  • Dude, did u use the word "mos" in this video?! I love when ppl mix Eng & Afrikaans with Xhosa! I don't know any Xhosa yet, apart from what little snippets I've learned from ur other channel. Would love to learn it properly when I get back to SA. Maximum respect -- white South African chick from UK

  • made me laugh bru, well done!

  • uthetha Xhosa

  • How do I say maximum respect in Xhosa lol!!!!!!

  • It is unfortunate to see Africans forgeting their native languages and taking on European languages wholesale even abandonning their beautiful African names for Europeans, very sad indeed!

  • i love my language...when i speak xhosa itz not so uptight itz really fluent

  • awe wandicingisa emva...ubuya nini e eastern cape

  • This was uploaded on my birthday! Yay!

  • today i watched a video in which an american celebrity expresses an interest in learning an african click language. this led me to you and i'm quickly tearing thru everything you have to say about (and in) khosa so far. how do you say "these are wonderful videos" in khosa? how do you say " i am glad you're here"?

  • This is isiXhosa u dumbo

  • There is clicks you fucking retard.

  • Idiot, It's XHOSA. You're retarded.

  • Hey where are you from?

  • South Africa.

  • What a beautiful, beautiful language. I have synesthesia and that was just amazing. Like rust caramel velvet.

Yeah. Hard to explain, but still. Awesome.

  • You have definitely used difficult words, I heard the 'click' in "what's happening Youtube?" and again "I'm used to speaking a lot more English".

    :D

This is awesome. I suppose this language is one of the least likely I would have exposure to. Tell us about the grammar! Is it like "Subject verb noun"? (Boy catches ball)

  • beware french mercernaries on the way to help distress white folks !we will restore order

  • You are a sad, pathetic soul my dear.

  • lol you know Khaya i never fully understand why ppl would make clicking noise as a joke when i said i was Nigerian-American and i would feel very offended without knowing why i just knew it was supposed to be an insult ..until now? so this is supposed to be insulting?? because your language is absolutely beautiful..and i love you!

    cheers from New York :-)

  • This video makes me a happy happy linguist. *glee!!*

  • I think African languages are so expressive. A fantastic sound... Afrikaans doesn't sound too great but it makes up for it in it's expressions.

  • afrikaans is a germanic language u stupid twat

  • It's origins are germanic but it's not spoken anywhere else beside SA. Many Black people speak it as a 1st language. So one could say it's African.

    Your a fucking ignorant ass.

  • am i a fucking ignorant ass then. afrikaans is a dialect of dutch (im dutch) it was brought to sa by the dutch . and its spoken in namibia aswel

  • Man you seriously need to relax. Smoke some of your countries green stuff.

    Weirdo

  • how do u know i was angry when i writt it?

i in fact was very relaxed

  • Becasue you swear and call me a "stupid twat". You don't even know me buddy. You are seriously uptight better have those haemorrhoids seen to.

  • thats typical american,"he swore at me :'(" just bcoz i swear it dont mean im angry u nitwit

  • I'm not American pal. Nver even been there- I'm from South Africa.

I just dont go around calling people I dont know twat- whether I agree with them or not. Believe me I'm over it.

  • lol, stupid poes dutchy.

  • Cool bru - I miss hearing the sound of SA!

Next video in Afrikaans or Zulu!!

  • wow! thats awesome! I wish i could speak that! haha :D

  • Khayav, na asu asusu ndi Koosa nke Southafirika.

Translation:Khayav is speaking Xhosa language of Southafrica.

    Mmadu ga atabi kwa ire.

One might bite his tongue if attempting to speak it.

    Khayav, Kachfo

    Good night.

NOW THIS IS WHAT AN AFRICAN VIDEO SHOULD SOUND LIKE.

    Yours truely:

    Mr. Ama Kwerekwere.

    U.K

  • Aaah! Sounds so awesome!

  • Ndiyathanda isiXhosa ne ndiyakhuluma isiXhosa elisihle!

Bonke amacofu amahle ne amagama amahle

Mna thanda bonke olwimi omzantsi Afrika

    Sala kakuhle wena umhlobo

  • Every video you make makes me fall more in love with you.

  • Question: Do you think in Xhosa or English?

  • you dont think ur language

  • Yes you do

  • Those clicks are cool lol,i've spent 5 mintues trying to do em'.lol.

  • Woooo Teach me some!

  • that was fun! you should do more videos speaking Xhosa!

  • Are you serious? I never know with you o.O The clicks are cool though.

  • I like the clicking noises

  • Is that the language they spoke in the movie "the Gods must be crazy"?

  • no, I think they spoke khoisan in that movie (the language of the kalahari bushmen??? I MIGHT BE WRONG )

  • Whenever you forget the words, just ask you friend Kleklaklaklambueleh!

