  • This is one of the best and most powerful Poems ever written!

  • A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to visit Baltimore. It is the only time ever that I truly wanted to get drunk and walk around the bars of the old downtown and get lost and end up drunk and sleeping in the streets, just like my idol Poe. I walked around the streets looking for him mesmerized to the fact that I was probably tracing his steps. I ended up in a strip club, at the feet of a panamenian stripper until closing time. The day I die, I want it to be like Baltimore.

  • @KingDavid5934.HOW U kNOW HE SLEPT at street?

  • @faridjabba Well Poe was a notorious drunken lout so it's not that improbable.

  • 127 people saw the raven, nothing more.

  • I remember this from when I was in 8th grade. For some strange reason, I couldn't get "Quoth the Raven, Nevermore.", out of my head just now and had to look this up.

  • @Ofaliss1 I'm doing this for eighth grade :)

  • listen to this along with the moonlight sonata by beethoven its quite nice

  • Two mice, fell into a bucket a cream....They were shot six times, New york city...I mean Kansas.

So i wore your fathers watch up my ass for two years.

  • @TheDerekofohio that is an awesome comment. pure awesome.

  • Smart birdy. Caw caw.

  • Wonderful.

  • i love how he says napping.

  • My dick is slick as candle wick with wax all sweating

    I stroke my dick

    The wind is blowing

    My maid is whoring

Licking flicking her tongue's song sore.

Surely though oart craven, a bar maid brazen

Upon thy knees yee quicken the wick which is wiccan

Behing my locked and private chamber's door.

Will anyone EVER properly read POE?!!!

  • @skwiddjergensen I hope not do to that fact it would be like killing a god

  • @skwiddjergensen HAHAAHAHA

  • Walken is great. You should search on youtube: The Raven unofficial soundtrack by Kristen Lawrence. Simply amazing. Can't wait for the movie as well.

  • James Earl Jones fades this shit!!!! Treehouse One Nigga

  • that growing picture, it iritates

  • Much of madness and more of Sin, and horror the soul of the plot.

  • CHASE ME!

  • Children... Please... Scootch closer. Don't make me... Tell you again... About... The scooching...

  • ...I don't know if I want to laugh or cry.

  • Search for Raven + Weathers for a much better read than this.

  • 126 people got stabbed in the face with a soldering iron

  • @FamousEddieFortune

    Too funny :oD

  • Once again.... Emotionless stagnant reading of POE.

  • whats the theme of this poem

  • @Woupy111

Undying devotion, loss, regret, lament, grief, madness :o(

  • Thanks Dude.....

  • no offense but the slow zoom on the face is very distracting, i was watching that instead of reading

  • @blinkysd What was there to read. Cristopher Walken was doing it for you.

  • THIS WAS AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGG!

  • I'm scared ...

  • OMFG MY FAVORITE POEM (short story) READ BY MY FAVORITE ACTOR:D

  • @ryuholover Oh, so I suppose your grammar is spotless, is it not? I suppose, since you are the ruler of grammar, you suddenly have the right to engage in such a pointless occupation as being everyone's English teacher, yes? So, everyone should simply fall to your feet, begging for forgiveness for their minor grammatical errors then, according to you? You act as if you have never made any error of any kind in the whole of your life. Dream on, is what I say.

  • get rid of the guitar

  • i memorized this for my L+L class to try to get voten into our school's poetry slam...i lost to some girl doing the midnight tale of Paul Revere. i still did a good job though--at least i was able to memorize it.

  • Catch me if you can, little buyird

  • Watch at 0:13 this moron spelled "Allan" wrong....i see this alot, if you are too stupid to spell the artists name, than do not bother making a video about his work, it is disrespectful to the artist and I hope you are murdered and burn in hell.

  • @chessinfantry That's kind of extreme, especially when the maker of this video put an annotation to correct their mistake.

Also, I feel like you shouldn't be using "then" and "than" if you don't know which one to use.

    Hypocrite.

  • @ryuholover haha extreme? policing grammar on youtube is lame, and u have just been trolled whistledick, now go cry me a river

  • @chessinfantry Nice recovery, mate.

  • @chessinfantry Yes, extreme. Is that too hard for you to understand? It wouldn't surprise me.

I wasn't "policing" your grammar for the simple fact that it was wrong. I was "policing" it because you were being a hypocrite.

