@phreddy87 it is a clean hit in the sense that ovechkin didn't elbow, charge, interference, etc... but with the new hockey rules you can just touch someones head in a hit and it will be a 5 minute major, if it looks intentional it could be a game, if there is an injury it could be a 5 game minimum (if it was clearly intentional)

Not saying ovechkin checked him in the head on purpose, but he should have been aiming for the swiss' guys chest.

They shouldn't do it because it could possibly lead to injuries, but if you argue with their calls they will just ask you to leave. Seen a lot of dirty hits in the amount of time I have played hockey, but I haven't seen 1 person win an argument with a ref about a call.

I don't know how I feel about this hit. I can't tell if it was dirty or clean. Ovechkin blind sided him, but what else is he supposed to do? He's stepping out of the box and the guy's right there, he's not just going to let him skate past. Maybe the puck carrier should be more aware of his surroundings, and NOT carry the puck past the box when the penalty is about to time out. I would probably just put OV back in the box for 2, but not suspend him.
