we are going to playoff this year we got excellent rookies ryan smyth back and players who are are gonna beat on people and provide an imtimidation factor we gotta dump khabibulan to the minors call up a goalie and keep dubnyk
Goddamn that was an exciting time to be an Oilers fan. Let's hope we can make some smart moves this off season (ie unload Khabibulin, Souray, pickup a promising defencman) and try to move back in this direction within 5 years or so. Also, this should be our entrance song next season.
@lupischuckle actually was an exiting time to be a canadian fan.... thought we get the stanley cup in canada for the first time in forever lmao cause the one in ottawa blew that calgary was exciting to but ye lol
@MysteriousMrX Losing him? How so? He has a 30 day sentence (which will only be 15 days in prison with time served) and then he'll be back with the team before training camp even opens. So where's the loss? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd prefer it if he left, but it looks like he'll be sticking around for the foreseeable future.
@lupischuckle dude the incredibly unlikely chance that someone would have taken him off our hands this off-season just turned into a 0% chance. I want him gone from my Oil too but it'll never happen, since nobody wants his cap hit for a old goalie who gets worse with each passing season.
@MysteriousMrX Well I didn't say it was likely he'd be off our hands... No team is so desperate that they'd want him on their payroll. It might just be better if we dump him in the minors, and then try to waive him- basically do to him what we did with Souray. But again, that likely won't help unload him. He's like herpes, we can't get rid of him.
Alright. Yeah I kinda figure he'll be around until his contract expires. No point tryin' to give him away on waivers unless we've got another guy we can put out there, and maybe plannin' on making a run this next season. I hope we DO make a run next season, but to be honest I think we're still a year or two and a legit starting goalie who's not a coke-fiend or an ex-con away from that happening.
@MysteriousMrX Well to be fair, Grant Fuhr was a coke fiend and Craig Mctavish killed a guy while driving drunk... So this team has a long history of employing men of 'questionable ethics.'
My favourite year ever! And I was there for the Gretzky era and celebrated all those victories, but those were expected. This run was magical and we went waaaayyy beyond anyone's imagination. Thanks Oilers!
Dude, it was phenomenal. I have a video somewhere of the CBC broadcast and you can hear the fans cheering thoughout and chanting, "Let's Go Oilers"!! It is frickin' fantastic!!
Goosebumps. Still. Always.

This is awesome. I can't imagine being in a hockey rink that's as small as Edmonton's when this starts.
Said it before and I'll say it again - thanks to the Oilers and fans for beating the Wings in 06. Too bad they didn't win it all that year.

thanks for posting this. I seen it live at game 4 of the Western Conference finals against the ducks, and on the oilers website recently.
