  • How'd you get those awesome and realistic lens flare?? I used the render output "glare" and instanced it to the materials, then played around with the settings. I see a tiny bit of lens flare when I test-render on my image, but I can't increase it or the glare will look unrealistic. Even if I do, I can never find a good setting for a realitic flare. Can you give me any tips on how to do so??

  • too much glare faggot

  • Beast

  • how did it only take 3 hours to render, how much RAM do you have ?

  • Amazing! Can you do a tutorial for these? PLEEEEASEE?

I'm a noob at 3ds max. But I want to learn so bad. Where do you think I can start?

  • @skulmonkey im exactly like that.

  • Curious if you could share how you created the reflective ground here while stil blending it into the backgraound (also like in your robot animation scene with different color background blended in like this one). Cheers...

  • hey nice video m8

how long did it took to render this?

  • not bad..

  • Absolutely amazing!!!

Both the renders and the music are very beautiful!

Are you considering making a tutorial anytime soon or if you followed a tutorial can you please send me the link?

    I'll subscribe if you do.

    Thanks

  • lol its awesame

  • dildos ?

  • @neolopus Actually there just abstract shapes...But I guess someone could pleasure them self with some of those. Be my guess ! ☺

  • Hey you can't do a set of awsome renders and an animation like that without describing how you did it so the rest of us can learn. That's the rules I believe!!

  • people who disliked this video are too stupid to understand how hard it is to make it....good work man ;)

  • this is simple yet REALLY GOOD!!

  • hey what program did you used to edit the video and get that effects???????? please reply

  • @casiel10000 I don't have the song, I took it from the audioswap on Youtube.

    Song info:

    Artist:Yorgos Kazantzis

    Song:At Elafonisi

Album:Faux Bijoux I used 3Ds Max with the Mental Ray engine. The lights effects are from the selfillumination advanced effect and the lensflare is the mentalray glare shader in the camera settings(Render tab).

  • @KAPORALDANGER he is asking you for edit program not music hahaha omg

  • dude can you send me the mp3 file with that music please

  • how long does it take to render this?

  • Those teapots...

  • how do you make the background smoothly fade into the floor??? I can't seem to figure out how to make that infinite space look???

  • How do make the background smoothly fade into the floor plane???? I can't figure this out, but it's got to simple??? Anyone know???

  • great!

    ;-)

  • That's stunning!

May I ask what is the dimension of the video and how long it took to render?

  • @happyapple96 unless he upscaled (which I doubt by the quality) the video is 1280x720 and the time all depends on the computer

  • nah i prefer vray

  • poly oraio rendering file, kai poly oraia moysiki episis!

mporeis na moy peis poy mporo na tin vro?

  • @ 0:20 what material are you using on the one that is reflecting a ton of light?

  • @M4XC4V413R4 For this one I used a Mr Arch"n"Desing material. I made a refracting\translucent\transparents materials and activated the self illumination (glow) then fed a fall off in the filter (played arround with it to get the rigth emition point). I also cheched the Iluminate the scene with final gather box. Also I aded a glare shader to the camera lens to amplify the result and also get a lens flare.

  • @KAPORALDANGER wow, you lost me half way :D i'm not at that level yet, no pro like you ;) thanks for the detailed explanation

  • muito bom

  • good one

  • Magnificent!

  • sweet? tutorial =(

  • any legit cracks out there for 3ds max? link?

  • great !!!!!

  • amazing man

  • bravo kai gia ti mousiki ;)

  • How long did this take to render?

  • VERY VERY VERY NICE!!!

    Tell please

In what else the render except Mental Ray can create "glare stars"?

Whether it is possible use Mental Ray to create multi-coloured "glare stars" effects as on jewelry from this video? Type in search: "Cross of Light Diamond" (The link is not added to the comment)

Vray, Fryrender is able to make multi-coloured "glare stars"???

  • how u do u get that shiny material?

  • just add a arch and design material for example that's the fastest way.

  • Hello nice video. I' am a young modeler and animator, you can see my models and animations on my channel, and i was curious on how and where i can get V-Ray, so i can have more real renderings and it be more realistic. Thank you very much. Nice work as well.

    -Matt

  • bravo

  • do you make this using plug in as in V-Ray or just the normal mental ray??

  • I used Mental ray.

  • @rushdrift Mental Ray is as much a plugin as V-Ray m8.

It just comes pre-installed with the software.

  • I don't get how people can create something from nothing in programs like 3Dsmax, people can make tanks, and cars and whatnot, which are indistinguishable from real life photo's.

I imagine you just google "tank" and then copy & paste the parts you wanna use or something, lol

if not, it just doesn't make sense to me, and if people do make them from scratch, they are masters, since they can make them completely realistic looking.

  • @1981z28camaro

we all make these things from scratch, it starts with drawings called blueprints, and we model it acording to these drawings

  • yeah, but what do you model from?

  • @1981z28camaro

depends on the person, popular primitives are boxes, cillinders or planes

i mostly use planes or cilinders, works best for me

  • but where do people get the graphics from to create like realistic looking tanks, do they just take out a paint brush, and create it themselves?