As for the trolling thing. . .

How old are you? Twelve? Seriously, grow up. It's no wonder why you'll never have friends in the real world.

  • @ryuholover oooooo im twelve huh? what are u gonna tell me next einstein, that i live in mommys basement? boooring.....did u find ur sense of humor in a concentration camp? try again whistledick

  • Magnum opus; here for evermore.

  • I expected the exorcist face to pop up at the end xD

  • Sark?

  • Hey IDK if you know this but it's Allan.

  • its the tell tale heart

  • someone please help!!!! okay so i heard this poem in my college class and ive also heard another one about how a man cannot stand the old mans eye, and thaat he doesnt have anything against the man, but the eye makes him crazy, and to get rid of it, he kills the old man and dismembers his body and hides it in the floor boards, what is it called?? please if you know tell me!!!!

  • @eliedwardlover The tell tale heart :)

  • @eliedwardlover The Tell-tale Heart

  • This reminds me of Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds

  • Quote the raven... Nevamoah

  • I am so wierd im 13 and I love edger allan poe nd hate justin bieber

  • @BFFbleachfansforever You aren't wierd. Edgar Allan Poe is awesome, and lots of people hate Justin Bieber.

  • @BFFbleachfansforever You are not weird, you are intelligent =D Keep it that way :)

  • @BFFbleachfansforever That's not weird. That's called being educated. lol

  • This is too freakin' perfect... wtf... why didn't I think of looking for this before.. It makes so much sense for some reason..

  • this is pretty good now have you ever heard a book as good as this i mean this sounds great i mean i so want to read about lady gagga and sing with tayler swift instead of meeting egar allen poe

  • Would love to hear dexter reading this. They should make a short 10 minute movie with dexter in it and reading it that would be some scary shit

  • Whaat? No! This is a good poem, and Christopher Walken is a good actor. But he is not the one for reading this. He is reading it like a conversation, not in iambics as it is suppose to be.

  • Christopher Walken Poetry Reading should be required in school

  • Fantastic. Doing an analysis of this narrative poem at school, English Literature. Looking forward to it.

  • excellent

  • it needs more COWBELL

  • @rockinjoker07 thats fucking funny lol

  • @rockinjoker07 I know where you can find 10 straight minutes of more cowbell!

  • Know what would have been scarier than nothing? ANYTHING!

  • Pretty good, but the Vincent Price reading is even better.

  • The Raven needs more cowbell.

  • @SubconsciousGatherer thats fucking funny lol :)

  • Why oh why do they add the disturbing background crap music.. :( Such excellent reading

  • Christopher Lee> Morgan Freeman>Walken

  • It'd be better if it was Morgan Freeman.

  • Never realized "dooah" rhymed so beautifully, nay mellifluously! with. nevermoah... a fine recital by the venerable Mr Walken. Had Edgar Allan Poe been born in Queens, NYC instead of Baltimore, he might have sounded like this!

  • my dying wife lenore

    at the grocery store

quoth the raven shut the door

  • Eh, the skipping in the audio kinda ruins it.

  • I want christopher walken to narrate my life.

  • i thought this would be some hysterical reading as usual. walken is amazing.

  • Nevermore.

  • Christopher Walken has an amazing voice for this poem, which I didn't think when I first imagined it. I'm used to him in comedy roles, so hearing this surprised me. This is honestly a good rendition of "The Raven", aside from the weird sound effects and guitar (: I can't be one to speak though, because even the reading by Vincent Price has cheesy sound effects. I've yet to find one without them ^-^'

  • Quoth the Raven: RAMIREZ!!! Save Sergeant Poe's Wife with your finger!

  • Quoth the raven: I am Dave!Yognaut

  • Hey. It's Allan.

  • I like how Omnia read it

  • Go to my page: Matej Krevs reading the begining of Ulalume

And listen to the hounting voice from middle Europe:)

  • I could listen almost forever the unreal, haunting poem by Edgar Allan Poe read by the ultimate actor with his almost shivering voice, Christopher Walken! Combined, it is scary!

  • The RAVEN is gonna get the fuck off my DOOR!!!

  • @galti111 Nevermore!

  • I love Christopher Walken but I'm not really digging this. I felt like his tempo should be, idk, slower or sth. And the guitar was awkard as heck

  • @Phlapjack115 ROFL L O L

  • Why don't they make a Edgar Allen Poe movie and cast Christopher Walken as the lead?

