  • how did you fuck no.3, long hair coke snoring musician always die at a your age, unless he's not really a muscian

  • Derren Brown, a person who says he's lying, did this perfectly multiple times lol

  • @AboyNAmEDsued I love Derren. He shows the fakes that he's even better at being a fake than they are!

  • awww...darn it, i said #2 was alive and the rest are dead >:(

  • Why can't we clone James Randi and pack congress with intelligent, critical thinkers?

  • What The Hell Is Up With The Claps After He Thanks Her

  • I think Cher sang a song about this woman........"Gypsy's, tramps and thieves"

  • notice how all the psychics have names like stella ,agnes , and other names that sound mystical

  • I can't understand a darn thing she is saying. I guess I can't speak loon.

  • i got 4

  • @wantpussyinclub

Consider you have 5 cards with numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 faces up. Your task is determining of card with number "3". Will you make a mistake? Will you determine correct card with some probability other than 100%?

    Dont be ridiculous.

  • I am a psychic and I know what James really meant when he said "you make up your own minds".. he really really really meant "you dumbass fucks, stop acting like a kid, you're an adult, stop it, sotp it!"

  • @tkoizumi

    very good!!!

  • @tkoizumi I am not a psychic and I know what James really meant when he said "you make up your own minds.".. he really really really meant "you dumbass fucks, stop acting like a kid, you're an adult, stop ti, stop it""

  • i got 4 right.

  • Huh doing the test on only 5 pictures was very risky. It is true that 50% correct is expected but with such few data this is not much reliable. Randi was lucky that she didn't get luckier than expected :)

  • Huh doing the test on only 5 pictures was very risky. It is true that 50% correct is expected but with such few data this is not reliable at all.

  • She said the old looking photograph is dead....what are the odds, lol

  • a person with glasses has problems with the eyes

    :O

  • It says 26,952 people have watched this video. If they all guessed randomly, about 842 viewers should have gotten every photo correct.

  • I went to Randi's show and I passed a test with 100% accuracy. I did not claim to have super powers...

  • no, a result of 100% all the time is godly, less than 100% is human error.

  • i even GUESSED more than her lool and what is all that junk shes saying ahh i think he go to alpes or what ever theres no way of proving it lol! silly russian bitch!

  • any1 else have no clue what she's saying?

  • i like the canned applause in this broadcast, they should have had clapping on this show, id like to see clapping prove itself in front of all of those handless audience members and countless viewers at home eating dinners with their feet

  • WELL 3 out of five is a positive result anyway.... I don't see how would he "expect" this... he could have put ALL dead people there, so I think he is talking bullshit here, especially telling in the end what he expected, he should tell it in the begining anyway.

  • @dumbnetworks

It's simple mathematics. If the people in the picture are randomly dead or alive (they were likely chosen that way), then randomly guessing their state should coincidentally be correct about half of the time. For five pictures, that's about 2 or 3.

It is just as unlikely to get all of them wrong as it is to get all of them right!

  • @veryfastpicket no. I just said that the people could be all DEAD! So what then? what would he expect from the results?

  • @dumbnetworks

No, you said much more than that. You literally said "3 out of five is a positive result anyway" and then tried to exemplify your point with an example of how "he could have put ALL dead people there."

I was pointing out that that is not true. He got exactly what you'd expect had he been randomly guessing, which suggests that he was randomly guessing. If you don't understand this then it's because you don't understand basic mathematics...

  • @veryfastpicket wtf are you those types that takes words out of context?? what would you do If I would said it not write it? WTF is wrong with you? Luckily it is written so you can't lie about it as probably you do in your life... you people are just strange. I have everything in the same comment dude, I didn't ad anything "later" or something like that... What you understand from it that's your problem not mine.

  • Comment removed

  • @dumbnetworks

You were quoted in context. I would quote your entire post verbatum if YouTube allowed space for it. Your accusation is insulting!

Your first two sentences were literally "WELL 3 out of five is a positive result anyway.... I don't see how would he 'expect' this..." It's not a positive result. It's what you'd expect with random guesses. We can state this with mathematical certainty...

    en.wikipedia(.)org/wiki/Probability_theory

    en.wikipedia(.)org/wiki/Expected_value

  • after expect this I wrote that they could be all dead people there, that is the context, ignorant fool, because if you put dead people there you change all probablilities, think about it

    'p9

  • If you love Randi also watch Carl Sagan

  • Anybody could just walk in off the street and guess that everyone is alive and get 4/5 correct so I'd say 3/5 is a worthless score. It's like guessing C for every answer on your SATs. You'll get something right but it doesn't mean you really know what you are talking about.

