  • Bellísimo.

  • Superb!!! I love it.

  • Love the arrangement-any chance any of the choir could post a link to it as I'm trying hard to work it out by ear for my school special needs choir and I've got so far but not sure it's right. Phil

  • AWESOME!!!

    realy!

amazing song! & how you all sing ;)

  • Nice sound. : ) But someone keeps "sliding" up to her notes. : (

  • Really lovely.

  • Really Beautiful

  • That's great. You kick all boy choirs' asses.

  • Gorgeous, ladies. You did drop in pitch a little bit throughout the piece, however I forgive you :-) . Again, a beautiful rendition of a lovely (but sad) classic Christmas carol.

  • This works perfectly for a female choir, women can put so much more emotion into it than little boys. Beautiful

  • beautiful :')

  • @jennynicole89 well they are singing a different version than my choir i guess because my version says luly lulay thou little tiny child

  • its lu-lee luh-laaay

  • this is my favourite christmas carol! :) Beautifully sung!

  • @Orcobud i wouldn't consider this a "Christmas Carol"

Its a lullaby. A rather sad lullaby, actually.

It is about the king when he was in search of Baby Jesus. This is the song that mothers would sing to their children to pacify them as the king went across the land killing newborns in hopes that he would destroy Baby Jesus.

I sang this in choir once, and when I listened to it and learned the story behind it. Such a chilling, touching song.

  • @jennynicole89 Actually, despite the sad story it is a Christmas Carol. And a very popular one at that. The word 'Carol' dosen't always denote something happy or even pleasant. Herod plays a part in the Christmas Story, and this carol focuses in on that aspect: women mourning the loss of their baby sons, slaughtered by this cruel king. I have sang and conducted many different versions of this carol, and it is by far my favourite and that of every choir I worked with. It is indeed touching.

  • Flawless

  • That was dope.

  • nice harmony and really nice dynamics!

  • Oh my gosh, y'all are amazing. You should be on tour or something. Seriously, this blew me away.

  • Beautiful!

  • looooooooooooooooooooooove this

  • i'm singing this for my grade 2 sining exam!!

This is a really good version!

  • its nice to see that mercury got work after being a planet

  • @Drobilliard the only way i see that is as a negative comment. i guess i just don't understand why you would post something like that, especially after how beautifully these women sing.

  • @britelite2657 I wish I had seen this comment!

  • beautiful!

I still can't believe this is considered a Christmas carol, though

  • Great job. Traditional arrangement and the singing is spot on.

  • So far, this is my favorite rendition of this song available on youtube. A capella has always served this heartwrending carol the best, imo. You ladies do it a service. Thank you!

  • @istril thanks! Again, it still gives me coldshivers!!

  • I love Christmas time.

  • I'm sure you do, rootbeer.

    *shot*

  • Well this kind of christmas mucsic is awesome.

  • This was beautiful.Hope you are all still singing together. Thanks for posting! I am teaching my teenage granddaughter this as have used uTube as a guide. You've helped alot!

  • @gypsytutu That's awesome, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comments. The group is still singing together with the exception of myself, who moved off the island. Though I did hear them perform over the summer, and they actually amazed me.

  • Mmm, and good articulation and dynamics at the end :) Yum!

  • GORGEOUS ladies. A little rough entrance on Herod, but loved the passion. I adore this piece, and I always think it's best with just women. Good job staying together and keeping emotion with it too. Just great :)

  • Beautiful rendition, hearing this will help my barbershop choir Second City Sound to learn this song! :-)

  • Thanks so much for your great comments. I love this one too!

  • Everytime I listen to this, I hear something more beautiful that I missed. I love the harmony. And I too love the altos. Thanks again

  • @brandonichero Thanks so much!!

  • @brandonichero Thanks so much. It is still giving me goose bumps almost 4 years later!

  • This is beautiful. I wish I could sing.

  • Wow. Your sound is as full and hauntingly beautiful as even bigger groups. Just oustanding. Thanks for posting this for us to so enjoy

  • beautiful

  • this is awesome!!!

it makes me feel all warm on the inside

  • So beautiful! Do you have a CD? I love this carol so much, and you all sound awesome together.

  • omg, it's wonderfull, i'm crying. i love this song.

  • Thanks Everyone :)

  • I never get tired of hearing this song, it's beautiful. Wonderful performance :-)

  • Beautiful! I love this song.

  • It represents the fear in the people at the time of Jesus' birth at losing their own children.

  • Thanks for your comments :) Criticisms and praises, we are still in our infancy as a group really, and have come a long way!!

  • The "collateral damage" carol. Lovely. Heartwarming. Soul wrenching.

  • I love hearing this song it has some beautiful harmonies in it.

I know it's a womens group but for me it's not the same without the bass part in it.

  • our ochrestra played this at our crhistmas concert, i like the way it goes. nice tune. and yes they are awesome.

  • My choir sings this song boys and girls together it is so beautiful i love this song but its sad!

  • the boys choir at my school are doing this && they were really good at it, even though they're small. (:

  • The altos are amazing

  • this song is so sad, whenever our choir sings it, we cry. acabella has an awsome metzzo

  • Beautifully sung.

  • my choir is doing this song too.

We're singing Dr. Hughes' version. He's the choir director at ChandlerGilbert Community Choir in Arizona.

  • i just got shivers. Our school choir is doing this song for christmas.

  • I DID TOO!!!

    anyway

    they are great!!!

  • 100% beautiful- good balance

  • i likes this song :) BRAVA TO ACABELLA!

  • Beautiful!

  • Great job. I think this song works better sung by females; since the song is about the slaughter of innocent sons, I think female vocals hearkens more to the lament of the mothers.

  • Agreed in full.

  • Personaly i think this works better as a trio with male voices and the origional harmonisation

  • This people are absolutely amazing, and they give me the shivers at certain parts and thats just painful since i'm like a walkign sun burn

  • :) Sorry to cause you pain Sigaldry!! I get shivers every time we sing it, or anytime I listen!!

  • LOL No i meant shivers in the good way, that this is just ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!

  • I got ya!! I know how much it hurts to shiver when you have a sunburn!!!!! :)

  • i love medieval music i think its shaped modern music i feel very close to it more than any period of music

  • wow.. wonderful.. very nice

    serious

  • Wonderful, it gave me goosebumps!

  • A very nicely done song, and a wonderful group to perform it. Be careful about pitch though, it fell flat through the song (about a quarter-tone to semi-tone), but still a very lovely sound.

  • Does great justice to a wonderful carol!

  • Wow.... chills.

  • outstanding rendition of a beautiful song. gracias.

  • wow. Are you all a professional group or did you just get together? You guys are amazing!!

  • We got together in 2005 and have been having a blast ever since!!

  • Very beautiful. I would have liked to have heard the altos more, but you know what, it's wonderful anyway!

  • beautiful

  • Thanks, I think so too!!

  • Voice is the best instrument of the world...

Hear women voices at the same time... one of the best experience in life...

  • It is isn't it!! Though when you throw in a few male voices, it's also amazing. Singing in an all female group, it's nice when you get an opportunity to have that great male sound!

  • Absolutely wonderful. Lovelly tone and resonance in your voices.

I always enjoy singing that ( I am an amateur Tenor).

Some choirs ruin it by trying to sing too loud, but you have it spot on. I dont think a male voice would have made a difference - I suppose the point of the song is mothers singing a lulaby to their young boys knowing that Herod's men are on their way.....it is a quite beautiful and moving piece.

    Nice one

  • Thanks Dave

  • wow, they're really amazing.
