  • I really wanted to see the gate.

    pitty.

    I feel sorry for them.

  • @qert2

    korean ancestors u kno

  • thanks that was very cool.

  • is this the one that got burnt down????

  • National Treasure #1...this rather small gate was? That all they had in Korea? No castles, n temples?

  • There were lots in Korea. But you must remember there was hundreds of invasions in Korea throughout history. and especially the last several wars like Sino- and Russo-Japanese, Japanese occupation and Korean war all took place on Korea one after another destroying literally everything. It was quite amazing that Namdaemoon even survived 600 yrs of hell. In a way it represents Korean spirit. That makes it important. Now it is burnt down. =/

  • Why don't they rebuid other buidlings and why not this one too.....we know it is not all same...but it will right'n up ppl's mind. I am sure Koreans will happly pay taxes for that.

  • Nam dae moon is going to be rebuilt, I think. Cuz that one is more special than most likely any other building/treasure we have. However, rebuilding everything is just stupid. For Koreans at least. Rebuilding important buildings usually doesnt' make it as special anymore. Nam dae moon holds a very unique symbol for the nation so it is being rebuilt. We don't really care what foreigners think of our history. As long as we have ours and remember them, its good. For me at least.

  • I suggest you take a Korean civilization class or something. This was not just a small gate. It's the ruins of a very large and sustaining dynasty that ruled the peninsula for hundreds of years. There are many "temples and castles" in Korea and you can go see them when you visit. Its a very beautiful coutnry, and the people and culture are even more beautiful, a result of a long and hard cultural history South Korea has fought. Look where we are now, thriving economy and most techie in the world

  • disgusting jap

which means in our historical fortune way there is a guy names jung do yun. He was born at Chosun dynasty and he made a prediction that if Sungremoon gets broken or get destroyed the country of Korea will be destroyed and will be vanished. If that gets destroyed we will have a bad luck.

  • die dog eaters

  • we all should die if u say it like that. we kill millions of cows, chickens, etc everyyr

  • are you stupid? do we boil cows alive? or do we skin cows alive? no! WAKE UP BITCH!!!

  • no we don't but we kill more than killing dogs/ it's like killing one dog = 100 cows

  • YOU ARE ON CRACK. stop the fur farms & kill all dog & cat eaters

  • k stop eatin rats scouse

  • im goin to kill double the asains

  • stop being such a fucking right wing liberal

you are the exact kind of person who come and curious enough to try dogs and actually like it

  • As tragic as this was, Koreans have been through much worse events than this, like the war, the Sampoong Mall collapse, and the Daegu subway fire. They turned one of the world's poorest countries into one of the richest in only 50 years. They will rebuild this and it will be just as beautiful.

  • omg.....

  • I'm am so sad. This is a horrible loss not just for the Korean People, but for the entire world. This building was a statement in the middle of all those glass skyscrapers. It was like the Gorgeous Heart of Seoul. My heart breaks with my Korean friends. Please Rebuild. Korea has risen from the ashes before, it can again. Remember beauty never is destroyed. Thank you for the memory.

  • @Cockenstein: Clearly you're a worthless piece of shit

  • why would somebody do something like that?!!!!!!!! how astonishing, why would somebody burn down such a beautiful historic landmark??? why.... :(

(Nam Dae Moon(southern gate)) or Seung Rae Moon was a proud monument, beautiful and strong pride rested there , but I guess now its history......

Why did that shit burn it? he doesn't have pride for our country???

  • I saw if I got a chance to visit korean I must go to the nation treasure ..but I guess i'm a little too late .

  • Best monument with best music ever!

  • The concluding "아리랑" as the night scene fades is eerie ... considering what we all know what happened to the structure vis-à-vis what the song is about.

  • The time is passing always...

Even thoght it was burned down already

National treasure No1 of korea sungremoon is in our heart deeply forever...

  • Sugohasheosoyo, Jinju Tiger. It will be rebuilt for all of us -foreign and Korean- alike to visit, cherish and enjoy!

  • oh.. oh.. oh.. oh.. Sungremoon

  • makes me really sorrowful..I can't believe this disaster.
