before you get all exited, it is a tough program to master. Don't get it and think that you will be able to this on the first day. I have been using photoshop for years and I still learn new things. Be patient my young padawan, and photoshop you will learn.

Tip, there's another way to paint like that without using duplicate layers/deleting part of the image. As long as it is threshed, just create new layer on top, set mode to multiply and paint away! A bit easier I feel.

Ok...a lightbulb flashed when you began painting on new layers and it didn't effect the original. You used the eraser tool to bring back what was under the layer you painted on. thanks
