How can one not get chocked up when viewing this story. Nausea swept over me as I realized just which story was being told. 9/11 all over again is a tragedy affecting each and every American, but perhaps none so much as for those who lost their beloved ones. Thank you, absolutely amazing story. I was to be at the Marriott in the North tower that day. On the 20th floor. I traveled from California to NY each week and always stayed at the Marriott. I would have been sleeping or eating breakfast in my room. I felt so lucky to have changed my plans at the last moment. After hearing your story, now I feel blessed.

Toes 1444 continued - With my decision to work KP the rest of the Platoon agued about who would walk point. A friend of mine (Rodgers) said he would take my spot if he could carry my weapon (M-49 grenade launcher). The patrol left he hill, entered a patch of jungle, Rodgers was blown to pieces from a comand detonated 155 artilary shell. Rodgers died in my place and I have carried that with me for 43 years. I look at this and I think, wow, look how much honor I am moved to show these great godly pilots who died. Has there every been one day in my life where I have shown this much honor to He who died willingly and purposefully for me? To he was better than an all-american, He was sinless and perfect. What a powerful story. As we come to the end of the christian church age we will see and hear more about people that God has placed in specific places.
Good and evil is in a spiritual battle for our souls. We know good will win out.
I also heard of a Christian flight attendance that was on one of those planes. His wife said he wanted to be where he could do the most good to lead others to Jesus.
God will put us in places where we will have the opportunity to serve him and glorify the Father.
My life has also been spared three times that I am aware of, and maybe countless others...I, too, want to continue with my life objective, "All for Jesus" until the final call to come home!
I am surprised it took so long for him to become curious about what flight it was that day, and wonder if he maybe knew the pilot.
I used to work for AA and even I wondered if I knew the flight or any of the people the moment i heard it was an AA plane.
But it is a very inspirational video, not trying to take anything away from the meaning of it, just that struck me as strange for him to take so long to become curious about that.
I absolutely adore "In My Seat..." Vid, I found myself watching it while taking a note of Steve Sheibner's various golden quotes in it. I am convert from Islam. I strangely was baptised In Christ on Aug 28 2001, approximately 2 weeks b4 the WTC attack. And Steve, as a being, is a genuine representative of the Heart and Soul of the USA and what it's about. Though Sophisticated, and Xtremely capable, yet still humble and willing to submit to the Authority of Christ. This is why I LOVE the USA.

Thanks for the video, I also had the same type of experience in the Navy. I was a radio operator on P3's with VP 31 out of Moffett Field in California. I had traded flights with another shipmate. The flight crashed doing touch and go's and everyone was lost. When I showed up for preflight everyone thought I was a ghost, my name had never been taken off of the flight sheet in operations. To this day I still feel like I'm also on borrowed time. Thanks again for posting.... God Bless

It is not as if God 'took' Tom but let you live. The events of September 10th occured as a nautural result of the choices of man. God was not micro-managing the events of 9/11. If He were, He would have preventing the manifold sequence of events that lead up to that day. But, 'providence' is a word that may be used when mankind does not understand the thoughts and ways of the true and living God, that are as high as the heavens above man's ways, and beyond man's understanding. WOW! What a testimony! We never know when our time will be up. This reminds me of 2 brothers behind the badge were murdered on 07/26/2009. One of them was not even on duty that day but as was usual for him, he was out on his on time working on drug cases and went to assist the other deputy serve a warrant. Neither of them certainly entertained the idea this would be there last call. It can be anyone, at any time. Thank God he has made a way for us to all be ready for that time, and know.

This is very touching. For the life of me, I will never understand the level of hate and evil that resided in those men who took control of those planes and killed people in the planes and then flew them into the buildings and grounds killing so many more. I guess their mindset is so different from Americans who value life, love, family, faith and so much more that the people who sent them will never understand.

