This is why Slipknot wanted a new singer, because they didn't want to head in the death metal direction. It sounds better with Corey because he can sing with a a more melodic way, where you can understand him, yet his vocals are still brutal as hell.

Well emo is short for emotional. While there was obviously lots of emotion on crowz, mfkr, s/t and iowa its completely different to vol.3 and all hope is gone. In the first 4 it was anger, hate, rage, pain but done in a metal way. Now its just whiney, depressing and basically just completely gay. So to be honest, slipknot are much closer now to the emo scene then they are metal. which is sad, because i used to worship them, i dont hate them now, they just suck.

My information is from the following: "Slipknot: Inside The Sickness, Behind The Masks" and "Slipknot: Unmasked (Again)" Anders was their first vocalis from 95 to 97. Corey Taylor was hired because he could produce more melodic singing. Anders was moved to backing vocals and percussion. He played this for a few months, after realizing he was unhappy with his job, he quit. There's your story.

i like the "new" slipknot so much better, corey's voice can tear you apart, anders sounds ok...but when you know slipknot after when anders left the knot, and listen to old songs...it doesn't sound like the knot...even though anders was in the original line up

Anders was never apart of slipknot. He was apart of the band before it, "Painface", after that band collapsed, Slipknot came about and some of the songs on thier first album had the songs Painface made. Thats why they made a new verion of this song with Corey singing.
