All of these stimulus programs and the transferring of industries from the private sector to the government will only convolute everything even more, though it may appear to produce minor relief in the short term (enough to secure re-election if voters don't actually figure out the true causes and effects?). But they will also one day lead to yet another big bad correction.

This statement is much different from claiming that the fundamentals of the economy are strong. Obama says there are ASPECTS of the economy that need to be encouraged (i.e. small business, entrepreneurship) and not making a blanket statement about the economy.

Half the problem with the Auto makers is the union demanding outrageous wages and benefits for an unskilled worker who does only one minute job for the company because if he is asked to do anything more, no matter how small, he cries to the union. That is why they have been outsourcing so many jobs, that and the taxes in Michigan are so high. The union employees demanding so much for doing so little is half the reason they are losing all of their jobs.
