Iceland is an example to all western countries. Is the only country whose justice is pursuing the criminals that sinked his economy and the country that democratically decided not to pay the exploded national debt due to the selfish and irresponsable actions of those criminals. Iceland is the only true democratic country nowadays with responsable and educated citizens that demands a responsable governament.  I wish I were icelander. If some day I can make it I will go to live and work there.

@smudge6699 It is now possible for any individual or business to start up a currency that has the potential to be as significant as any current currency such as the dollar due to the internet. I think facebook although they have only used their currency for buying and selling virtual items have realised the huge potential that it can be used for far more than the buying and selling of virtual junk.

Its private so it can be inflation or not it matters not because these currency's will compete.

@smudge6699 Well thats exactly what I am suggesting, why play someone else's game? because thats what your all doing, your trying to fix THEIR money system, it is private, you have no say in their game. But you can start your own.

Who said anything about debt based money? Thats what you assumed, it does not have to be debt based, there is no one way, alternative currency's can take many forms. money is simply a symbol for the energy of people which is the only wealth in the world.

Apologies for an unforseen ambiquity.

We used to and should trade money with real value rather than notional. The latter is debt based and inflation is sown in exponentially which is why there is only one direction now.

@smudge6699 Theres no such thing as money with real value because value is not derived from money, money is mearly the common form of exchange of value.

This is the major misunderstanding, people do not know what value is, they think value is the pound coin or the dollar or the gold coin, they are wrong, they have not traced back deeply enough to establish what value actually is.

@larryoloai It could be worse. I'm in Australia who is in the middle of the biggest housing Ponzi in the world today and we actually think 'it's different here'!

The Australian Dollar is about to hit parity with the USD but I'd warn ANYONE against investing here... we're next in line to implode after our ridiculous debt fuelled binge!