    He probably know xhosa better...

  • does Xhosa have any vocal simmilarities to Zulu or any other S.A Language? im talking of simmilarities like a portuguese speaker would have to a spanish one and such.

  • Xhosa has similarities to Zulu and other Nguni SA languages..they use x,z,v whereas in my mother tongue Pedi, falling under Sotho languages, they dont't exist. So no clicking!

  • that was fuckin awesome. sounds like... like an african! hahaha its cool how you mix it, do you speak to other africans and mix it up... they wont understand you =]

  • I don't know about other Africans..but South Africans will understand. Xhosa is one of the eleven South African official languages. Most SAfricans I know speak at least 5 to 6 of the languages (not dialects).

  • Cool!! What are those clicking noices? Are they part of the language or are you just snapping your fingers?

  • Sign launguage would be so cool in Xhosa! You just snap your fingers and smile. :)

  • You made a video a while ago telling us how to say some stuff... kuqhubeka ntoni (may have spelt that wrong) etc... I remember it because I made a video response with it in! Ndiyabulela ;)

  • I liked this

  • That was kool

  • LOL. Wow, amazing language! Very cool vid; something different indeed. :)

  • I can speak some shona..I've always wanted to learn Xhosa. Can I have a private lesson??

  • Sounds GREAT :) Is there a TONGUE-click involved with a few of those words?! Yes, pls. I would like to TRY to learn how to say HELLO & GOODBYE in Xhosa!

  • molo khaya! le video egrand! diya thanda. haha...ok, thats as much xhosa i can write!! not sure if all the spelling is right!

  • This is great! That language sounds so cool. I'd love to learn it :)

  • Finally! :) I have been waiting for this. You use English more frequently than Xhosa it seems, but you also have contacts with whom you exclusively speak Xhosa in private?

  • Hahaha. Brilliant.

It's funny, because I opened and before it even loaded and I knew what it was, I thought "You know, I wonder if this contains that cool clicking noise.." It did! =P

  • teach me!!!

  • that's sawesome!

  • I love all languages!! <3

  • haha too funny i hear the Bantu similarities that are shared with Swahili!! although they are the same sounds they make no sense in this context haha. nice to see you come back to your roots though K. Give them more of it. you have a good opportunity (a good following) to educate the west on more then just video games and baseball!!! they need cultural lessons!!

  • You sound like Starvin' Marvin from SouthPark!

  • Very Sexy..

  • That sounded awesome! I love different languages. It reminded me of when my little brother was teaching me how to say an african name with a "click" in it. It is hard haha. A man from Africa came to his school to teach them about his culture. I hope to go to Africa at the end of this year ;)

  • haha wow i love that clicking!! i try and i try but i can't do it! :-) all i can do is clip-clopping horse footsteps, but that's different

  • man that language really fit you specially when you made that special effect close to the end, unbelievable. From now on, make all your videos just like this, very amusing

    THANK YOU!!!

I apreciate and respect different languages!!!

    Thank you again!!!

    5 BIG BIG stars!!!!

  • That was wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing! :D :D :D :D

  • cool!

  • Pretty interesting! It sounded like there were different types of clicks/pops. And there aren't as many of them as I remember... You were going for long stretches without a single click.

  • Simply great, Khayav

  • That was really cool.

  • One word. "AWSOME"!!!

  • cool dude.

  • OH HEY!!!! i sent u a message requesting u do this,....AND YOU DID!!! hehehe, thanks then

  • Cool! You should start doing a word for the day/week in Xhosa.

  • lol :D im so glad i found you on youtube =]

  • very awesome!

are the clicks very important to the meaning of the word or is it mostly traditional?

  • They are important to the meaning of the words. Without them the words become meaningless.

  • this is so cool!!!

there are clicks in your talking!

    hella cool

  • Lovin it. Even in New York City you don't hear languages like that. (Except when Nicole Kidman is working at the UN)

  • You got CLICKS in your language!!! :)))) What can be cooler than that??? :)) :D

  • thats a really beautiful language :P clicky clicky!

  • I just realized what the tones I thought to be you snapping your fingers are actually done with the tongue! Very rhythmic language

  • That was so cool! I'm a linguist.

And I know how to do the clicks thanks to you, Khaya, with the tongue-twister video!:D

  • Are the sounds you make with your hands part of the language?

  • Wow...that was really cool!

  • "havent used any difficult words" hmm, that clicking thing is a bit challenging for me.

  • Very cool. I love the ending :)

  • I'll have to watch it again to see what the ending was. lol

  • the ending was really effed up but it was crazy.. you get this "Devil's advocate" style look on your face hahahaha.

  • Favorited.
