@piplupmaster100 If you're still interested in an answer, soprano saxophones are typically shaped in a straight, conical fashion, rather than the bent, conical fashion associated with other saxes, because it is far easier to make them straight than curved, much like the clarinet. A curved soprano requires more work done to it with the same results as a straight soprano, so only a few companies are willing to spend extra time and money to make curved ones. Plus straight soprano saxophones usually
@WilbertVereAwdry have a better, brighter sound than curved ones (depending on the instrument) and are favored by most saxophonists for their distinctive tone, relatively cheap price (compared to curved soprano saxes) and their ease of maintenance. Combine all those factors when making a soprano sax, and the result is a straight-bodied, conical reed-blown aerophone much resembling the modern clarinet. That's why you'll find most soprano, sopranino, and all sopranissimo saxes, resemble clarinets.
Such I beautiful song and beautifully and soulfully played by a sensitive and talented musician. Could you tell me the name and composer of the piece as I would like to order the music.
Thank You and my condolences for losing a dear friend.
I have just found the Soprano Sax through Julian Smith form BGT show. Found your vid an just love what you have done with this tune and love it to bits Tim/... you are great .. thanks for the music
The sensation of peace is great when someone to heard this music. When somebody heard you play, then it's impossible not believe in God. Congratuations!
This is why music is here, and why it is so great. Your amazing, thanks for the great music. I wish I could play Soprano Sax, but I already play a bunch of others.
I watched this video well over a year ago, and I was incredibly impressed, playing alto, tenor, and occasionally soprano and baritone. Let me tell you, this vid impressed me just as much as it did then. BEAUTIFUL JOB!
AMAZING! I hope you keep with the soprano sax! As a fellow sax player I am glad to see someone who shares my love for the saxophone and is a great player. AMAZING!
WOW! I am amazed at how well you play. I play Alto (poorly) and recently started Bari (I'm still bad). I always wanted to try a soprano, but never got the opportunity to. Now I'll have to try harder. You've inspired me! And I'm very sorry about your friend...
Your tone's pretty jazzy which fits this piece. I am surprised to see that you are actually holding the damn thing right and not like a clarinet like I've seen so many people do. The performance conveys a nice feeling. Good job overall.
For those of you wondering if I had a CD, I just recently finished a Christmas Album with friends of mine from college. If you are interested in hearing a couple of the tracks send me your email address and I would be happy to share them with you. Have a Happy New Year!
I appreciate all of your wonderful comments on my video. Your input and remarks mean a lot to me.
I will admit that I tend to over blow some of my crescendos, it's just my style. I have worked with my professors this past year to correct the way I perform my crescendos and I have made great progress.
My soprano saxophone is a Yamaha YSS-475 model. I would recommend this instrument to anybody who would like to learn to play the soprano sax.
great tone and all..but i agree with the comment below about the overblow cresendos. maybe if you cresendoed through longer phrases instead of choppping them up it would be more effective. otherwise...one of the best soprano sax sounds ive heard
I want to thank everyone for their wonderful comments on my video. Its hard to believe its almost been one year since the loss of my good friend Matt. This performance always reminds me of the good memories that we shared. I miss you buddy. M.T.V. 1988-2006
I almost cried man; shivers, and heart warming feelings. Great job. If there's a heaven, your friend is smiling down on you and you deserve it man. Beautiful playing.
You play the song with such emotion. I've probably watched your video 1000 times over. It just dosnt get any worse. The first time I watched you I almost cried. I then tried to learn it by listening to you. (I have a very good ear) I played it on my alto saxophone and my mom heard and she cried and then offered to get me a new sopranno! Loved you and God bless you! :)
hey i have an alto too and REALLY want to learn how to play this too but my ears don't seem to be as good as ures lol. Do u think u'd be able to send me the sheet music? flojo_c@hotmail(dot)com
Dear Tim, You have taken the soprano sax to another level. Praise God's name who has equiped you with the ability to play so eloquently. Great intonation! Share with me the name of that song. Cell# (973)380-2678 THANKS.
Great job, you sound very nice, can you give me the piano and sax score of this song please? I would like to make this show with my girlfriend. Thanks.
Praise God. You do such a great job with filling the emotions of the song. What brand of sax do you play here? How long have you been playing? I've played the clairnet and I've been wanting to get a soprano sax one but don't know the first thing about them. What would you recommend? Yours has such a good sound. Blessings and keep on pressing into Him so He will bless your music muinistry.
I want to thank you all for your very nice words. That performance was all for my buddy. This performance was actually the day we buried him, it was perhaps one of the hardest days of my life. He was my best friend and I will never forget the memories we shared. God Bless. Matthew T. Valus 1988-2006
My sister's best friend died also. When we buried her, there was a girl who played the saxophone. I know how difficult it is. Stay playing the sax. It can help you very much...
I think actually the classical tone in this setting was very appropriate as it was a tribute to a deceased friend. And, actually, in my observation, you couldn't hear much of the classical tone until more towards the end.
people always say that to comfort people but how can someone dead listen now? how? they are dead and gone - it's no comfort, and it just makes everything worse. Of course theres things I dont understand. My wife is dead, I'm here alone, I'm sure my wife would be proud of me, but how am I supposed to know that.
I just want you to know that just last month my grandmother died- and it shocked my world. she never got a chance to hear me playing. And this kid's playing was touching to the heart. I played for the first time for my nani- and I choose to believe that she was there listening in spirit. It has to be some comfort. I do not understand it all either- but there are things that we have to just simply believe in.