  • You do make them from scratch. But remember that people that makes photo-realistic 3D models and textures have years of experiences and have been doing it for a very long time.

  • brilliant render

  • Nice presentation, inspiring and accomplished 3ds max rendering.

  • whats the name of the song ?? please reply !!!

  • Artist:Yorgos Kazantzis

    Song:At Elafonisi

    Album:Faux Bijoux

    Time:03:43

  • whats the song 5/5

  • with or without GI ....FINAL GATHERING....CAUSTICS?

  • This was done with image based lighting and one point light for shadows. I used ambient oclusion instead of final gathering, and thers a subtle caustic effect through the glass on the floor.

  • Great video !

  • whats the music in the background?

  • I would really appreciate if you would make a step-by-step guide. It will take some time but im sure you get rewarded for that. Please ? Thanks in advance already !

  • how long the render is take

  • maybe a couple of hours...maybe a hole day....who knows...^^

  • know any good tutriols

  • i know :] give me youre mail becouse here i cant take you a link :] sorry my english

  • I NEED MASSSIVEE HELP PLEASEE!!!!

ok i have 3ds max 2010, but i need to open up my project i made on the 2008 version.. is this possible???????? and if so how do i do it!!?!?!?!

  • Sadly there`s no way of doing that propreply. You have to open your scene in the 2010 version and save as .obj or .3ds and reworked texture camera lighting and animation. Any modifier like skin or morph are lost.... Tough luck ! I never tried it but maybe the .fbx extention would work ?

This is a major probleme with most aplication, you can`t revert to a older file format.

    Good luck man !

  • well im useing the trial version of 10, to do my homework for school, and at school we got the 2008 version but i cant find the 2008 version annyyy where!!! for the free trial!! so i got the 2010 version hopein it would work, and when i got to school it woldnt open =(... do u no anyyy where i could download the 2008 version??????? i cant find it... if u could that would be awsomeeeeeee!

  • Could u possible do a video tutorial i want to learn how to do this.

  • how long did it take to learn that?

  • Hard to say.... i've been working with 3ds for a year and a half now..... but to do renders with MR and hdri..... I dont know? Maybe a day or two of practice after reading the help files for someone who knows a bit of 3ds max or maya..... I'm giving trainning on this and we cover hdri and hdrshop in about a couple of hours.

  • How'd you do the box frame animation during the credits?

  • It was done at editing with Sonyvegas Pro.

    (:-])

  • I love the effects of Mental Ray but it takes a bit longer to render. So I use the standard renderer and just make adjustments with the lighting.

  • whats the song called?

  • I am willing to bet that in the year 2050 this will be easy to do in realtime.

  • cant wait to see a holosphere :p and play games in the air :D

  • By 2050 we will be able to do this a physical 3d space....

  • @Chinahat242 you can do this in realtime right now

but the hardware is still pretty expensive. but in about 3 jears its gonna be pretty normal to have cheap hardware capable of doing that in realtime

in 2050 computers will be EXTREMELY more powerful than today, so something like this is going to be the "crappy old graphics grandpa used"

  • @Zolbat I'm guessing you may have found this out already. But Octane does all this and blistering speeds with just mid level Geforce card. 8 series and up.

Todays the last day it's on offer, 49 Euros!!! Offer ends 4th of june 2010

  • @Chinahat242 i bett that in 2015 this wil be done in real time or atleast 2020 because it alreay is done in realtime but with low fps as 1-3 fps, and we are in 2010

the new fermi arcitecture makes this possible with the CUDA GPGPU technology

  • @Chinahat242 I would even say by 2025 at the rate computing has progressed in the last 15 years... It would be a trip to see that technology today.

  • @Chinahat242 Even more soon than 2050

  • @cradal4e Especially with the new graphane boards that will be hitting the market around 2015, we'll have dynamic water by 2030. 2050, that's gonna be insane technology that I don't even think I can imagine, perhaps real time physics sound, and digital molecular matter that includes materials like that in the video. Imagine shattering glass and metal in real time with accurate lighting and everything, all in time.

  • Thank you for sharing that information with me and all the others :)

  • @Chinahat242 by Moore law by 2020 this should be crap.

  • Nice....

  • wow.. how many hours it took from u though to render this!!?

  • A mi me gusta, si es tan mierda mostrame uno que no lo sea...

  • what program is this????

  • It says in the Info and at the end of the video :P

  • 3d Studio max by Autodesk..

  • 3ds max 2009

  • Me estan enseñando a hacer eso en el Duoc T-T.

  • Simplemente hermoso y algo relajante.. Saludos desde Peru

  • Gracias, es muy bonito

  • Comment removed

  • Very cool, very realistic, could you link me to a good tutorial / guide to HDRI effects?

Can't seem to find any good ones

  • WOW, now that is some good rendering, im totally honest the trumpet looks REAL!!!

  • lol

  • Please Make a tutorial how u did this,pleasee

  • hahah i remember when i would render things in Maya 7 it would take days maybe even a week to render one scene, im starting to think that 3ds max was written a lot better/smarter. hehe also i started using 3ds max and i find it much easier to learn and with better results too!

