Divine died the night before he was due to record a guest appearance ( as "UNCLE OTTO") on "MARRIED...WITH CHILDREN". His body was discovered by his manager Bernard Jay. Divine was in serious debt with tax, and in a creepy prophecy had declared only the previous mornining he would find his own way to escape his debts.

John Waters' films are delightfully bad. This talk show, on the other hand? Just plain BAD. Who is the guy, and why did anyone ever put him on tv? It's an injustice that someone like Divine would ever grace the same stage as him, or be seen on this terrible show.

Personally, if the only movie he ever made was "Female Trouble" he would still have been a runaway success among those people who matter. The fringe was his element. The fringe loved him in a sincere way that I don't think the mainstream ever could. I never tire of watching those movies that he *did* get to make. Especially the early ones.
