  • Has the Sugar Hill Gang ever made an attempt to get Caz recognized as a writer for the song and paid?

  • "...Fucked me up ever since..."

I know what he means. Obviously not on that scale but when you feel you've missed you're BIG oppourtunity - you dwell on it forever or at least 'til something equally big is yours.

I feel for Caz, no matter how many see this video, so many out there aren't going to realise Caz wrote the most quoted line on one of the most important rap tracks.

  • dymmcee or Dumb C (me thinks the latter)!!!

  • BIG DUMB HANK is full of shit

  • Here the rub though, the songwriter credit goes to Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards(the original writers of "Good Times"). So when the song get played on the radio or movies("The Wedding Singer"), Nile & Bernard get paid for songwriting royalties. Sugarhill Gang get record sale royalties which is not much. Still if Caz is still sore about it, get a lawyer & sue Sugar Hill Record/Rhino & Warner Brother Records to get your cut. Other than that, learn your lesson to copyright your shit.

  • after you steal stuff you do not make up excuses for stealing..Hank you should have love for Casanova because you have been living off the money ever since.

  • Cold Crush Brothers

  • CAz was the original ghost writer and didn't even know it....:D

  • ''COOL WHAT EVER'' means its mine...

  • Caz gave it away he didn't charge or make any deals so its kind of his fault but ya they should of pieced him off;

  • This situation with Hank and Caz just never sat right with me , surely there must be some legal recourse where Caz can get some royalties from "Rappers Delight"

  • caz missed the bus

  • of course Caz didn't copyright his shit at the time. No one was thinking like that. Rap was fresh, new and done by kids. Rap wasnt even making records yet who the fuck would have thought to copyright their shit when our fathers weren't even around to safegaurd our talent(s)..

  • @JovonTLC Especially being so young! Who would have thought about that then?To me, Hank was vague in his "defense". Maybe they did corroborate, but he's NOT Cassanova Fly, unless he could argue that the C-A-S and the O-V-A and the rest is F-L-Y is from him. Maybe it was. After all, Cassanava Fly is who he is, but just MAYBE he did NOT create that particular rhyme. I dunno.

  • That kind of shit been happening to muthafuka's since music has been recorded to wax and became a business. Elvis Presley and a whole shit load of muthafukas stole shit. Thats what muthafukas do when presented certain opportunities. The only problem is when youre young you don't realize the snake in the grass coming to bite your ass.

  • Caz didn't copyright his rap!?

    Ouch!!

I believe Caz is (righfully!) seething here because he knows the royalties for this ONE rap song could have added up to the MILLIONS for him!!

  • C'mon, no one knows from what video is 2:07 , 2:43 , 3:02 and 4:21.

  • 2:14

Is there a video of the full live song of this?

  • @CoolKidX85 Not hating on talent.. hating on a mutha fluckin' no-talent who got off with a legend's lyrics and never admitted that it was not his shit. Big Hank is full of shit. I guess Big Hank is loving the money knowing that the REAL hip-hop heads know he is wack.

  • that's why I remember as an infant (yep I can remember hearing Rapper's Delight as a 2 year old) that there were 2 versions played on the radio...

of course well I'm the C-A-S-A-N-O-V-A and the rest is F-L-Y version but also well I'm imp the dimp the ladies pimp version was played also

  • Hank sounds like he's about to cry.

  • big fat crook hank fogot to tell sylvia that the lyricks were stolen from caz, thats fuck up. the frienemys were all over the place. is a rat fucking race and fat hank got over like a regular new york city fat rat. hope he enjoy his money.

  • BIG BANK HANK looks and sounds like a fake ass nigga.

  • @GILakaGP3

what is fake about him? he asked for the verses and Caz gave them to him, you act as if he really went and stole them.

  • @1980Triumph but he could at lest say mothafuckin thanks or give some part of contibut for it and it is stolen he didnt give him vers that vrs are aimed at sugarhill gang not big bank hank

  • @GILakaGP3 Why? Because he's well spoken? You're assuming alot from this video. Sure, he stole that shit, but your comment is fucking stupid.

  • I'm getting sea sick by looking at the video

  • Damn.. i almost wish i never found this video...

  • Wow hank didnt change his appearance. Did you guys see WOnder Mic? Look him up on Wikipidea he looks sorta mexicanish

  • What was Hank thinking? The least he could have done was change the lyric instead of rapping Casanova Fly. For that reason, I think Hank is probably telling the truth regarding them working together on lyrics. There's a bit of malpractice on both sides. When Sugarhill Gang started making money, everyone emerged looking for their cut. Hank should have had the sense to change the lyric at the very least, though I'm sure he was caught up with what the record company was doing as well.

  • the cameraman needs to lay off the coffee or sumthin

  • @Terrra91 or stop jurking off

  • Big Bad Biter! Sell out.. Real Mc's don't bite

  • Best Proof ever that Record companies have been raping the culture as soon as they figured out how to market it. SMH @ HANK for not speaking the truth.

  • Big Bank Hank is LYING. LYING LIAR.

  • whatever

  • the beat they playing on the intro is fat

  • Viewer: 167 .good one;-)

  • nice catch.
