I love Stephanie's shout of "Yes!" when the bill is passed! Finally a victory after so many setbacks. Of course it had more meaning for Shari. It would be great if abuse could be stopped, period, but at least there are laws and people willing to fight for the victims and punished and expose the perpetrators. Although it probably still doesn't happen enough.
@thipsy24 try LISTENING to what she said, she knows that something happened with the father, SHE ADMITTED IT. Shari can't make her turn on their parents, but at least the sister believes her now.
@thipsy24 Exactly!!! I would have told her get the steppin the minute she said she knew and throw that broken necklace out the door with her. What a bitch.
I know she got a lot done for other victims, but she's all alone. I'd rather never find something like that out than to be so ruined. And, with her parents not admitting it, it's like this festering, unresolved dark cloud in what is already a shit storm. If they had at least come out with it, and they all went to therapy, I would feel less sad for the woman it's based on.
While I agree with this bill 100%, it defies the whole point that the movie built up to. Her original issue was that molested children wouldn't be believed in court because it was their word over their educated, upper class fathers. This bill is pushing for the exact opposite. So 30 year old victims get a larget chunk of money for pain and suffering--what about the children stuck in abusive homes?
great. But he doesn't get punished, all he has to do is give her some money. Wow, like money is going to make up for the years of abuse, rape and sick torture. There will never be any justice in situations like this. It's only if they are caught early, that's when they get the punishment they deserve. Death, or life in prison.
In britain all they get is like seven years. for raping a child. It should be life.
this comment might be hated on, i know Shari is doing the right thing but she should just try and let others speak THEN he wait her turn and maybe someone will take her seriously and not keep on kicking her out.