  • is it me or does her accent not really match with her name. Freeman is not a name which you would expect to match with this voice. Acting maybe?

  • Your evidence of this?

  • @UncleFeedle hehehehe

  • lol I guessed the alive or dead test completely right.! just on chance though of course. I am merely 15 and have no claim to psychic powers, however, I do in fact claim to be reallly lucky lol.

  • @DodecahedronHead I'd love to see someone on the show say "I don't have any powers; I'm just really lucky!" and win the money with their consistently good luck.

  • @misscpb if they did someone would have claimed the $10,000 cash prize this man is offering. im not sure what it is about you people. maybe you life is too dull and u need some excitment.

  • it was a million at one time, and most likely still is

  • @Bikertothemax1 its a 1 million dollar prize now, no one has claimed it.

    +

  • @misscpb fail.

  • @misscpb you need to PRACTICE, your spelling

  • Good morning Agnes Freeman, looks like yer in the barrel today.

  • All this is old hat to randi love him

  • haha, he didnt let her slither out of it too.

  • Can anyone understand what the hell she's saying?

  • Wow, guessing a person with long hair is a musician or an artist... how amazing

    [/sarcasm]

  • Haha,,,,Lol...could also be Cousin It from the Addams Family!!!! in response to Ikvsabre's comment

  • The nr 5's picture seemed like the oldest one. You have a stunning 1/5 chance to get it right though. When you know only 1 is dead, you can pick the dead one out of 5 candidates. The rest are trivial.

  • he didnt say that 1 was dead. and you therefore do not have a chance of 1 in 5 to get it right but a chance of 1 in 2 (dead or alive are 2 options), so the expected result would be 2 or 3 correct. which was the case.

  • Ok well then it's a different scenario.

  • omg wow i got them alright i said they are all living except number 2 pretty much dead it looked to me iam not physic so dont go there just lucky me hehehehehehehehe i love guessing and getting it right hahahahah

  • Dude I also got it right! I don't know how but I did it!!

  • @sweetwoman09 ... me too, no kidding!!! (not claiming to have any power) ... hahaha ... but i guess that out of the 33608 people that has seen this video (to the due) many of them has ... 1/32 chances over 33608 times seems plausible to me!

  • @sweetwoman09 women always say they knew the answer after it's revealed. I think you're full of shit.

  • @idiallin your stupit i forgot what i said i put that 2 years ago idiot lol

  • @sweetwoman09 "your stupit"...Amazing

  • @sweetwoman09 Well, statistics dictate that EVENTUALLY one of you monkeys would write a youtube comment.

  • To all those who guessed right... don't forget you'll have to pass a more severe test, afterwards.

Best regards from DiMschool Belgium !

  • heh, I scored perfect too.... except I'm not psychic, just very lucky in such a small sampled test.

Still, I wonder how many stupid people would believe I'm psychic if I had appeared on this show?

  • What would #5 gentleman think to be pronounced as dead by her?

  • Oh dear, I got them all wrong xD I'm very much un-psychic.

  • lol !!!

  • Don't worry. Everyone is un-psychic.

  • He now offers one million dollars and proves that he has it in an account. No one's claimed it yet. That idiot Sylvia Brown refuses to take a shot at it.

  • holy shit! i guessed number 2 was dead! i would have got it perfect!

    im so psychic!!!!!111!!!!!!

i should start up my own store and make moneyzzz

  • My husband got these all right - 100%. Seriously, with no effort or thought!

Which proves one thing, to me - that even if one of these folks got it all right, it would still be crap.

  • According to what I readed the test we see are just a prelimenary test. the first test is just a probability test.

If someone passe the first tests there is another one that have to be set. But no one ever passed the first test.

  • @pookabun All five correct is a 1 in 32 chance, which is not all that unlikely. If a million people watched this video and guessed, then approximately 30,000 would get all five correct. If someone could repeatedly beat the odds, then it would be significant.

  • @pookabun or... YOUR HUSBAND IS PSYCHIC!

  • @pookabun Lol its funny because I got the graphologists 100% right too.

  • @pookabun Maybe your husband has psychic powers! He should consider himself blessed and very lucky to have successfully tapped into that which very few people ... Hang on, no, wait, I'm talking shite sorry, a voice from a spirit from beyond the grave told me to shut the fuck up cause im making very little sense, he also sad I should get committed seeing as hearing the voices of the dead is something that doesnt happen to sane people. Although tbh I gonna see if homeopathy cures me first :P x

  • @pookabun In science we consider something statistically significant if it has a p value of > 0.5

Which means approximately 1/20 of our experiments will be due purely to chance. Imo the best way to determine whether something is true or not attempt to understand the mechanism of action because correlations exist everywhere and it is best not to confuse correlation with causation.

