  • Nice solo. Like somebody else said, your style IS very 1970s. That's where my drumming is too.

  • hey man great job. you have truly inherited Bonham's soul. I've been playing drums for 4 years. and man, I havent heard anyone to sound this much like bonham. ever. Its hard to believe your not his son.

  • Im loving those triplets. I can tell you a Bonham fan. I must say great work!

  • amazing

  • You must love Mr. J. Bohnan....

  • Hey lowflyer55

Not sure if you rember me, but we talked awhile back.

I really like this solo, you still have that stlye and groove that alot of people lack after not paying for awhile. :D

Anyways, I just wanted to say, if you are going to play with a band, you might want to consider getting a rack, moving all those drums will be a pain without one, well if your picky about your setup like me.

    ANyways great job.

    :D

  • I would like to see you play some Rush.

You have a very keen sense time, I'll check out more of your vids.

  • Man thats a sweet solo you rust after 18 years but thats realy clean rolls and a fine techniq not bad kepp playing !!

  • dude your "18 years of rust" is superior to almost every stupid drummer these days. My chemical romance, crap like that.

  • :) thats very kind of you....thanks so much..

  • Oh man... From 4:13 on you were beyond awesome...! Sounds like your shaking a little of that 18 yr rust off! I'm going on 8 yrs of not drummin much. You really should get back into it mainly for YOUR own enjoyment. That's the only reason I've ever played... Got my first snare in 1968 thanks to Mr. B. Rich & the tonight show... Nothing compares to the worlds you can create when molding & bouncing time & space around like clay. And when you discover the true power of Silence ~ LOOK OUT!

  • Thanks so much for such kind words...I know what you mean, I remember being glued to the tv set when Buddy Rich was on the Tonight Show. He was evidently from a different world! :) Thanks again for watching and listening...Take care my man...:)

  • @lowflyer55 Excellent playing! Sounds like you've de-rusted to me! I remember checking the new TV Guide every week to see if Buddy was scheduled to play on Carson at all. Also, used to check PBS (channel 13). Saw Buddy's West Side Story there, and had to keep checking. And In Concert and the Midnight Special too! Welcome back home to the King's real throne!

  • Hello...mr lowflyer55...I'm luke, I'm italian, I'm 15 and I play drums since I was young and little...U 'r very good...you stile is very 1970'...U 'r great!.....So stilish!

  • Hi Luke...and salute to Italy! Thanks for the kind words...yeah, I'm sort of 70's...:) Anyway, it's great that you're playing...keep banging away at it...just keep at it. Whether you get famous or not, drums are the foundation of a song...the grid. And it's cool to be in love with it. Power on my man! :)

  • wuts that ur sayin in the beginning? lol

  • Hey Napalm.....haha, I was telling my son (I'd just made some kind of mistake, and I was telling him (for when he watches the vid), "My man...if you end up playin' the drums...don't do THAT EITHER! ha-HA!!" :) When I recorded this he was about 2 or so...he's 3 1/2 now. :) Thanks for listening! And take care...

  • :) Thanks my man, I appreciate such kind words...used to give lessons way, way long time ago. Actually, the first job I had besides working in the yard for my Dad, was being the drum instructor at a music store when I was 16. Don't have that kind of time nowadays. Anyway, thanks again for being so nice. :) Take care my man....and keep smackin' those drums! :)

i have gained a large amount of respect from watching this video lol

  • Hey and salute to the U.K. Thanks very much my man, there are a lot of smokin' drummers out there, soloists extraordinaire...so thank you. Yeah, those are my old friends my '71 Ludwigs. They've become vintage as I suppose I've become. Haha...Hey, thanks for stopping by, and have a great holiday. Take care...:)

  • Wow! I must say, I truely do not think I am even worthy of witnessing your God-like talent! Sir, if I may say, you are a living legend and your skills remind me of the great Buddy Rich.

Keep up the good work Sir!

  • Well :) that's a little over the top, there are so many drummers out there that smoke me...:), but I thank you for your very kind words. Buddy Rich though? :) I have to say he was truly on a different planet than me...if he were a 10, I'd be about a 3. :) Hey, thanks for stopping by...visit anytime. An hey to New Zealand...:) Take care.

  • what did you DO for 18 years!?!?!?