An earlier poster could not understand why a loving God could let tragedies happen. Forced love is an oxymoron. Further, God gave us the POWER to tell him to go jump in the lake. Examples? Before creation the Devil left Heaven. After creation Adam and Eve. Jesus in Luke 13:34 is sorrowing for Jerusalem, however he concludes with, “but you were not willing.” With willing people like you Peter, God can and does use people and even bad incidents to further his Kingdom. Thank you for sharing your story. My Dad and family also from Georgetown Maine and Dad flew out of BNAS in Brunswick back in the late 50's, also the same type of aircraft. I knew both of these pilots very well. Both were the model officer and reflected the values our country strives for in our country's leaders. I served with both in separate squadrons. This story is very well done. This causes me to reflect why I was able to walk away from the Pentagon on 9/11 as my office burned and eventually collapsed that morning while others did not.
I knew Tom. I can tell you his story would have been the same if the tables were turned on Steve. Tom had a deep relationship with Christ and lived his life with that conviction.
This is a very moving video and the phone call gave me goosebumps. I just didn't get the connection between the story of 9-11 and the death of christ. But maybe my english isn't good enough to grasp what he meant..
@MrChkA It is all about someone else dies in your place. Christ died in our place, 2000 years ago, for our sins.
Jesus Died for you and me, and He would have, even if we were the only ones who needed a sacrifice. This gentleman was saying that the other pilot died in his place on that plane, that he was the second one to die for him. The pilot didn't die for his sins as a sacrifice. The pilot was simply there instead of him. (I hope this helps you understand.)
@MrChkA God requires a payment for sin that no *human* can ever pay (Romans 6:23). Jesus Christ,God's Son, paid that debt by dying on the cross in my place and in your place. Anyone can have forgiveness for the debt of their sin by believing that Christ died in their place and trusting that Christ will forgive their sin.
@pewilt So, there is no direct connection between the two things. It's just an analogy for dying in somebody elses place? It sounded a bit like being a christian saved him from boarding that flight. But I guess I got that wrong.
On September 11, 2001 I was a 727 Ground School Instructor for American Airlines and I was also a non-Christian. I was appalled by the events and hated the perpetrators and those that sent them. Five months ago I became a Christian and no longer hate anyone.
Three things are apparent to me. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, we are all responsible for our actions, and we all have choices. What we do will determine where we spend eternity. Incredible video. Thank you Steve!

We have a real enemy and it's not another nation. God still lives to bring each one to Himself and He will use whatever He can to reach you. It is NOT proselytizing to voice your beliefs - look it up! Proselytizing is when you try to CONVERT others. I didn't hear anything like that. Whether you believe what Peter believes or not, - he has the RIGHT to attribute his experience to whatever he believes.

This is ridiculous. Your interventions god sacrificed Tom and 2,976 additional lives so you could serve him? This event also directly lead to the deaths of over 8,000, and counting, innocent Afghans as well. Your perceived god had nothing to do with you not making that flight. You're here because Tom took the flight due to seniority. It cost him his life but all of these actions were caused by each individual. You escaped this chain of events, Tom didn't, an imaginary man doesn't figure in.
@iixdotbe - if you read the post by Bolsterde (13 hours earlier than yours) you'll understand that anyone who has been in the military or any occupation where you take risks every time you report for duty KNOWS what it feels like when someone else takes your place, when you trade shifts, when you are the only survivor...We are all here for a reason, but some of us KNOW we've been spared for a purpose.

What a great and important testamony Mr. Scheibner. I am a Navy Aircrew veteran with over 10,000 hours in the SH-34 and SH-3 and understand the feeling of coming back to safely land when 4 other crew members died in the same flight. Only someone with a pencil in hand put me into the helo that came back. Peter Scheibner's experience is so much more powerful and I can only pray that my life can still be used for our Lord's glory as his has. I made a decision to come back to His church on 9-12-2001

What a powerful story, Peter! Sept. 11th is a heartwrenching day for us, too. Our daughter is an American Airlines flight attendant, and on that day we knew she was working a flight out of Boston to LAX and was leaving early in the morning. It was several pain filled hours until she was able to contact us to let us know she was OK in Dallas. We know God spared YOU and our daughter AMY, too for His purpose.