  • @daymyth Um.. did I appear to be saying that I really think my husband is psychic? Or anything remotely similar?

  • @pookabun It was just a lesson on correlation and causation. It's more in response to your other part of the comment.

"Which proves one thing, to me - that even if one of these folks got it all right, it would still be crap."

If someone continued to a highly significant value, support the idea that they could indeed read accurate details about people, then the next question is to ask how are they doing it?

Randi's prize is indeed in that spirit, because such abilities are the tip of an iceberg

  • @daymyth Was just joking around you realize.

But thanks for the lesson :P

  • @pookabun An iceberg made of a new understanding of Neuroscience, Physics and Biochemistry. My response to highly significant weird stuff is generally "sick" or "shiiiiiiiiit". Like that recent Nature meta review on homoeopathy which found that there appeared to be a significant meta effect occurring which was greater than expected by chance and the placebos. My response was HFS now what do we do... Is it a new placebo effect like coloured pills? What could it be...?

  • @pookabun I find your statement "Which proves one thing, to me - that even if one of these folks got it all right, it would still be crap." To be the antithesis of what science is all about. Your just like the psychics and homoeopaths. So in closing "Be open minded, but not so open minded that your brain falls out" :)

  • @pookabun if this lady wouldve gotten 100% on this test he would give her a couple more tests since she claims to be 100% accurate

  • why do these people agree to get on the show?

  • uh $10000? He says he will give anyone who can prove they have powers $10000. He says this nearly every video and he said this at 1:12-1:20

  • Some people actually believe they possess 'psychic' abilities. And others like Uri Geller are just in it for the money

  • for prize money!

  • because their are simple minded idiots how try to fill a gap in their life with this shit

  • I think most of them really believe they have some special gift.

  • because they think they might have a chance of outsmarting sir james. haha it never happens though..

  • 10 grand.

  • it used to be 10 grand*

  • Bunch of scammers.

  • These charlatans confidence impress me, but they need a great and respected skeptic like Mr. Randi to knock them off their high-horse. Maybe they'll stop all the nonsense and get a real hobby like collecting stamps.

  • Im not psychic or nothing but number two creeped me the fuck out and I'm watching this in a dark room... jeeezz.....

  • No one is psychic. lol.

but it was an odd photo

  • number two = FRANKENSTIEN

    lol

seriously though he is one scary man

  • tell me what the percentage of what chance is?

they make up the percentage so they don't have to pay to lessor mediums if they hit better than 2/3rds. you should make your hits 50/50!

  • To pass, your score must significantly exceed whatever result you might expect from merely trying to guess the right answers. In order to calculate this target score that would indicate success, the applicant must first define the limitations of their claimed powers. For example, if the applicant claims 100% success every time, a result of less than 100% would constitute failure.

  • "Lesser mediums"?

There's no such thing. It's all bullshit. 100%

  • Some are better bullshitters than others.

  • @onthecuttingedge2005 Are you kidding? The woo woo people are claiming to be totally accurate. Keep in mind that they only did the "alive/dead" test for the photos, and did not delve into whether she was right about the individual's lifestyle. If she only got 3 right for alive/dead, I doubt very much her powers of psychometry would've been accurate at all about their lifestyles.

It also looked like she was reading from a script....

  • @onthecuttingedge2005

The Chance of getting 3 or more hits out of 5,

    is exactly 50%!

  • How does that work, lol.

  • I thought they were all dead. She was a true believer, I think, and not an active charlatan.

  • I can tell by a photo that a person is dead, its called an obituary :P

  • It sounds like he says "we'll stick a dick right up there on his eye"

    haha

  • Definitely. Dick in the eye.

  • She's got a great accent. Anyone recognize her ethnic history? Just curious.

  • I got them all right! 8¬` Maybe I have that power!

  • again i know i keep using him as an example but he does all these "tricks" same as these "real psychics.. pahhh!"

but look up derren brown.. undertaker.. he does this with him.. and admits in the show it is all a trick.. an illusion. and the undertaker manages to separate them 100% correct.

so once again.. fake fake fake...

