  • It teeters just on the edge of B52s.

  • Wheres the Wall of Death?

    Lame audience...

  • ZAP!

  • @TheChainsOFMisery hell yes

  • I'm not a person to judge purely based on their lyrics or their belief or whatever, but this is too much.

  • FUCKING INTENSE MOSH PIT!

  • Nice to see guitar guy was still his cool self right to the end.

  • lol legends

  • This is really good early 80's New Wavey rock. I thought it was a joke when I first heard it on the video of the TV show (which I assume is a lip synch to the studio version), but the bass line really caught my ear. Now, listening to this, I am hearing great guitar, drums, and keyboards.

  • @danielvlee

uh. no. THAT is not early 80's New "Wavy" rock

    Go back to school.

    Thx.

  • So this is what Erik Estrada did after CHiPs.

  • awesome crowd sing along

  • A-MAZING

  • Best. Thing. Ever!!!!!! That right there is why I'm a Christian! LOL!! That is awesome!!

  • Good gravy, these guys need to do a reunion tour of some sort. I'm far from religious, but this song is so ridiculously catchy and fun; you'd have to be some sort of complete cunt to not totally love it.

  • @HeathenaBot

    oh so true XXD

  • SONSEED RE-UNION TOUR FTW!!

  • @wompo67

A reunion would be nice but 3 members have passed and everyone else is scattered all over the USA. So this is all you get sorry to say...

  • hail sathanas

  • ajajajajajajjajajajajajjajajaja,,,

  • SONSEED RE-UNION NEEDED!!

  • christianity is made up just like every other religion.

  • Liking the hot pink look.

  • did they do a couple of lines before they got on stage...

  • finally something excellent for all you religious Christians.

  • OT: The bassist's got SEXY written all over him in this video.

This song is so cheery :D

  • fucking ace... its good pop music to be fair :P

  • After listening to this song I converted to Christianity and bought 100000 copies of Appleseed, thank you for saving my life

  • Are you serious?

That's awesome. Hilarious, and toootally silly, but awesome.

    You must be insanely impressionable.

  • Why did this happen

  • where did you hold your farewell concert? i see your using a different bass from the television clip.

  • The concert was in December 1983 at Xaverian High School auditorium (in Brooklyn, NY) before about 1200 fans. The bass I'm using was actually the bass I used on the recording; a Fender Precision Elite. The bass on the TV lip-sync was a Steinberger knock-off, a Kramer. It sounded like crap live. I used it for the TV taping because it looked cool. I dumped it immediately after.

  • So cool...Im the bass player for "88Days"..I came across this video by mistake...I really didnt know what to think whil watching this video. My 3 year old and 9 year old daughters walked up and started singing along and then asked me to play it again. So the song must be good ! They are the best judges..I use them to judge our tunes all the time.

  • excellent.

  • NEEDS MOAR MOSH!!!!!!

  • jesus is afraid of mimes (8)

  • ROFLMAO You're awesome, dude.

  • haahhahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahah GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

    thats just funny

  • Now this is real rock n' roll. Hahaha

  • ZAP. lulz

  • WHOA SKA EXISTED WAY BEFORE I WAS BORN......im TRIPPINGoutMAN!!!!!

  • yes, considering it started in jamaica in the 60s.

  • actually it started in the 20's

  • hmm, you must be counting ragtime as ska, which seems a mistake to me.

  • which GOSPEL was a big part of the WEST INDIES MUSIC. This group is not doint anything different if you ask me, they just have a 2TONE style.

  • skas been around way before your dads time kid.

  • WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

  • holy shit its them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is what it is all about......

  • and his whole family joins in to support. ZAP!!

  • it makes you want to dance while setting everything on fire :D

JESUS IS A FRIEND OF MINE

  • Kewl

  • this is obscure

  • No stage dive? No pit?? POSERS!

  • I respect the Sonseed. But seriously, were there enough people that were into local Christian Ska in 1983 that they needed to have a "Farewell Concert"? Seriously? BTW, this fucking rocks.

  • This song was just supposed to be fun. And it was.

  • This song has a certain Kindergarten charm...

  • Tay Zonday on flute!