Toes 1444 continued - With my decision to work KP the rest of the Platoon agued about who would walk point. A friend of mine (Rodgers) said he would take my spot if he could carry my weapon (M-49 grenade launcher). The patrol left he hill, entered a patch of jungle, Rodgers was blown to pieces from a comand detonated 155 artilary shell. Rodgers died in my place and I have carried that with me for 43 years. The only way I have been able to deal with this is knowing God had another purpose for me

Dear Steve: 43 years ago the Vietnam 1968 Tet offensive was in full swing and our company sat on a hill watching the Viet Cong blow up the city/base of Bien Hoa in the far distance. We were getting ready to send out our first patrol in 3 days. I always walked point (first one out front). What a powerful story. As we come to the end of the christian church age we will see and hear more about people that God has placed in specific places.
Good and evil is in a spiritual battle for our souls. We know good will win out.
I also heard of a Christian flight attendance that was on one of those planes. His wife said he wanted to be where he could do the most good to lead others to Jesus.
God will put us in places where we will have the opportunity to serve him and glorify the Father.

I am surprised it took so long for him to become curious about what flight it was that day, and wonder if he maybe knew the pilot.
I used to work for AA and even I wondered if I knew the flight or any of the people the moment i heard it was an AA plane.
But it is a very inspirational video, not trying to take anything away from the meaning of it, just that struck me as strange for him to take so long to become curious about that.

I absolutely adore "In My Seat..." Vid, I found myself watching it while taking a note of Steve Sheibner's various golden quotes in it. I am convert from Islam. I strangely was baptised In Christ on Aug 28 2001, approximately 2 weeks b4 the WTC attack. And Steve, as a being, is a genuine representative of the Heart and Soul of the USA and what it's about. Though Sophisticated, and Xtremely capable, yet still humble and willing to submit to the Authority of Christ. This is why I LOVE the USA.

God Bless you @peterscheibner and all the lives lost that tragic day. I grew up in Bergen County, NJ and lost many close friends who worked at the WTC. I was in 5th grade at the time and I can still vividly remember the day minute by minute. (I'm 21 now)

Thanks for the video, I also had the same type of experience in the Navy. I was a radio operator on P3's with VP 31 out of Moffett Field in California. I had traded flights with another shipmate. The flight crashed doing touch and go's and everyone was lost. When I showed up for preflight everyone thought I was a ghost, my name had never been taken off of the flight sheet in operations. To this day I still feel like I'm also on borrowed time. Thanks again for posting.... God Bless

If He were, He would have preventing the manifold sequence of events that lead up to that day. WOW! What a testimony! We never know when our time will be up. This reminds me of 2 brothers behind the badge were murdered on 07/26/2009. One of them was not even on duty that day but as was usual for him, he was out on his on time working on drug cases and went to assist the other deputy serve a warrant. Neither of them certainly entertained the idea this would be there last call. It can be anyone, at any time. Thank God he has made a way for us to all be ready for that time, and know.

They do not intentionally target civilians while the Arabs do deliberately target civilians. They do not start things; Hamas and the PA/Fatah start things to which Israel responds.

But in the meantime, what a wonderful story and testimony of Christ's love and mercy that He sheds on the ones who know Him personally. This is very touching. For the life of me, I will never understand the level of hate and evil that resided in those men who took control of those planes and killed people in the planes and then flew them into the buildings and grounds killing so many more. I guess their mindset is so different from Americans who value life, love, family, faith and so much more that the people who sent them will never understand.

