it out if you like :) Thanks for the comment

  • I want to ask. About the basses. Is that status basses you used? What type that status? How much prices you buy the basses mister?

Sorry for my bad english langguage. (^_^)

    Hehehehe....

  • it is a status-washburn series 1000 bass. designed by status with status pick ups, the rest is made by washburn (no graphite etc..) They are a good price if you want the status sound without the lots of money spent. Goto ebay UK and there is one identical to mine on there at the moment. they usually go for around £300 uk pounds.

    You english is great!

  • Thank you mister. (^_^).

  • This is by far and away the best version of this I've found on YT so far. Amazing.

  • Thanks! I always try to be a bit different!

  • oh man I love this song I never realized you did this one too...I found your channel because I recently acquired a Washburn Status like yours except its translucent green

  • great! I look forward to hearing it, mine (in all my vids) isn't running through a proper bass amp, I'm using hifi speakers, so will be great to hear what it soundsl ike properly. I look forward to your posting, and thanks for the comment

  • so, this was your first slap/pop song? wow, thats impressive, how long did you work on your technique before you attempted this? infact, how long have you been playing bass guitar? u are the man! rock on

  • I've never really practiced at bass to be honest, i just picked up things playing along to songs and watched players like Mark King/Stanley Clarke/John P etc... I'm not sure when I first attempted this, but I wouldn't have figured out the fast bits when I first started playing! I've been playing on and off for about 10 years. I'm slef taught so still learning - I hope :) Check out some of my other vids for a better sound! Thanks again for the comment and compliment!

  • Amazing i really enjoyed this. I started working this out ages ago but left it for some reason. You have just given me a reason to pick up from where i left off!!!

  • Hi Danthewelshy,

Glad you enjoyed the vid mate, let me know when you post your version - I might nick a few ideas ;)

Thanks again for the comment and compliment

  • Ciao, good stuff here. Great slap groove!

Hey, do you play with some band? You should!

  • cheers mate, its not my best vid! No band at the moment, but I might have someone interested for a bit of studio work. many thanks for the comment and compliment!

  • great job indeed ! can you plz explain that lick at the 0:55 moment?

  • Hi Pepy667, glad you enjoyed it. The bit at 0.55 sec (and other bits!) is like a 5 stroke roll (as a drummer would play), you play between your two hands, slapping/hammering on and a double on your thumb - I think! See Mark Kings video 'the pier', he explains it properly!! Or look for Mark King technique I think... :)

  • check out 'mark king bass techniques' - he tells you the secrets of slapping!! Watch it over and over and the fast playing starts to make sence :)

  • good job

  • glad you enjoyed!

  • well done....good tech` sounds good and correct. hmm but when i learned this song ...

there were hight notes....on the second part...on the G string- 12\14

    somthing like that.

by the way i like the way you improvise, true bass player. good work

  • Thanks Jeffery. I never play a song note for note, can't help but improvise. Cheers Jon

  • Sounds good mate......nice job.

  • Thanks again mate :) Will hopefully put some more on soon
