I have to disagree again. XD New York is the world capital or art, food, avertising, media, and real estate. It's economy is the second largest and population is the 4th largest. It has a GPD of over a trillion.

But its dominance in most things was overtaken probably in the early 20th century. You assume the rest.

@artwel123 - I wonder if there are more people who get this special feeling by wlaking trough the streets of London at night ? I'm just so in love, I just can't get enough of this beauty.. wish I would/could live there right now & celebrate new years eve there.. it would just be incredible.. can't wait till 2014 when i'm studying in Cambridge I swear I'll go to London 3x a week.. sorry for telling so much, im just .. in love like I said before :))

itom it is a fact that for most recent years london has been the number on finance centre. However the reality is that in finance, fashion, retail, theatre etc there is little or nothing between London and NY. They are effectively equal.

NYC DOES NOT have a small population compared to ANY city. Its population of 8.4 million is only 5 million less then the largest city proper in the world, and it's metro area is ranked FOURTH.

Dude...London was NEVER the capital of finance. In fact, statistically, it's the capital of nothing besides Great Britian. PLEASE do some research, I could link you to 1000 articles that state NEW YORK is the financial capital. London COULD of passed NEw York in 10 years had the economy not collapsed, but it did.. and New York recovered faster then the EuroZone, cementing its status of the capital of finance, I even linked an article somewere below me. London isn't in the Euro Zone. search "Britain overtakes US as financial captial" Britain over-took the U.S as the financial capital of the world. New York isn't some frickin mecca thats the capital of absolutley everything. Just because an artical says it is, doesn't mean it's true. Actually, there is no financial capital of the world, unless someone gets oficial statistics. New York is not the capital of anything, not even the United States.

dude. ive done EXSTENSIE research on this subject. i had an award winning debate on londons wikipedia discussion page. go check it out. where i refenced all types of material to prove london was not only never ahead of new york, but isnt now either. because me me they actually changed the article to saylondon and new york rank as the top center, and not just london. why? cause i proved it to be unntrue.

I have to disagree again. XD New York is the world capital or art, food, avertising, media, and real estate. It's economy is the second largest and population is the 4th largest. It has a GPD of over a trillion.
I fail to see what catagory london can compete in other then finance, and even that new york still leads in (as my previous post said)

Agreed The 2 cities you mentioned are wthout peers. First or second is debatable.However talented people in all walks of life dream of a piece of NYC whether it's Wall Street - Fashion Avenue- Metroplitan Opera- NYC ballet - Broadway- Owning a NY Restaurant-training at Julliard School of Music- etc. etc.These are the loftiest goals motivated people from ALL over the world aspire to.Conquer NYC and you've reached the zenith. Yes- many end up in London-The DREAM is East of the Hudson.

used to be the worlds leading city in the 19th century. Don't get me wrong- London is a world class city . I would love to visit this [yours?] great city. Truly remarkable institutions/structures and the people have a civility and wry wit about them you don't see in our major US cities. But its dominance in most things was overtaken probably in the early 20th century. You assume the rest.