An earlier poster could not understand why a loving God could let tragedies happen. Forced love is an oxymoron. Further, God gave us the POWER to tell him to go jump in the lake. Examples? Before creation the Devil left Heaven. After creation Adam and Eve. Jesus in Luke 13:34 is sorrowing for Jerusalem, however he concludes with, “but you were not willing.” With willing people like you Peter, God can and does use people and even bad incidents to further his Kingdom. You came to Harvest Church today, in Billings Montana. Your story touched so many peoples hearts, and I saw so many people around me cry. I was in teh front row, just watching what could have happend to Steve. I heard everythign you said, about the teacher and about your goal to have God tell you, "Well done, my good and faithful servant" And I do believe that will happen. Thank you for sharing your story. My Dad and family also from Georgetown Maine and Dad flew out of BNAS in Brunswick back in the late 50's, also the same type of aircraft. I knew both of these pilots very well. Both were the model officer and reflected the values our country strives for in our country's leaders. I served with both in separate squadrons. This story is very well done. This causes me to reflect why I was able to walk away from the Pentagon on 9/11 as my office burned and eventually collapsed that morning while others did not.

@MrChkA It is all about someone else dies in your place. Christ died in our place, 2000 years ago, for our sins.
Jesus Died for you and me, and He would have, even if we were the only ones who needed a sacrifice. This gentleman was saying that the other pilot died in his place on that plane, that he was the second one to die for him. The pilot didn't die for his sins as a sacrifice. The pilot was simply there instead of him. (I hope this helps you understand.)

@MrChkA God requires a payment for sin that no *human* can ever pay (Romans 6:23). Jesus Christ,God's Son, paid that debt by dying on the cross in my place and in your place. Anyone can have forgiveness for the debt of their sin by believing that Christ died in their place and trusting that Christ will forgive their sin.

On September 11, 2001 I was a 727 Ground School Instructor for American Airlines and I was also a non-Christian. I was appalled by the events and hated the perpetrators and those that sent them. Five months ago I became a Christian and no longer hate anyone.
Three things are apparent to me. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, we are all responsible for our actions, and we all have choices. What we do will determine where we spend eternity. Incredible video. Thank you Steve!

...My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones on that day. But my heart aches even more that the value of those lives aren't lost in the media clamor of "terrorism". We have a real enemy and it's not another nation. God still lives to bring each one to Himself and He will use whatever He can to reach you. It is NOT proselytizing to voice your beliefs - look it up! Proselytizing is when you try to CONVERT others. I didn't hear anything like that. This is ridiculous. Your interventions god sacrificed Tom and 2,976 additional lives so you could serve him? This event also directly lead to the deaths of over 8,000, and counting, innocent Afghans as well. Your perceived god had nothing to do with you not making that flight. You're here because Tom took the flight due to seniority. It cost him his life but all of these actions were caused by each individual. You escaped this chain of events, Tom didn't, an imaginary man doesn't figure in.

What a great and important testamony Mr. Scheibner. I am a Navy Aircrew veteran with over 10,000 hours in the SH-34 and SH-3 and understand the feeling of coming back to safely land when 4 other crew members died in the same flight. Only someone with a pencil in hand put me into the helo that came back. Peter Scheibner's experience is so much more powerful and I can only pray that my life can still be used for our Lord's glory as his has. I made a decision to come back to His church on 9-12-2001

This is a wonderful video Steve. Very moving. That it confirmed his purpose in life is great. He wasn't supposed to be in that seat, that is why he wasn't. Tom was where he was supposed to be just as Peter was.

What a powerful story, Peter! Sept. 11th is a heartwrenching day for us, too. Our daughter is an American Airlines flight attendant, and on that day we knew she was working a flight out of Boston to LAX and was leaving early in the morning. It was several pain filled hours until she was able to contact us to let us know she was OK in Dallas. We know God spared YOU and our daughter AMY, too for His purpose.

Thank you so much sharing your testimony. There are so many reactions you could have had from this experience, but you are choosing to press toward the mark. I needed this. Not only as a reminder of the events of 9/11, but as a reminder of our Lord's soon return and our purpose here on earth.
