  • His name was John Drake...

  • Patrick McGoohan - the most English of Americans.

  • Mcgoohan would have made a great James Bond.

  • @movement26 He was one of the original choices but he objected to the sex scenes and put forward fellow Hell Drivers actor Sean Connery.

  • @morphlet999 I heard Connery was picked because of his performance in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, I guess he was suggested by McGoohan and the producers watched the movie?

  • @GrimmShadowsII Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was made six years after Dr No and Connery wasn't in it.

  • Drummers!! Is that the snare coming on the 4th beat of the bar followed by the next bar on the 3rd beat?

  • Brilliant

  • what a man, I so had the hots for him when i was a kid, he was unique!!!x

  • Assassins eyes

  • mcgoohan no a fecking ad

  • McGoohan was a genuinely mercurial and menacing character in equal measures. What a bloody star!!!

  • Strange that the guy killed in the clip(Peter Arne) as murdered in real life.

  • @tarquin45 Thanks for the info` .. just looked him up, I didn`t this. x

  • @tarquin45 They fished the guy who killed him out of the Thames.

  • ...Forever...Forever in our hearts...

  • This is the theme to the hour long version. The theme to the original half hour version was quite different, and IMHO, better.

  • 2009 prisoner failed because there was no Mcgoohan!

  • @jaykthepikachu ...and because it was shit... ;-)

  • Patrick McGohan was the best...

  • such a cool damn title, isnt it?... DANGER MAN...

needs to be brought back in a 21st century version, like Dr. Who.

  • @hcvang

Not brought back with a new version made of it, just have the original series re-run.

  • @JohnnyDFox nah, we can get that on DVD, right? A new version would ensure the show survives well into this century without being remembered as an heirloom of the 60s...

'sides.. theres no real money in re-runs. no work for actors, writers, musicians, directors, etc.

  • @hcvang

It's an old song I sing here but I doubt a modern version of Danger Man could be as good as the original. I wouldn't be against a new good modern TV series, though, but I just don't see Danger Man happening again.

The great thing about re-runs is that you don't have to pay writers actors and directors then, they've all been paid already years ago. An entire television series that requires no money to produce that the people from this generation haven't seen before, why keep it hidden?

  • @hcvang Actually, reruns give money to the guy who wrote the theme song (which is rather appropriate for this video, don't you think?). Seriously, Robert Altman had his teenaged son help write the MASH song because the kid wanted to buy a guitar, and thanks to the TV show the he's made more money off of MASH than his father. Also set for life: the guy who wrote the Cheers song.

  • @thevampirefrog06 So the guy who did the theme song gets paid every time it airs. That's not what I'm talking about.

The network airing it doesn't get more than what they can sell advertising space for, and that's not a lot on an ancient show with small viewership. Nor does the owners of the show get an awful lot for the licensing of it to the network.

A new show gets the money machine rolling again... shows, music, licensing, books, toys, etc. Theme song? pffff!

  • When I saw Inception I thought Tom Hardy could play John Drake or Number 6. He has great mannerisms like Patrick MacGoohan had.

  • Mr McGoohan you are missed sir.RIP.

  • Somebody mentioned Johnny Depp? I don't think so.

  • This isn't the original theme.

  • @us71 It is the theme from the second season. The first season had an verbal introduction, as did the Avengers when it came to America BTW. Sort of setting the stage.

"Secret Angent Man" was the theme used when the show came to America.

  • johnny depp is the man who could play John Drake updated!

  • John Drake was the man!

  • Mc gohan, what an actor !

  • this was a great series watched it all the time. like the st. saint simon templer avengers

  • The show was stilled called Danger Man for the hour long shows in England. The American copies of the DVDs have the English openings and closings with the episodes and Johnny Rivers "Secret Agent" theme opening as an extra.

  • Danger Man was a half hour show that became Secret Agent when it expanded to an hour. Secret Agent Man was only the name of the theme, that was added when it started being shown in the U.S.

  • I always thought this was the INTROo theme to Secret Agent Man!?

  • @JasonBNYC secret agent man is the name of this show in america

  • The one & only secret agent. should be re-screened and also brought up to date, but who could play John Drake in 2010

  • @Burdetski nobody could, Patrick McGoohan IS John Drake, you can't try and recreate what he did in the 60's he's just such a good actor :)

  • ive never forgot this music.