  • j33bus f'ing christ

  • this was a hit?!?

  • YES AND IT WAS BADASS XD LOL

  • awesome

  • This is seriously the funniest thing I have come across in ages. I thought the other TV version was a pisstake but they are for real! I think that makes it even funnier!

  • do they play other songs too? xD

  • They do, all of the other songs are 1969 religious covers.

  • One think that would make this better, is if the guitar player, was all smashed, and went on a drunk rant before punching that bass player in his happy mouth. Followed shortly with a good power vomit on the keyboard chick.

  • O...M....G.....

  • Flute solo c'mon

  • Get into the moshpit, everyone!!!

  • I wish sonseed would reform, best band ever. Did they have another song? What are the guys up to now? Probably living on royalties on some Island. God bless them.

  • i would to be as happy as them

  • How?

  • Was Jesus in the audience for his friend's final concert?

  • Next band performing their hit song on stage would be Slayer.

  • It's just for fun, silly!

Maybe it will entertain some people. Or annoy/offend a close minded person. Either way it makes me smile.

  • super duper cool!

  • oh yea :D

  • No, this is the BEST. I didn't believe until now . . . and now, I believe!

  • Rockin' his flute for JEEBUS!

  • GOD BLESS SONSEED!!!!!

  • Pfffhahahahahahahaha!

  • thrash metal right here!!!

  • sweet, video added to my site: jesusismyfriend . info thanks again dog!

  • The flutist really gives the song the edge it needs.

  • This is easily the best Christian rock song,...EVER.

A must have soundtrack for those Sunday morning hangovers. This song on repeat and and few bloody marys

    will perk you right up!

  • Oh my gosh, this is so... pink.

  • the "zap" part is helarious on this version!!

  • You mean the two-handed, combat-crouched ZAP by the lead guitarist? I TOTALLY agree!!!

  • Is anyone else wondering if this is lipsynching?

  • If it is lip-synched they did a really good job, both with muddying up the audio quality and with the instruments ,etc. I vote real.

  • Definitely not lip syncing. You can see that what they're doing matches the music, and it's not like the studio version.

  • omg.. now i know the song on guitar.. OMFG =|

  • ok ok i hate the song but cnt stop hearing it WTF just like dat numa numa song :P

  • who would pay to go see this lmao

  • the reminds me of a hyper-flamboyant brainwashed Johnny Cash. awesome.

  • the singer is kinda cute??? :-)

  • funny overload!!

  • fuck....i love it XD

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA

  • Is this available on DVD?

    ;)

  • whats this ZAP! all about?

  • LIVE!! Amazing!

  • thats soo cute!

  • back vocals are insane. lol.

i honestly cried while watching this.

    +

  • wsow, that guitarist TOTALLY zapped someone in the audience, poor person! wonder if they're ok?

  • Sal,

What were the influences for the "ska" style of the song? Were you into the British scene at all? Ska wasn't really around in the U.S. at the time.

  • is it ska or is sal really doing a polka? whatever it is, it's stuck in my head right now. thanks sal. thanks a lot.

  • Good guess! Back then Scott Muni (a DJ on WNEW-FM in NY) used to have a daily segment called "Things From England" where he played tracks from imports from relatively unknown bands. I can't remember the song or the band but yes, I was impressed by a particular piece heard on tht show.

  • I have a feeling that you're going to get a record contract - round up the band members!

  • Superb!

  • When was this recorded? please reply

  • This was recorded at our last concert in December 1983 (or 1984; it was soooo long ago) at Xavarian High School in Brooklyn NY

  • read the comments, that's why they're there

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • so glad to know they're not a just a studio thing

  • a flute? wow. ZAP!

  • they have a live flotist!!!

  • *flautist

  • It's flutist. As James Galway said, ""I am a flute player not a flautist. I don't have a flaut and I've never flauted."

  • but did they have videos for any other songs? or was this the only really funny one worth watching?

  • Wow! Even more kick-ass than the original!

  • this has a cult following where is patricia?

  • what happen to that other funky bass?!?!?!?

  • I do really have a friend ;)

Thanx a lot for the video!!! Amazing to see them live!!!

  • Thanks Doug! The legend continues
