I've been baking this cake for a couple of years now and it has always been perfect! One other thing-I find that 300g creme fresh is perfect. Anymore and the frosting is way too sour. T

@oblongata1000 All ovens are off by a few degrees. Your oven is probably just higher than it needs to be. It's all a matter of getting to know your oven, so next time, just down the degrees nd check on it more often
Why does that surprise you? Americans are taught both systems of measurement in grade school. I, however, find the metric units for length to be a nuisance because a meter is too long for practical measurements, and centimeters too short for practical use, but in all honesty, I find the english system to be a bigger nuisance because of lack of logical sequencings between the measurements. I try to incorparate both systems in my everyday life. :p

Can somebody please tell me if there is a substitute for buttermilk? Can I just use normal pasteurised milk instead of buttermilk or will the pasteurised milk just spoil the taste?
And also, what is crème fraiche? And is there a substitute for it for will not affect the taste of the cake too much?

You dont have to use the coffee, its just a flavor thing. But just in case you didn't know, chocolate itself can have anywhere from 5mg to 20mg of caffeine, depending on how dark it is.

yeah i'm sure i am. I can tell you aren't. I don't get why you have to make fun of me just because of my religion. I'm not the only one here that's a mormon. i'm in utah. 99% of utah is mormon. out of america, let's just say WAY more than half. So who ever wants to make fun of mormons, go ahead! You dont have to use the coffee, its just a flavor thing. But just in case you didn't know, chocolate itself can have anywhere from 5mg to 20mg of caffeine, depending on how dark it is.
