@bloodyneko2 yes but it is a different story on it is own. The correction is normally seen through the character Bern who is a witch created by the thousand years of suffering of Rika. As well there is Lambdadelta who resembles little Takano.

Sooo I saw a few people saying that they couldn't find any more good horror/bloody anime after higurashi, umineko, and Elfen lied and possibly he'll girl but there's still another! DEADMAN WONDELAND!!:D it's way to unpopular for how good it is but it's really bloody and it has an amazing plot line, even though some people don't appreciate it. Go watch it NOW!! Seriously you need to if you like these animes

@Ilvanime45 I wouldn't say either one trumps the other. What people seems to not understand is that they 2 series are very different. Obviously if we rate umineko with same criteria that makes higurashi so amazing, umineko is inferior but at the same goes the other way. While I find Umineko more "my thing" I wouldn't go as far as to say that one is better than another.

I personally prefer Higurashi, probably because of its genre when it comes to comparing the anime.

Umineko didn't have a proper ending and the main villain had no clear motive, which sort of screws up a good resolution.

Also, there's hardly any reference to the seagulls at all.

But I wouldn't say Umineko is inferior just because of that.

@REDSAMURAI307 It's got plenty of gore in it, but I'm not sure if I would call it horror. The first arc (5 episodes) is mostly horror, but the others are a weird mix of mystery and fantasy. But then, when I watched Higurashi the first arc was the only one that genuinely creeped me out, so maybe it's just me.

@vonPeterhof Same for me...the first arc of higurashi was pretty much the creepiest...others were a bit creepy here and there and that's about it lol...well, gore is good..i like sick, twisted, and dark anime..even if it isn't creepy lol.

@REDSAMURAI307 the 1st arc is pretty horrific and the 2nd arc is a a little bit too however after the 1st arc its mostly mystery and a bit confusing however its still very bloody and got a good plot you will see some higurashi connections too

@nina9439 If I recall correctly, it's about a witch trapping a bunch of people in a time loop as she and and one of the main characters debate whether the murders that occur over the day can be explained logically or not. While they play this twisted game, the participants do their best to survive and try to figure out just what the heck is going on.

@littlemissanime123 A boy who moves to a village and finds out a lot of people have gotten murdered there. It is awesome and there are 56 episodes (3 seasons and a 1 episode OVA). I would recommend watching it :D

@littlemissanime123 Everyone is comparing them because they have really similar stories.Although,I've heard several times that they are connected (lota references in Higurashi to Umineko) and that the story of Higurashi no naku koro ni was a game played by two witches in Umineko no naku koro ni.Both stories are created by the same person and both have repeating time and repeating murder.Both are also really good anime =3 but since I watched Higurashi before Umineko,I like Higurashi slightly more

@Lakerzrock10 Have you gotten ahold of the original Sound Novels. They're amazing and are easily greater than the anime adaptations. I will give the anime this though...the first opening is right on track...

BTW, I agree about the OP. If there's one thing that has been consistent throughout these two series, it's a kickass soundtrack.

Great opening, great first 5 or so episodes, the rest get complicated.

Depending on the viewer the rest seems to get progressively worse or better.

I personally liked this series but I was mad at the ending, i wanted closure. I know the typical hero wins but i wanted to see it for myself. it was too close to call and i'm still unsure to this day :(