  • Ive Listened to this about 100 times on here, and here I am with my girl on halloween night listening to it again to fall asleep too.... perfect. BY THE WAY!!! LISTEN THE MOONLIGHT SONATA BY BEETHOVEN IT WILL DROWN OUT THE GUITAR!! trust me

  • the guitar fucking ruined it.

  • Love Christopher Walken but agree about the guitar. Very distracting.

  • The guitar sucks ._. breacks the atmosphere

  • Epic!!

  • One of the sexiest voices ever.

  • Christopher Walken = the real god.

  • very nice Walken does have a brilliant voice for this poem. The guitar was a little distracting though.

  • christ that guitar wrecks it

  • I hid your father's watch

    =

  • Quoth the raven, "Eat my shorts"

  • A nightclub for birds called "the raven"

  • Its Allan!!

  • beautiful! so purty

  • The guitar is distracting, but that was awesome

  • "The ravens move slow but they're MOVIN', Quinlan! Get caught up with that Raven and you'll be in for a lot of PAIN!"

  • optimus prime needs to read this

  • 2 ravens fall into a bucket of cream...

  • fucking creepy.

  • I'd love to hear it read by Alan rickman.

  • @MrBarry1024 I love seeing random things about Alan. He is the best actor ever;)

  • @MrBarry1024 Yes.

  • good. But Vincent Price's reading is still better.

  • 4:30

  • Damn, now I want some skittles! XD

  • "Only this, and nothing moer."

  • Quote the raven "Bob Saget"

  • And the secret to life is..... (*guitar solo.....)

  • Poe with a NYC accent. Chamber duwa.

  • Qouth the raven: "Eat my shorts"

  • @generosos87 ya that's because it is :)

  • yay

  • forever more.

  • Whats creepy is if you look at the poe picture long enough, it starts to look like its slowly coming towards you.

  • @generosos87 it does..

  • THIS IS NOT OVER! BEARS!!

  • Oysters & Pearls

  • Quote the raven: *guitar solo*

  • we want glenn beck!! we want glenn beck!! and for those of you who dont know what im talking about...listen to tell tale heart performed by glenn beck. its in 2 parts and is insane.

  • I can't believe no one hitted on him a diamond left untouched.

  • Quoth the raven, ''Hide the watch''.

  • The boy in The Dead Zone is reading this to Christopher Walken. Walken is playing a home teaching tutor.

  • .

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting

    On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;

And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon that is dreaming,

And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor,

And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor Shall be lifted -- nevermore!

    .

  • His voice really fits the fear and terror of the character.

  • oohh, forget this lost lenore!!!

  • Quote the raven: "More cowbell"

  • @cjackson013 Best part, that fits with the meter of the poem!

  • Trippy Poe imagery.....Even trippier Walken Delivery....Nevermore....Nevermore!

  • Christopher Walkin, the man who uttered the immortal hammy line, "This is not over! Bears!", is a complete badass... O__O

  • goosebumps when he says "never more"

  • Hey Raven......Jelly Donut, k?

  • good reading, the music in the background was a prob, though. Damned ravens are always smartass birrds. Poe loved opiates, I love beer, so, need one, see you

  • Scary

  • not sure the guitar is right for this

  • you do realize its Edgar Allan Poe

  • don't you remember his student reading this in 'THE DEAD ZONE"?

  • play this in a separate tab at the same time sounds weird

  • I just spent an hour listening to all these videos doing this poem: this one is by far the best.

I am a Vincent Price Fan and Walken blew him out of the water!

That there are no visual effects was a wise choice Poe's face and Walken's voice is well enough for this poem. Poe really was insane.

  • oh...just some stranger at the door...no biggy! oh oh and then no ones there??? riiiight! yea...no thats not a serial killer ;)lol

  • Quote the raven...nevermore

  • It's Allon.

  • @CatFlashBlue Allan.

  • "darkness there, and nothing more" *chills*

  • Poe used to listen to the Beatles Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band before it was released and this made him feel strange, strange indeed.

  • Is this REALLY Christopher Walken, or someone impersonating him?

  • @Pantherykitty I'm pretty sure it's him.

  • Quoth the Raven "Eat my shorts!"

  • @Pantherykitty I like that version better

  • nice guitar solo

  • the guitar ruined it
