Well, I'm not paying for a HD camcorder (bit expensive) and I don't have the correct hardware set-up to use the mini DV tapes so Camera's with movie mode are fine for me.

I use a canon md225, it costs $350 and uses mini dv tapes. It is easy to use. You need a firewire cable to transfer it to your computer.