  • if i was th producer for doctor who back when tom baker left the role i would have cast patrick mcgoohan as the fith doctor instead of peter davidson.

  • @doctorw2

The BBC could not afford him McGoohan was the highest paid actor in television at the time

  • @bobjea listen if i was producer for doctor who back then i would have solicited for finacial backing from private sources to get mcgoohan on doctor who.

  • Such economy in production, such thrift in all means of expression. They could truly CREATE those days -- meaning to make something much more out of very little. We have CGI now and we can technically put everything we imagine onscreen but our creativity had plunged. Those television days are gone forever.

  • this show is simply pure gold they dont make stars like these r, i ,p

  • 0:40 this clip is from an episode I saw which was very much like The prisoner in that they are taken to a place like the villiage. It's the only episode I have seen but cant remember which one it is sorry.

  • @KingFunksAlot

    Colony three

  • @bobjea

Yes of course thanks, it was my first and only Dangerman episode will get the entire series on DVD at some point saw some more clips online and it looks cool

  • For the original version go to

    watch?v=2Wwm2_JJLYY&feature=related

  • @borisgoodenough1988 "The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove"

  • rest in peace Patrick McGoohan

    from the Philippines

  • I wish they had the theme from the first season.

It sounds like Ron Grainer. or Laurie Johnson.

  • interesting fact. the man he fights with on the train is the actor peter arne who was murdered in real life in the early 1980s.

  • Fanstatic Guy great Show McGoohan a Genius ,but a lot of credit must go to Lew Grade!!

  • What a treat... I first heard this music under the "episode" (as opposed to "series") credits for its successor series, "Secret Agent," and knew that it had to be a theme for some British version of that show... I was close... I love Johnny Rivers singing "Secret Agent Man," but this is 'way cooler.

  • Hey, That villian in that English show played " Mannix" a 70s detective show, Mike Connors.

  • @jivesublime

    Nope; just a lookalike.

  • @jivesublime DAMN! That was Mannix! I never saw that before. You've gotta good eye, and thanks. BTW, P McG was the shit! He was awesome! Supposed to be James Bond but Sean got picked as second choice. Who knows how that woulda turned out. Anyhoo, Sir Sean did turn out as the BEST Bond ever, but P McG is immortal!

  • fancy a brew!?

  • @PeterZeeke - that went over everyone's head didn't it!!? I downloaded this to my ipod as my old Mark and Lard graveyard shift C90s were getting more than abit worn. Very happy memories of one of the greatest radio shows to grace the airwaves......

  • @Rich27014

lol, didnt it just. It really was the greatest

  • Blinding!!! Thanks for posting. Thank the lord for You Tube where we can re-live our childhoods occassionally....

  • Sounds more like the Munsters !

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • Awesomesauce! This theme rocks.

Would like to see a new series of Danger Man, preferably with a classy English guy (NOT Jim Caviezel please).

  • This is pretty good *cover* of Edwin Astley's CLASSIC **Secret Agent** theme! As an aside, McGoohan was offtered the role of James Bond, but declined, suggesting instead his acquaintance, Sean Connery...The rest is, of course, history!

  • Well done.

  • Thats a cool version of the theme, thanks for sharing!

  • McGoohan and this fantastic theme were only two the things that made this austere little series so good to watch.

  • McGoohan was a frakking genius. RIP.

  • @ProjectFlashlight612 He was an Irishman, laddie. Of course he was a genius.

  • @ProjectFlashlight612 He was a lot like Orson Welles. His best work was Secret Agent Man and The Prisoner, done when he was relatively young. The last 30-40 years of his life? I guess Jimmy Page could fall into that category too!

  • I believe the guy in this clip on the train was murdered in real life. Peter Arne was his name.

  • yes your right.hed been for a rehearsal for appearing in doctor who.although no one knows exactly what happend,a homeless student, who peter arne had befriended was later found drowned in a river believed to be suicide.he had blood on his clothes.

  • This isn't the version in the series, but it's pretty cool! Where's it from?

  • God left his earthly vessel this January.

  • You dont mess with McGoohan!