  • He also explains about how pendulums can move without the person apparently moving it themselves, similar to the divining with a pendulum that she claimed to have done in his book. :D

  • no. not quite. there is one picture of a woman in a red sweater that was put in the "wrong" pile, and you can actually see derren covering that picture up with other pictures to make it seem like 100%

but there is no harm in that as he does not claim supernatural powers. and he is a great psychologist. :)

  • I got it right too! hmmm creepy!

  • whats with the weird clapping

  • Probably the quality of the audio.

  • Sounds like a looped track.

  • He's a beast.

  • i got it right

  • Bruce Chatwin! He only died about two years before this was on telly. She could easily have recognised him.

  • goodnight randi

  • From what I understand, Randi doesn't touch religion much. Although he is an atheist, he tends to steer away from debunking religion.

  • Yeah thats what so great about him, is that he doesn't rub his supremacy in their face lol hes incredibly humble about it. I dont think he likes to ruffle peoples personal religions

  • Also, a supreme being is unfalsifiable. There's no way he could prove that God doesn't exist. You can't prove a negative.

That's why no matter how many individuals he debunks, he can never fully prove that people cannot possess paranormal or psychic powers.

  • Hulagirl777 - That's right, you can't prove a negative. I believe James Randi often says that he is not even trying to prove that such things don't exist. He is simply asking for evidence of such things, and still as of now, the million dollar prize remains unclaimed.

  • I respect that he doesn't attempt to touch religion or the existance of a supreme being.

And anyways, I don't think that sort of thing is testable.

  • Randi only cares about debunking people or beliefes that harm people.

  • Namirsolo - In my opinion, the concept of religion itself is not something to be debunked. There are religious people in the world. On the other hand, if someone thinks they prove under simple controls that any gods actually exist, I'm sure they could apply for the paranormal challenge prize offered at the JREF.

  • Thankyou so much for uploading all these Randi videos. I'm a big Penn & Teller fan & heard about Randi through their stuff. Anything to do with debunking frauds & charlatans is top-notch entertainment to me! :)

  • P&T are great, I also give my thanks to UNCLEFEEDLE for uploading these, i cant help but comment on most of these. james randi needs to be shown everywhere.

  • Thanks much for posting these videos I love James Randi and hadn't seen these ones before, it's a delight to see so many new (to me) instances of him actually testing paranormalists. It's even better that they all get pwned.

  • Whoever you are, if you persist in spamming this slanderous crap across every Randi video out there, don't expect to see your posts last long.

  • You should be grateful - he's helping intellectually challenged people like you to distinguish between reality and fantasy land.

  • anyone know if Randi has dealt with the existence of God at all? If he has tested priests to get God to reveal himself or something like that... It would be interesting to see a priest try to get God to show himself and fail

  • Such a claim would probably be deemed untestable, since most people have different perceptions and opinions of exactly what God is. Even is someone were to demonstrate a 'miracle' eg. turning water into wine, curing blindness etc, it wouldn't necessarily represent evidence of a divine being.

  • i think she deserved more than a big thank you. she deserved a big I GOT PWNED BY JAMES RANDI!! t-shirt.

  • this was awesome reality tv

  • derren brown does a very spiffy stunt doing this (no pendulum)

  • Derren Brown's take on it is a variation of a card trick well known to magicians. It is far more impressive and convincing than what this woman is doing.

  • hrm, i didn't think the photos were a card trick, i thought it was a psychology sort of trick as the selected pics of the dead people much of the time looked more dispondant /withdrawn

  • Not all of his material is psychology-based. Much of it is common magic routines adapted in such a way as to give the illusion that some kind of psychological manipulation is taking place. It's brilliant misdirection. Sometimes he even puts in little clues which only magicians would spot, allowing them to recognise what's really happening.

  • I have revealed neither the name of the trick nor the method.

  • very much alive??! alive or not alive is the question

  • My question is what is she saying 95% of the time.

  • bravo! good show.

  • She didn't do quite as bad as the rest of the people who were on his show. She has a funny accent, her voice belongs on The Simpsons.

  • She did just as bad. He said by random chance a person would get 2 or 3 correct out of 5.

  • The odds of getting all five right are 1 in 32, I think. This assumes that each guess is just a 50-50 guess and not based on deduction eg photo 4 is an old man, 5 looks an old picture etc, so it could be deduced he is more likley dead.

  • Kinda sad that those people are dead, y'know. Possibly others have died since, and James Randi must be nearing his own end, he is now an old man.

  • just the typical cold reading. i mean, the other information she puts out is nothing but cold reading.

  • Could you post entire episodes on google video?

  • Another one bites the dust.
