A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to visit Baltimore. It is the only time ever that I truly wanted to get drunk and walk around the bars of the old downtown and get lost and end up drunk and sleeping in the streets, just like my idol Poe. I walked around the streets looking for him mesmerized to the fact that I was probably tracing his steps. I ended up in a strip club, at the feet of a panamenian stripper until closing time. The day I die, I want it to be like Baltimore.
I remember this from when I was in 8th grade. For some strange reason, I couldn't get "Quoth the Raven, Nevermore.", out of my head just now and had to look this up.
@ryuholover Oh, so I suppose your grammar is spotless, is it not? I suppose, since you are the ruler of grammar, you suddenly have the right to engage in such a pointless occupation as being everyone's English teacher, yes? So, everyone should simply fall to your feet, begging for forgiveness for their minor grammatical errors then, according to you? You act as if you have never made any error of any kind in the whole of your life. Dream on, is what I say.
i memorized this for my L+L class to try to get voten into our school's poetry slam...i lost to some girl doing the midnight tale of Paul Revere. i still did a good job though--at least i was able to memorize it.
Watch at 0:13 this moron spelled "Allan" wrong....i see this alot, if you are too stupid to spell the artists name, than do not bother making a video about his work, it is disrespectful to the artist and I hope you are murdered and burn in hell.
@ryuholover oooooo im twelve huh? what are u gonna tell me next einstein, that i live in mommys basement? boooring.....did u find ur sense of humor in a concentration camp? try again whistledick
someone please help!!!! okay so i heard this poem in my college class and ive also heard another one about how a man cannot stand the old mans eye, and thaat he doesnt have anything against the man, but the eye makes him crazy, and to get rid of it, he kills the old man and dismembers his body and hides it in the floor boards, what is it called?? please if you know tell me!!!!
this is pretty good now have you ever heard a book as good as this i mean this sounds great i mean i so want to read about lady gagga and sing with tayler swift instead of meeting egar allen poe
Whaat? No! This is a good poem, and Christopher Walken is a good actor. But he is not the one for reading this. He is reading it like a conversation, not in iambics as it is suppose to be.
Never realized "dooah" rhymed so beautifully, nay mellifluously! with. nevermoah... a fine recital by the venerable Mr Walken. Had Edgar Allan Poe been born in Queens, NYC instead of Baltimore, he might have sounded like this!
Christopher Walken has an amazing voice for this poem, which I didn't think when I first imagined it. I'm used to him in comedy roles, so hearing this surprised me. This is honestly a good rendition of "The Raven", aside from the weird sound effects and guitar (: I can't be one to speak though, because even the reading by Vincent Price has cheesy sound effects. I've yet to find one without them ^-^'
I could listen almost forever the unreal, haunting poem by Edgar Allan Poe read by the ultimate actor with his almost shivering voice, Christopher Walken! Combined, it is scary!
Ive Listened to this about 100 times on here, and here I am with my girl on halloween night listening to it again to fall asleep too.... perfect. BY THE WAY!!! LISTEN THE MOONLIGHT SONATA BY BEETHOVEN IT WILL DROWN OUT THE GUITAR!! trust me
Please view my version of this poem. I directed a short film depicting a man reading this poem at a church. Just click on my name and it will take you to it.

@chessinfantry That's kind of extreme, especially when the maker of this video put an annotation to correct their mistake.
Also, I feel like you shouldn't be using "then" and "than" if you don't know which one to use.
Hypocrite.

As for the trolling thing. . .

And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor,
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor Shall be lifted -- nevermore!
