playing clean, meaning by concentrating on open chords, first? I think It also depends on the style of music/sound your going for. You hear a lot of power chords in hard rock & metal music.
This video and many like it are geared for the beginner guitar player.
I see so many newer players who all they do is play with distortion and power type chords.
Sure they like that music and style, nothing wrong with it. But, if you want to be a good player and not a one trick pony, then learn to play without the distortion or over drive.
Learn your music, your instrument, and then you can make some music using distortion and rock style chords and not simply make noise.
Haha, this guy is a great musician and at the end he looked like he was pissed beacuse someone requested the easiest stuff there is on guitar for the kids who can only play TNT by ACDC or Deep Purple and so forth : P

Power Chords are a necessary tool but one should not rely on them for the bulk of their playing.
