When I saw the first signs of this game coming I thought it was going to be a dud. Seriously, that was at least 3 years ago. I finally bought this game last Saturday. Wow! Amazing! The graphics alone are jaw dropping. The gameplay is nothing short of thrilling. This is a great video to see because you can really tell they did so much to it in the time since this was released as a teaser. Great job, Rockstar! May I suggest a mafia game set in the late 20's, early 30's? That would be sick!

0:45 The character is different in some ways, although the hat remains the same. Look at his hair, it's blonde, but has about the same length of hair John's does. Also, notice how the character doesn't have wrancher gloves, where as John does. However, it is apparent that they ditched the cartoonie style of Red Dead Revolver way back in 05.

Red Dead Redemption is a spiritual successor to Red Dead Revolver. The storyline is in no way linked, nor are characters or locations the same or similar in either game. Features and combat (such as Dead Eye) are however the same, if not more advanced, to its predecessor.

Think of the two as a series, similar to the Grand Theft Auto series, in the way that each game is different story, character and (usually) location wise, however share the same core similarities.

Looks like the town is an earlier rendition of Armadillo, with buildings similar to the ones in the MacFarlane Ranch. And the duster is an early rendition of the duster outfit that can be unlocked in RDR.

I'd say you are right, it sure does share great similarity to Armadillo building wise. Interesting to see the layout differences of some of the buildings.

If you look closely at around 0:11 also, you can see what appears to be animals (possibly horses?) moving around the fenced building to the top-left. I'm guessing that was the original idea of the fenced horse area in Armadillo next to the Salon in the final game.

I always find it amazing, watching this video.
