I'm not going to say anything offensive because I don't believe in speaking ill of the dead, but I think Hitchens was so overated and a mouthpiece for the Bush Administration with his unconditional support of the Iraq war. I don't understand how so many people can feel a certain way about Bush without directing similiar feelings towards Hitchens.

It's the equivalent of taking off your shoes in a chinese household or singing hymns in a church; one may disagree with their customs but when in receipt of their hospitality, you reciprocate in kind. It's common courtesy, not a religious gesture.

I usually find Hitchens to be almost spellbinding. But to me Charlie Rose is insufferable, among other things so hideous he's almost impossible to look at. Old wrinkled pretentious dude wearing loafers without socks? Are you f*cking kidding me?! I just don't see what he brings to the table as an interviewer, except maybe his signature style of speaking as if he were in a library or on benzos (if you find that appealing). Very "PBS", I guess.

Some atheists say the laws of science and the abstract maths that define them are just inventions of the human brain. But the man having an opposing viewpoint to yours does not in the least constitute the right to call him a fraud. At his own admission, he is an unapologetic contrarian. Thus, when during Bush's presidency the most cliched and popular argument was to denounce Bush starting a war for oil, Hitchens was forced to make an argument in support of it.

@Freethinker12341 I totally agree with you it is up to the believers to prove there is a god, whether it be Yahweh, Thor, Odin or Zeus. I do not mind reading fantasy books, but I prefer Lord of The Rings to the Bible, more elves and dragons.

Would that be the same model or empirical data for abstract math, logic, hope, conscience, intuition or love? While we as finite beings may struggle to define God, there can only be one devine, eternal 1st cause. Any being greater than God would itself be God. Of course created God are everywhere. Man still worships himself & many idols of pleasure, correct?

However since it is the the believers who are selling the idea of god,whether it be Zeus, Thor or Yahweh they should provide the evidence. I do not care what you or others believe but do not tell or ask me to believe in any god.
I believe in science, reason and secular law. We are moral despite any god and religion not because of those two imposters.

I to lack belief in aliens but for me its a non-issue, of no interest. There is no burden of proof, it doesnt taunt my every waking moment, nor does it answer the deepest Q's of life. Perhaps u should rethink why God (not religion) is such an issue for you. Pax!

I lack belief in aliens but that is NOT a rejection of the alien claim b/c there is a remote possibility, they do. Aliens would be demonstrated by physical evidence. I respect and honestly, love Hitchens (love in that brotherhood humanly love kind of way - I find myself feeling that much more toward people I don't know personally recently), Even tho I'm not atheist (but I agree with him on many points about organized religion) and I find myself in strong disagreement with him on Marx & Trotsky. I wish him happiness and comfort.

I enjoy Charlie Roses show but he has an annoying habit of trying to finish peoples sentences. He always does that when he thinks he understands what the people are trying to say.. luckily the scope of people he interviews don't just say yes and stop - but goes on to elaborate. Maybe that's why Charlie does that. hmm. Still a tad annoying.