  • Better program helps, but having stronger hardware can be a nice touch too :P

  • well idk if my pc can do this...i've got 3.6 ghz duo core processor, ATI Radeon 4850 video card, T power I45 mother board......i know its probably just dependent on the video card but idk there might be something i don't know. i've got 3ds max 9, and use the default renderer...idk if theres a better one(renderer)... but if its worth the money i would buy it

  • your pc can do it, rendering is cpu based, hardware rendering is gpu based

my cpu is worse than yours, but i've been doing 3d stuff since the old 1.8 ghz pentium 4s.

  • ahhh sweet, so now i just got to get better at 3ds max hehe... hrmm actually my new cpu was a replacement for my pentium 4, i think it was running at 2.5 or 2.6 lol don't remember but haha definately the extra core from my new setup makes a huge difference ^^

  • WOW DUDE IT LOOKS SO REALISTIC

  • soo realistic

  • Damn you must have a very powerful machine to render stuff like that ... right?

  • NO, This was done on a 32 bit duo core with a 216 meg video card. Nothing fancy.

  • how did you do the "glare stars" thing?? please tell!

  • I used the metalray glare shader, wich amplify and streek light comming into the camera lens. Its beautiful and its lightning fast ! its in the render setup...

  • how did you do that..make a tutorial pls

  • THETUTORIAL PLEASE.

  • in the end.. i believe.. its never the software but its the artist behind the software that makes the art.. ... people tend to think that because its max/ or maya its better... but not always the truth.. if you suck.. does not matter what you use... I'm a 3d animator and modeler since 1994.. So i have my years with different apps and they all have their advantages and cons....

  • true,,, the software is nothing but a tool in the hand of an artist. It's the creative mind that makes the tools work to their max. It's like a paint brush. Anybody can hold a brush and do some painting. But only highly creative people can do a masterpiece.

  • Really great comment

  • what´s the name of this song?

  • wat does hdri do ?

  • KAPORALDANGER you really should try using Lightwave 3D, much better rendering times than 3D Max, don't know why people rate Max so high, Lightwave 3D might be cheaper but does exactly what Max does.

  • actually no it doesn't. Lightwave is alot more difficult when it comes to modelling, texturing, and animation compared to max. Max also has a much much much more powerful renderer

  • I disagree with you steamisM50, I picked up Lightwave a lot quicker than Max. Found it much more user friendly. Been lots of comments in the past about the rendering system. Lots of people don't know Lightwave's rendering system is better. I have even tested it myself and noticed a slight better rendering speed with Lightwave over MAX with the same settings. The great thing with Lightwave is it doesn't use images to describe the tools. Lightwave is definitely better. Can't wait for Core :D

  • greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat... I really love it... could you tell me what's the name of this music?

  • blind?? look at itunes link, push it button.. At Elafonisi by Yorgos Kazantzis.

  • how do you create hd video in 3ds max? i have 3ds max 9

  • Hd is simply to have 1280 x 720 resolution. Put your Antialias at max 16, min 4 and render uncompress fullframe. Then in a video editing software compress to mp4. And here ya go... HD!

  • great man!

thanks a bunch for the help! i appreciate you replying ^_^

  • :3 I was wondering about that,thanks!

  • Max 2009 is a bug-nest. Great vid by the way.

  • Really nice work! Did you use mental ray's glare in this?

  • I abused of the glare ! lol ! its a great shader !

  • it really is. and now with mental ray capable of supporting fumefx it's the perfect combination fumefx + glare

  • Absolutely, but with mental ray as soon as you put volumetrique lights in your sceen work with exposure control the FX comes out black..... So there's still somme compositing to do some time. But its stil great !!

  • I realy like your render. Keep up the good work.

  • Shiny.

    Nice photoreaistic looking renders.

  • hwo long does it take to render something like this, i mean a video

  • This one was arround 9 h .Rendering usualy run will I sleep... otherwise it's frustrating. ''sigh''

  • haha yeah i get really frustrated just rendering a picture. what hardware are you using, just to have a better sense of things. Your works are awesome though

  • I work with a plane old 32 bit XP with duo cores. Nothing fancy here. Thanks!

  • thats exactly what i have ^_^ im planning on upgrading to a Core 2 Quad

  • Cool, I have already done a few animations myself and I'm almost 16.

  • are hdri lights a downloadable plugin?

  • Hdri is not a plugin, It's more of a shading technique that uses High Dynamique Range Images to light and color a scene. Ther are a couple of hdri's in the map folder in 3DS Max. You can also create your own using Hdri shop software. Goolgle ''hdri technique'' and you'll find plenty of info on this. :)

  • Oh my God, this is so beautiful. So that's why I want to be a pro in 3D Studio Max

  • AWSOOOOOOOOOOOOOME

  • i like music

  • Artist: Yorgos Kazantzis

    Song: At Elafonisi

    Album: Faux Bijoux

    Time: 03:43

  • Nice.

And I love the music. What is that?
