I've finally gotten a 3-D Blu-Ray player along with a top of the line 55 inch 3-D Sony Bravia LED and a killer surround sound system, guess which movie is first on my list? But I'm thinking about waiting for the eventual 3-D Blu-Ray set, (or not) I really really really want to get Star Wars on Blu-Ray like yesterday.

Here's the deal regarding myself in the Star Wars Blu-Ray Collection: I originally said I WOULD NOT buy it because of the changes Lucas made to the original trilogy. I was only planning to buy the Prequel Trilogy Blu-Ray, but I ultimately decided to pick up the whole collection after all, because want all the Deleted and Extended Scenes and they're only on the whole collection. So I will buy it, but Lucas had better get his head out of his ass, and release the original trilogy UN-EDITED one day.

hey here's a novel idea: the movies are still great. i know we like to think they're our movies because we grew up with them and love them so much. but it's george's intellectual property at the end of the day. it's his art. his magnum opus. if he feels that compelled to go back and change such minor things as what he changed, then we should just accept it. do i like vader's whiny "noo" cry? not at all, but i think we should just live with his vision of his project.

I was tempted to buy the original trilogy on Bluray...but look, I'm okay with some fancy CGI thrown in here and there, I accept changes that are at least logical like Vader's communication with Palpatine in Empire, and I can even stomach Greedo shooting first, stupid as it is. But that "NOOOO" scene in Jedi is unforgivable. I'm sorry, but that absolutely ruins it for me. I thought it was a Youtube joke when I first saw it.

Watching A New Hope Right Now and was hoping for it to be awesome but I am finding so far I'm not sure I like it. Yes it's more clear, you can see more scuff marks on vader and stormtrooper helmets and in scenes, but I find the overall 'feel' of the movie has changed...and the music sounds like it's been re-matsered but it's too up front, it almost drowns out the dialogue and it almost seems like it is out of sync a milisecond with the dialogue which is one of the first things I noticed.

Back then, the story, the characters, the visual effects were astounding and unheard of. If you watch A New Hope now, you won't love it as much as you did back then.

So, you should start with The Phantom Menace, to make more sense of the whole saga.

So, if you want to make a lot more sense out of all the films, watch The Phantom Menace first and go in order. The magic is long gone from the original because it was a different time when it released.

and imo they could have remade all space sequences in cgi, i don't care if people start whining about that. i just think its kind of disturbing to have one shot of the deathstar battle look really neat and up to date and the next moment its just totally obvious that its models being used for the ships. i know back in 1977 it looked really great but its 2011 and GL is doing all these changes to make all films more in tune as a whole saga so he should have worked on the more obvious signs of age.

@Daymon74 are you trying to say the bluray saga is meant for people who loved the original movies without all the changes from the special edition? if you are then you're wrong because it has han shooting second, cgi Jabba in ANH and Hayden Christensen in ROTJ. with even more subtle changes to the 2004 dvd version. the complete bluray saga was meant as an improvement to the dvds but the changes done, seem unnecessary compared to other flaws present that were not taken care of.

Also we can dispell the myths being spread by haters stating the quality is crap or whatever. These blu-rays look better than most of mine. The sound was rerecorded for some stuff on this for the OT from source tapes and redone. Ohhh the sound! Epi IV opening battle! Pod racing! Seismic charges!! TESB Falcon vs TIE fighter scenes!! RITJ space battle!! Fantastic quality, episode I and ROTJ lost their digital noise look too that they have on the basic dvds and now look prestine.

The changes don't effect the movies at all. Special effects aren't changing what really matters: THE STORYLINE. If you're going to hate on Star Wars, just because of a little CGI or something, then you're definately not a fan. Now if Lucas completely remade the saga into "Yoda trying to become like his old master, Darth Vader" then yeah, you should be angry. But you shouldn't be mad at some CGI changes, even if they were unneeded.