  • :) Went back to college for Computer Science, finished, got married, became a programmer for about 8 years, discovered I actually hated programming, had my first child. Haha...lot of water under the bridge. Thanks for listening...:)

  • yes very good player

  • Thanks very much, I appreciate it. And thanks for stopping by...:)

  • fucking awesome

  • I really appreciate it, thanks, and thanks for stopping by...(sorry for the late reply)...

  • Awesome as usual! I have a new vid up too. Check it out.

  • Hey Gung, and welcome back...I checked out your new vid...fast, fast stuff. Nice work. I rated you 5* and left you a comment. Thanks again for stopping by...:)

  • my deep respect.i thougt to j.bonham before ive read your posting :) his solo at the song remains the same is great. greetings from germany.

  • Hello Kephren...and salute to Germany! Thank you for your good words. Yes, John Bonham...of all the different greats out there, living and dead, some of them almost like magicians...John Bonham is still my favorite. He had a certain punch that was so pure. Anyway, thank you for listening Kephren...

  • Me again...Hey, you need a band! Just listened to your Nirvana cover. Perfection. I've watched all the "drummer gods," on here...and yes, they are very fast, but I don't believe that is the true essence of drumming. Proper drumming is a...pulse...a vibe...

You need to keep this up. How about some Zep? or whatever you choose...just post more. Hit those drums, brother...we watch...we are inspired. You are very good.

  • Hey man. That's really a glowing comment and extremely kind. Yes it can be discouraging watching the "drummer gods", but I'm content with my part...feeling my part. Been under the weather lately from cholesterol medicine side effects. Wow. I STOPPED & I'm slowly feeling better. I'll post more, and as always, thanks SO much for your kind words.

  • not 2 bad

  • Thanks Tyrs...and thanks for dropping by again...

  • Ha! Once again you are simply awesome. This grooves for days. The more I listen to it, the more I hear. I watched this before...but never all the way through. You have roto toms! I just got mine a few days ago. Very, very cool, my friend. You inspire me. Thank you for the videos you've posted.

  • Hello Efuse911...again, you're so kind. I'm always listening to what I call the "wizard" drummers out there and they always make me feel so...basic. Comments like yours really mean a lot to me. Thank you...(roto toms are definitely a cool additional voice...enjoy!)

  • sir i am pretty sure thath u are gonna make happy any local band you get in

  • Chubysant...that's nice of you to say that; I guess any band I get into, they'll be making me happy too, so it'll be cool all around. Thanks once again Chu for listening...

  • Gr8 drummer wonderful dynamics only playing night after night can give u that, Thats why most drummers on youtube suck & that includes the corporate drummers like Lang & Weckl. Its a shame the arts r dead u have a lot to give to music, theres no drummers playing anymore. The college kids do good organised solos but dont have the song experience.

  • I appreciate your very kind comments Nal. I've always felt the most emotion, personally, playing songs, trying to marry my drums to a song, to punch the song up, to make the other players sit on top of it and feel taken care of. I think that's why I hit so hard. Haha, but the loud can take away technique. I don't excel at solo like the wizards out there, not really "pulled" by it. I love listening to them though. Thanks for listening Nal.

  • I simply love that..."trying to marry my drums to a song." That is what it is all about. That is the notion that makes a drummer a good drummer.

  • I'm very grateful for that sentiment Efuse. I see so many drummers out there who technically murder me...it can be discouraging; i.e. my favorite drummer is John Bonham. Know what he said once close to the time of his death? "I'm through playing drums...everyone's better than me." Technical geniuses & speed demons are certainly one apex of the art, but we all can have something nice to give. Thank you so much for listening.

  • ...Wow!!!

  • Yeah, I couldn't believe Bonham actually had that thought either. Every time I consider him thinking that, I wanna go back and tell him, "Ohh man, you don't know how many people you touched with your drums...you ARE one of the legends who can never be exceeded." Yep, he's my favorite.

  • you´ve got some cool ride variations going there dude. Easy on the double bass cliché though! You´ve definitely got something to contribute with - keep it up. One can never get to old to play this wonderful instrument.

  • I appreciate it Dozza, thanks. Re. the dble pedal, I never used one all the years I played for a living; I started investigating it recently when I began playing again. It's a fascinating tool; still figuring out how to work it in. Thanks for listening...
