Wow! but really that's how fricken paranoid the post office makes you if you miss picking up a letter! I think the post office made this poor guy act this way!
He should just put the mail in the mailbox at once and handcuff himself to a nearby pole and live the anxiety and do that for several times until he doesn't feel anxious anymore. there is no any other solution to beat that shit !!!
Zolpidem (Ambien) hey. i am an ocd patient too...suffering one hell of anxiety. obsessins compulsions....there is a medicion Zolpidem (Ambien)..it called zolpidem in my country..its salt is ambien..for my brothers and sisters who are in various countries...it really relaxes and normalises u for some time...no medicine works for me like this..please try this..its an ordinary medicine for anxiety and sleeping but it really works...for those who need further help email me @ahmedjaved_45@yahoo.com
@AnotherGeneric I do have my own rituals, every night when I am already in bed I have to switch the light off, then on and then off again. And this is still the best case. Because sometimes I feel like "I have to count to 5", then 7, 9 etc... I remember that I did it for 31 times in a row... I don't know why I am doing that, it is just like a great desire and you say to yourself that it will take only a second, so you don't have to matter. But when you do it for twentieth time, it does matter...
thats great that he will be able to keep his job. i have ocd as well. im not a mail carrier but when i drop off mail i do the same thing. i do it because i am afraid it wont make it to that person or it will drop on the ground and i wont know it instead of going into the slot. so i have to do it so many times
@cmbatwnded im on prozac and in therapy. it really does make it easier. :) glad to hear u were able to overcome this obstacle i have heard it is possible
I'm really interested in the OCD disorder. What is going through his head while he's doing this? Anyone with OCD that can explain? Is it more of a subconscious thing where you don't realize you're doing it, or you do it knowingly.
It's a type of ritual that one performs over and over again but can't quit it. Even if he tries to stop the ritual, there seems to be signals from the brain that tells him by not completing the ritual something bad will happen. Thus, he has to do it.
This isnt funny at all. I hope you never develop any form of OCD. The anxiety felt is frustrating. Its hard to relax and move on when you feel the door is unlocked for example and you have to keep twisting the doorknob even though youve already checked, or when you feel like the stove might be on even though youve already checked and tripled checked.
i've got ocd, this guy should find another job.... disrespectful to upload this video of him so people can make fun of him... ocd is horrible and the fact you laugh at 1:45 is disgusting... you deserve to have it you won't laugh then bitch
I don't have any experience with OCD, but after seeing this and thinking about it, it seems that the main element here is him not trusting himself. He knows he got all the mail and didn't leave any behind, or does he? He doesn't have faith that he's right, it seems to be about second guessing yourself.
Been there, Done it. Somebody stuck something sticky in the box. And there is mail stuck behind the flap. You have two choices. Bang the box until it drops, or stick your hand up behind the flap and take the chance of your wrist getting stuck and look like a real idiot. Personally I get in trouble for kicking the box until the letter drops.
THIS GUY MUST WORK IN STEUBEVILLE OHIO AND HIS SUPERVISOR IS TOM. TOM PROBABLY JUST GOT DONE TELLING HIM FOR THE 3RD TIME THIS MONTH THAT HE DOESNT WANT TO RUIN HIS LIFE BUT HE HAS THE AUTHORITY TO FIRE HIM WHENEVER HE WANTS IF HE DOESNT CARRY THAT 4 HOURS EXTRA AND DELIVER MAIL IN THE DARK TIL 7PM. LOL
That seriously is a brilliant idea...by acting/being OCD! ur work could never accuse you of overworking and being 1000% accurate!! i applaud this guy..his overtime must be sweeeeeet!!!! lol
There's nothing funny about a guy suffering through trying to do his job and coping with OCD. The little giggle by the camera dude is arrogant, insensitive and just down right mean. You need to get a life chappie.
About six years ago, we had a guy in our office that was hired as a TE who had OCD. It was a sad thing to watch him. He went through training fine and had passed the test with a high score. Hi just couldn't get away from his LLV without opening and closing the back lift door over and over. I went out to find him one day and he was in tears knowing he was running really late, and that his disease was causing him problems. He was let go, but everyone was sad for him, including our supervisors.
I have had OCD my entire life, and still find this video funny. People have gotten far too sensitive about everything. Learning to laugh about our problems can be a powerful coping mechanism; sitting around getting offended over a lighthearted YouTube video, not so much.
P.S. This mailman might not even have it- there might have been a problem with the mailbox that he was trying to fix, and/or the video might have been cleverly edited.
Hang onto a sense of humor, and a sense of skepticism.
I had it a little bad as a teenager too. But now when I get the feeling, I usually just think about what it is and ignore it. Usually. It's very weak now.
What happens is you get a feeling something bad will happen. The only way to stop the bad thing from happening is to do something a certain number of times. Once you start doing the thing a certain number of times, the feeling something bad will happen starts to go away... till finally its gone.
@RyanLeeParis I agree with that description. I had OCD when I was a teen but it gradually subsided to the point where it hardly ever bothers me anymore.

You pick u the mail from the boxes, and sometimes the inspectors are right behind you.You don't see them, they wear plain clothes, but they have keys to open the boxes. If they find a letter left behind, you get fired. I saw it happen many times.
Dear God!! He just keeps going! I mean... We all have our own little OCD's, but this guys life is fucked up!! Well... There could be another explanation... Maybe... Uhm... Well... Hm... I know! He was caught in a time rift! Yeah! See! Now I bet that you all feel bad for thinking that this man is OCD. Shame on all of you. lol
I work for usps. I find this vid halarious bc what I see here is a carrier with OCD that was probably made WORSE by getting into a little trouble one day by not checking the collection box correctly and BAM, OCD on the collection boxes.
Speaking as someone who does have OCD (not to this degree) I can see where some of this can be a bit funny. My family, friends and I laugh at things I do often. But this is sad, really. You're right about what you said to the side about not missing mail. Though it was meant to be funny, it's very true because these people pay fine attention to detail. This is a great video for educational purposes to make people aware of this kind of mental illness. It's all in how you view it folks!
OK, since you obviously have no life, and have enough time on your hands, why don't you go see how he handles the other mail boxes. It may very well be that the mail tub isnt sliding all the way back into the box, and therefore he cannot close it.
I don't know if its OK to laugh at this guy, but this video is real funny. Does he get overtime when he doesn't have enough time to finish his work on his shift? Hopefully, there are drugs to cure his behavior.
