  • Terfel me encanta hasta cuando se equivoca!!!!!!!!!

  • Excellent indeed one of my favorite songs this bring back memories my oh my...

  • I do believe Bryn isses his cue on the "Taci!" line at 3.40 (unless maybe the microphone was switched off)

  • @FootBoss He does...... He missed 'Taci! Il piangere...?' but knew exactly to pick it up......

  • taci --il piangere non vale.. ;)

  • Bryn Terfel........attenzione, entrare in tempo

  • THAT'S Entertainment!!

  • Wonderfull...

  • Me gustó.

  • What Duke would not leave his Gilda for such a stunning Maddalena?

But apart from that an excellent rendition of this famous Verdian page, in spite of Terfel's musical error.

  • here Alvarez only sings.

  • Fantastic!

  • Who is this tenor???? OH MY GOD!!!! He is handsome as hell, and what a voice!!! Denyce is just beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed this rendition, and I could listen to the tenor all night!

  • Marcelo Alvarez is his name!

  • yes

  • @htshoward His name is Marcelo Alvarez. He is a dream isn't he? I think he's from Argentina.

  • @htshoward His name is Marcelo Alvarez. He is a dream isn't he? I think he's from Argentina.

  • You're right -- he missed his entrance and caught up after a few beats.

  • my goodness - I stumbled on this vid by sheer accident. IT's the best recording of the quartet I've ever heard!!!! alvarez is excellent here

  • Stunning rendition. Thank you for posting.

  • chi dirige? un po'greve

  • I like this alot. Great stuff!!!!

  • Precioso....!!

  • not so good, just Marcello is good.

  • You kidding? The other three are just as good if not better! Judith Howard has a gorgeous, floaty soprano, Denyce Graves is not only vocally perfect, but totally believable as Maddalena (she's HOT) and Terfel is...well...Terfel. Rigoletto isn't his role, but seriously? This quartet is wonderful all around!

  • He is in uncharacteristically good voice, yes. The others are as good or better, particularly Graves.

Arturo Martin

  • Bravissimi :)

  • Very good.

But where is Rigoletto in the first "Taci, il piangere non vale?"

  • @Itaboy24 This role isn't part of his repertoire (he's a bass-baritone, Rigoletto a baritone), so I don't think it's so bad that he missed a cue considering that he learned this only for this concert. Terfel does that a lot (concert arias that he wouldn't usually sing and fucking up his cues in them :P)- for example the Count-Figaro duet with Rockwell Blake.

  • Wonderfully sung!

  • Best opera quartetto ever composed

  • Excelente !!!! Gracias Marcelissimo !!

  • Bravo !!!!1

  • Wow! This is really good! Definitely the best I've heard since Pavarotti and Sutherland.

  • Um.. I dropped my tear! (feel like Gilda)

    I love this quartetto :)

  • Bravi!!!!

  • Oops! Bryn missed his entrance; otherwise beautifully done.

  • the most beautiful rigoletto quartetto i ever heard. outstanding

marceli alvarez! such a beautiful voice!

  • esta muy bien U___U

  • Excelente!!! Grandioso!!! I love it!!! VERY WELL DONE!!!! Perfetto!!!

  • español ... english ... italiano jejje

  • Denyce Graves has a truly AMAZING voice!!!!

  • very well done i sang that same quartet in march for the first time its fun as tenor just loved the Bflat

  • I'm Jealous. I would to be able to sing at that level (actually I do, in the shower).

  • I'm glad to see that OPERA is alive and well in the 21st century. This group are the ages of my children. Hopefully the next generation will take up the burden.

  • opera is no burden. if anything it is one of the greatest pleasures in life

  • This is superb even tho' Bryn does miss his cue. Would love to see Denyce in the opera! Thanks for this

  • LOL... he sure does! And the look on his face when he does is priceless:o)

  • hi there...i like the sound of bryn terfel even thou i have my own baritone favourite...i think alvarez have done his job VERY WELL...but i think there is a part where either bryn terfel forgot his lyric or else...tnx for the wonderful clip

  • dencye is soooo hot!!!

  • I agree whole-heartedly

  • what are they singing?

  • They are singing a quartet from "Rigoletto", the scene where Rigoletto (the baritone on the left) shows his daughter Gilda (the soprano to his left) that the Duke (the tenor) is an unfaithful wretch, as he is trying to seduce Maddalena, the mezzo soprano on the far right. In the opera, the Duke and Maddelena are inside a tavern and Rigoletto and Gilda are outside, listening through a chink in the wall. These singers render it beautifully, IMO.

  • I am impressed with your synopsis, but even moreso with your writing ability. Wow.
